Hi! I started playing WotLK prepatch on fresh server. I am really want try WotLK but I have 1 problem… I reach 36 lvl with my mage and leveling with him is so boring. 3 sec casting with basic spell is to much for me. Before I start playing, I heard it’s one of most fun class to play. I don’t know, I can’t see that Maybe in endgame, when he has all spells and gear… but for now it’s slow and boring and his legendary aoe with Blizzard spell is not as good as I thought (maybe I am just noob, I don’t know, but mana with this spell disappears so fast). I don’t know if I wanna play this class… Tell me good people, it’s worth the effort to continue play mage and have fun class in the endgame or is it better to choose another class (what do you recommend with more fastpaced playstyle and no long casting times)?
The better you play as a mage, the more that class rewards you and gives you fun, otherwise this is will be boring and definitely weak in content. I don’t advise beginners to choose it, because at a high level, the demands on your skills for this class increase many times over.
In my humble opinion, the most interesting class to leveling is a druid. He’s efficient, has four (4) different styles of play, he can do absolutely anything. He’s class quests is great, he can be cat / bear / owl / tree / bird / fish. He has unique quest for mount called Anzu.
Try paladin. They are godmode right now, ret leveling is super fun and fast and zero downtime + all 3 speccs are great in endgame.
Paladin doing his autoattacks all game… and that’s all. That’s not funny.
Dunno when you last played pala, but they are and feel great since pre patch.
Locks are also nice, many dots, self-heal, different demons, you can basically pull 3+ mobs, depending on your gear, and drain to regen hp + you tap and always have mana. When played correctly, lock never has to eat or drink.
Affliction for the win.
Ret pally becomes cool at around 40-50 with talents, before that it’s mostly seal + autoattack.
Yeah, druid also has stealth, which is very handy in many quests. You can pick stuff up in the middle of a pack of mobs without having to fight. You can also walk through an entire cave without necessarily having to fight.
Stealth is also useful in world PvP because it allows you to choose fights on your own terms. Too bad (at least feral) druid is very weak in 1v1s, at least until Mangle.
Thx! I was thinking about the paladin and druid. Maybe I will try one. Also warlock seems nice option, I know he has dots, life siphon and many other abilities without casting, so maybe it’s also good idea.
Death Knight
Ret pala is basically auto and judgement until 50.
Most WoTLK classes are very fun… Once you start getting towards the bottom of their builds. Just gotta get past the boring part.
Hunter, Enhancement shaman, Affliction Warlock. Paladin Retri or prot.
that’s basically true up til lvl 60, then your start having lots of buttons to use in your rotation:
crusader strike, divine storm, judgement, instant exorcism, consecration, hammer of wrath…add to that utility spells, cooldowns, instant healing spells and so on and it’s VERY fun indeed.
If anything, assa and combat rogues are way more linear than ret paladins in wotlk.
Paladin is very boring to begin with and first 40+ levels but it is my favorite class in later levels. Don’t know if protection paladin has more spells to use at lower levels, might be a fun class to level.
Of course, DK is a fun class, blood spec being my favorite. With all the self healing abilities and cooldowns, it’s almost unkillable. Also hunters are a fun class, but a bit boring. You just stand at the distance using autoshots and let your pet handle the melee combat. Pets are cool tough
Shamans are a fancy class. You’ll get a ghost wolf at level 16, increases your leveling time quite a bit. They are like mages, but can wear mail armor and dual wield weapons Lot’s of abilities, but not a newbie friendly class to play
Shadow Priest. It’s a blast to play and later on you can easily pull 3-4 mobs. I rarely had as much fun leveling as with my Shadow (after level ~ 30 though).
prot is super fun as soon as you get your last missing spell in the rotation (shield of righteousness) and sacred shield , but that’s only in the 70’s range unfortunately
nb: sacred shield is at lvl 80 I believe.
Play ret, there aren’t enough of them, you get a raid spot in a blink of an eye and you will be showered in loot.
People are saying paladin is fun to level. Lmao what the actual f? Paladin is pure boredom auto attack fest for the most of it.
Rogues kill people run hide and laugh about it
Tank specs are the god levellers in WOTLK. Particularly Prot Warrior and Prot Paladin.
Paladins got a lot better in WOTLK, particularly in the higher lvls 50+. It was truly mind-numbing in TBC though I admit.
People talks about most effective, not most fun. Talks about pala, but they going to be fun only after 40-50 lvl, but what’s about before? Yes, seal + aa, that’s all.
