Future Ideas for the next Seasonal release of WoW Classic

I’m a casual player

Meaning 5-man,ZG and AQ20 is the level I play at for PVE. and I do a few BG here and there.

I would like to give my opinion on features for SOM V2 if we are so lucky to get it

Keep all changes from SOM V1.

Adding in the following

PVP changes:

  • PVP Rank 1-10 is now a rep grind with the alliance or horde. giving accesss to PVP gear Blues for Casual players.
  • Rank 11-14 can still be no-life grinding for weeks or Ranked battle ground based.

PVE changes:

  • Make it optional for the harder boss fights, add extra loot if SOM-mode is selected.

Quality of life changes:

  • Action House update, so i don’t need an addon to us AH
  • Disable Addons
  • Dedicated Hardcore servers
  • Pet tab - Character spesifik
  • Mount tab - Character spesifik
  • Add target dummies
  • If stuff is broken but fun, leave it in the game. I never make it to try out the fun stuff. e.g 2x Thrash Blade, patched out before i could get there.
  • Hair dresser
  • Update Character models
  • Respec cap out a 5 gold start at 1 silver.
  • Mount cast speed 1.5 sec down from 3 sec
  • Gathering speed affected by Skill level.
  • Gathering drop affected by Skill level.

Race Balancing: as today with the following changes:

Allaince:
Dwarves:
Mace Specialization: Skill with Maces and Two-Handed Maces increased by 5.
Mining Specialization Mining skill increased by 15.

Gnome:
Dagger Specialization: Skill with daggers increased by 5.
Maby add an item so the Gnomes get tall and dont have to swim i shallow water. Gnoms only enginering boots enchant with 5% speed and 2’ hight? “buffalo boots” for refrence.

Horde:
Orc:
Hardiness - Duration of Stun effects reduced by an additional 20%
Blood Fury - Increases base melee and Range attack power by 25% for 15 sec and reduces healing effects on you by 50% for 25 sec.

I’ve been playing WoW on- and off since 2004, and on a handfull of private servers then again in Classic and then finally now on SoM. Here are my takes on what could be some good changes:

(some stolen from above posters)

  • put back original difficulty to raids (i.e cakewalk)

  • put back worldbuffs

  • add chrono boons

  • keep working summon stones from SoM

  • instead of region-wide make it world-wide battlegroups for PvP so you can PvP when ever you want.

  • instead of shorter content phases do the opposite, LONGER content phases. Drag them out to a crawl.

  • Keep the SoM changes to ranking with higher RP gains.

  • lvl40 mount at lvl30 at 50g cost.

  • epic mount still at 60 but at 500 cost.

  • Remove the added XP gains from SoM. Go back to original leveling speeds.

  • Dualspec as one-time cost at perhaps 1000g, then add a 1hour CD to it so you cant change “too often” on-the-fly. This would GREATLY help tank-shortage for dungeons AND make for a much greater active PvP community.

  • Hairdresser ingame that cost gold to use (as a sort of gold-sink).

EDIT:

  • Mount tab (but character specific)
  • Pet tab (not character specific)

Mounts and pets ARE (h**l everything is) character specific or it’s not Classic.

No, even if Dual spec GAVE me gold no way I’m tankling for today’s toxic groups. Players made tank (and healer) shortage by their hurry-hurry playstyle and blame tank/healer for wipes.

Blockquote

This holds alot of thruth to it, and I have noticed it aswell. That being said I still think it would be a net-benefit to the game.
The avilability of tanks (and honestly, healers) would increase for dungeons and it would make it easier for the semi-casual players to partake in PvP more, thus increasing the total pool of PvP players. I know many pve-specced players simply skip PvP altogether given how lackluster their pve spec performs in PvP.

EDIT: man i cant figure out how to quote players here. Super clunky forum.

You mean retail?!

To quote press the small speech balloon thingie to the left where you type.

Maybe you’re rigth. It is not so for me at least. I do not do PvP at all and run around as a (mostly) Tankadin always because I find it fun, but I.DO.NOT. tank dungeons any more - even if I still get loads of whispers. And I’m sad, because it was a great deal of my good memories from TBC.

There is very little interest in raidlogging. And smaller things like ZG, Silithus quests and turnins are sought quite quickly.

It would not affect tank or healer quantity in instances as if the instance doesn’t reward what someone wants he/she will not join. It was tested quite hard on TBC launch.

It would be really convenient for hybrid specs though.

This is only yours experience.

Not mine alone, I have friends and guildies saying the same. But I’m sure some would go for it, which I do say in my post too.

Latency nightmare, no thanks.

I hope in SOM2 to merge all servers and add the Premade group and raid feature, and this is the best for those who can play outside Europe

it wouldnt be a latency nightmare. Global fiber cable infrastructure in 2022 is ALOT better than it was in 2004-2006. Many Americans who have played on European-hosted private servers in the years 2012-2019 can attest to that fact. US->EU latency in WoW averages between 100-200. Back in 2004 it would probably have been in the 300+

tldr: latency isnt an issue anymore.

Please tell my connexion this
Not all players live in capitals or big cities with stellar connexions, even with fibre, the many meeting points or whatever it’s called from here to the main server makes for lagg.

yea man, you clearly don’t know what RPG side of wow is, we could have server like that to separate people (convenient competitive hyper people and laidback mature people), sure, give us that option, make 2 servers after wrath, or 6 or 10, just separate changes and no changes.

Yea I’m not trading my current 20ms to that.
