tbh i ll keep playing as long as i am having fun, however long that will be. admittedly i dont play as much as i used to and often play other games every now and then because wow has become very frustrating at times…
regarding the recent events i ll see how it plays out. they arent all bad apples i assume, so blizzard needs to make certain changes within the company otherwise its probably going to be a free fall.
on another note, i always see you standing in oribos and it irritates the hell out of me because if you omit the last letter its the same name as my irl name.
I’m not paying real money for it, but when I can’t buy anymore game time with my gold reserves and if things haven’t improved I’ll take a break. Last time I took 18 months off but came back eventually.
maybe but i still don’t get it.
a company is not a single person and viceversa. some crappy people are not every people who work there.
otherwise it will be like saying that every policemen in america is a violent racist, and it’s not true by any means.
this “dropping the game” to get the moral high ground makes no sense, and it will probably hurt the good people who still work there and rely to their salary for their family.
protest is good, demand action is good, but droppin the game for what happen outside it makes no sense to me. we should quit because the game is bad if we think so.
Which is my take on it but I fully respect the right of others to cancel (remember for most it is not just the last week it is a build up things over a few years.)
Still playing as others have said all boycotts do is hit the lowest rung on the ladder employees…you really think blizzards ceo will struggle for cash if you unsub? Of course not…but they may very well decide to fire those low down to save a bit of money if their profits are hit, say new hire animators or devs etc just starting out in the industry who need the job …so who did your boycott really hurt? It is never the intended targets that are hurt by these boycotts!
As for me…I’ve sunk over almost 15 years of playtime into this game, I’ve played over 2 accounts since just before tbc…I’m not throwing all that away for anything and unlike many I actually do enjoy shadowlands, miles better then bfa with far more of an epic feel.
That’s not how it works. The ceo is measured by the bottom line which is improved by cutting costs or increasing revenue. Replacing devs and animators, the people that drive the revenue is not the way forward it would just be a very short term reduction in cost, and maybe not even that depending on severance. If I were in middle management there, I would be worried as that’s where to trim the fat.
Not going anywhere. Ive had a few beers with the WoW devs at Blizzcon numerous times. Supported them since WoW Alphas and wont turn my back when they need us the most. While I appreciate people feel personally hurt by the claims coming out, I honestly think the white knight virtue signaling by people that quite honestly are jumping on the bandwagon is equally as offensive to me. We really need to get a grip of things. Not just in this case, but in general. This wouldn’t have even made the news 10 years ago. You don’t have a leg to stand on if you worked there and didn’t say anything when you got offended.
Still playing but will be taking a break at the end of my current sub to dedicate some time to completing some PlayStation games I’ve shelved. Will be back once I get the urge to level yet another alt.
i stopped before the end of BFA, am tired of the systematic removal of rpg elements in favour of the current direction.
i stopped because something you want to do = fun, something you have to do = work.
i wouldn’t stop because of workplace abuses any more than i would throw away a pack of revels because of the toffee ones, anymore than i would condemn the planet for agent orange, though i absolutely would expect them to be dealt with.
quitting isn’t going to help anyone, i know the only way to hurt the rich and powerful is to make them not rich and powerful, but this one is up to the courts to decide, it’s the only way to protect the innocent.
i know about one that is in development and if it’s like their cataclysm
it will be very close to retail
cause i was playing cata there when WOD sucked and let me tell you the scripting and everything it was TOP NOTCH
cataclysm servers are slowly dying cause you know if you have one expansion for 8 years people will lost interest
but many will play MOP there just because
they are going with a progresion path or i don’t how it’s called
you are basically will experience pathes like they were going on retail
they did cata like that and it was success.
I cancelled my sub last week, nothing to do with all this but purely because i feel the game is boring. 9.1 is just 8.1 with a different name which was just 7.1 with a different name.
The lack of effort i perceive they are putting in has only been reinforced by this weeks saga.
I am only planning to step back for a couple of months and then I might come back if it looks worthwhile to do so (e.g. I feel refreshed and the game has recovered from this saga), if not ill probably come back for next patch and see if much has improved then.
This comment sums it up for me. The reason id decided to step back was i felt like i had to do x y and z just in order to play the parts of the game i wanted to and i realised that isnt fun its a job.
I dont have an urge or a requirement to play an MMO, so spending my free time playing single player games instead that i can decide when i put the time in rather than realising its Sunday and ive got 16 things to do on the few hours I’ve got to play.
Dude like i have said numerous times. Do not be surprised by those that still comment on the forum, claims to have quit / quit forever ago. BUT CONTINUES TO TRASH THE GAME ON THE FORUM.
None of them has ever left, they just refuse to admit they have the passion for the game. If someone really quits something for good, they stop entirely.
Talking about it.
Discuss it.
Remind themself of it.
Engage in Conversations about it.
Play the game at all.
The people that continue to trash the game have NEVER EVER SHOWN IN FOREVER, these actions. So don’t be surprised anymore. Just basically take it as another.
Oh ye sure, just like you said all your past times.
Personally, I will go on, playing this game, and I won’t go on FF14 (i don’t like it at all, and isn’t even comparable to WoW. Just tastes). What happened (or happening), inside the blizzard offices, sadly happens in many work environments, keeping all secret. You all, know that situation only because someone wanted to make that situation public. I’m not surprised about that, but this makes me really disgusted about how the people around have become. I love this game, and I grew up playing this game, knowing really nice friends and passing really amazing moments, doing raids, instances, pvp. The real problem in all environments, on WoW or outside the game, and inside their offices is just the people behaviour, that ruins everything. People in 2021 is just always angry, always prone to answer badly in every circumstance, selfish and always with wrong manners, forgetting about to be gentle, and polite, and thinking to be a god, avoiding admitting mistakes (toxic maybe?). Good and nice people are very few in the year 2021, and their number will thin, going ahead.
