Fyr'alath the Dreamrender - probably one of the worst legendary items ever designed

I was lucky enough to get the quest item for the new legendary item. After 3 days of extremely not fun grind/quests and gold sinks i managed to obtain the orange colored axe.

I never thought that id say this but im starting to hate that item.

Brief explanation how it works:
Every time you attack a target it applies a DOT damage on it (does OK damage). Each DOT increase the on-use damage by 10% (Stacks up to 50%). Using the axe spell makes you leap towards your target (like Fyrakk does) and then you start cleaving everything infront of you for 3 seconds. (Damage is split between the targets)

Now why i hate it:

  • As Unholy DK i have to use death and decay and then cleave to spread the dot, there is no other way to spread it. Thats a bit annoying but its okey.
  • Its another 2min cooldown to track, that might be okey for specs like ret pala but as Unholy it adds ANOTHER cooldown to track. A spec that already have 6 cooldown spells from 45sec up to 3min plus Death and decay which is another cooldown.
  • On-use damage feels really weak for what it does and HOW it does it.
  • And the worst part. That 3 seconds cast - it ROOTS you in place and you cannot cast anything else during that time. Have fun avoiding stuff on the ground.

Whoever designed this item clearly took inspiration from Shadowmourne but for some reason decided to overcomplicate it for no reason. That on use effect should be removed and replaced with a passive damage+stat proc.

I really like how it looks and that dot feels nice but the rest should be redesigned…

The whining about this legendary is unreal.

The cast is poor, but the passive dot is good, its 6-7% overall DPS from the people ive seen with it. In what universe is that bad?

Not to mention its a guaranteed 496 ilvl regardless if you get it from normal.

Now compare that to the Sylvanas bow from shadowlands, that had 3 different difficulty versions and a weak use ability.

Suddenly Fyr’alath should look pretty good.

it is 8 weeks and most of us didnt get it. evokers hated it they bring bad luck protection but 8 weeks and majority of dk,warrior, ret still dont have it. this is a terrible system. imagine the feeling if we get the legendary near end season. it should have been guranteed lootable in 1-1.5 months at least. maybe make it a longer questline or farmable etc. i would make comment your pointed issues if i could try item for myself. i hope they wont bring legendary next expansions if it is locked behind this much luck and time (8 weeks already)

Dont worry, is gonna become useless under 2 months

if it’s like the Sylvanas lego then both of them will be given an item to upgrade it to match S4.

Pls baws gimme the leggo

Hunters had the same thing with thre bow in SL so you have to deal with it and time it.

they will probs do what they did with hunters in SL and give it an upgrade item.

People actually grind for the legendary that becomes irrelevant next season patch?

I just look at the bright side of it… no need for me to go farm it in the first place and no need to spend lots of gold. Luckily it also doesn’t even look good for DK, so I’m happy the way things are.

HUH

AOE silence granted without having to even spend any talents points or anything is WEAK?

Rooted for 3 sec is more then bad!

Then this grind and goldsink to get it is No fun!
Then i prefer legendarys with cool effects like in Legion!
And at the end of the Patch we’re were able to Just buy them for a few coins.

The legendary system in dragonflight IS Just goldsink from Blizzard cause they wann sell more Tokens

Wich gold sink? Its like only 500k - 750k gold wich u earn in a day? Or 2

It’s less than that already. That was like day 1 prices.

lol…first world problems. casters didnt get a legengadry weapon since cata…ungrateful

Melee brains that can’t think more than 3 seconds ahead make me laugh. Me rooted for 3 seconds, me die

The silence was useless in raid, extremely hard to utilize in M+ due to cast time and the damage wasnt great overall compared an aimed shot. So yes, weak use ability.

Use your brain before replying in the future.

That doesn’t make it weak just because you don’t know how to use it, lmao.

DPS brain rot. “If it doesn’t do damage its bad”.

Says the one who doesn’t realize just how strong an aoe silence is. :joy:

When I have to cast repentence for 1.2 seconds it feels like a lifetime

I do agree though, it’s not the end of the world, but not fun for melee classes either.
