It’s something normal and people should learn to deal with it. If someone is bothered by two people of the same gender being love, then the problem lies with the person.
The world is currently vastly overpopulated. That itsn’t going to change into “there’s only 200 people left!” within 10 years because a few people like a person of the same gender.
I can represent a different view point that goes to ‘tired part’ - while I do not think orientation is relevant in majority of stories,you see I have absolutely NO problems with new characters have any gander, any preference. For my sake Anduin and Wrathion could be a couple. Good for them!
But i am truly fed up of things like virtue signalling moves, “Oh Snape is geeeeh” while it was never relevant to the story what he was.

OP, and a couple of others claim to adamantly know as fact that litterally any new character added to any franchise, including WoW, is automatically pandering etc etc, regardless of how it’s actually portrayed.
Like with this specific situation, it’s a passing brief mention of a character in history having had a same sex partner, that’s it.
That’s the full extent to it, and it’s not a central main questline everyone has to do either.
So where is the harm in this? That’s been most of the issues here.

Just let people enjoy it, and if you are for example bothered or tired with it, what’s the harm in letting people who like it enjoy it still? It isn’t mandatory, it isn’t forced in any way onto the players. Same with most forms of media like movies. If it’s bothering, don’t watch it, and let the people who like it enjoy it.
I can safely say this is not my view point. I do not auto assume that new character is catering or signalling. However I may feel this being case when said character is bland, dull and based on a stereotypical template to check a box For me this is case by case thing. And I do believe most of us would make a difference if this would be a check in a box or just a character as its meant to be by its creators.

For many people, it’s a nice step in the right to direction that they are being seen and treated as normal.
So that’s why many people just feel happy that it’s there.
I feel like a character being gay and bland isn’t really that different from one being bland and straight.
Even then, while I think that some gay characters are put in as a marketing gimmick, the fix isn’t to complain that the characters are gay, but to not make decisions based on those things.
“Anti-wokeness” is a movement that can be pandered and catered to as a marketing ploy just as much as “SJWs” can be.
Often enough I hear “oh thank god they rejected wokeness, ima support them”, so clearly it’s working too.
I find that mentioning sexuality or their partners in every step is just weird and awkward. And that applies also to people, who in their posts or comments on internet go like, “I have a gf.” while discussing which is better vanilla or chocolate ice cream.
Your entire post is rooted in an complete misunderstanding of reality. Teamwork and individualism aren’t mutually exclusive. Individualism is basically your right to determination. You decide what you want to be. If you’d like that freedom for yourself, but you won’t extend it to others, then you, sir, are a hypocrite. What are you doing with your life? Here’s the kicker - I had 2 gay cats. TWO. They were both exiled by their brothers who got tired of being mounted all the time. The reality of it all is that homosexuality exists in nature. It’s not a human invention, it predates humanity. And these species are under zero threat of extinction. No species ever became extinct because of its homosexual population.
I think at the core of this bs “we’ll go extinct if we allow gay marriage” is an admission at your side that being gay just seems more fun. You’d love that. And you’re afraid that everyone in society will be gay if they had the choice. You see being straight is something YOU HAVE TO DO out of love for the motherland, and being gay as fun. And you’re afraid once people are free, they’d all become gay. Fear of gay acceptance is a huge projection. It drives plot and/or character motivations or builds character personality. Just having relationships in media doesn’t inherently make it sexual in nature.

Sexuality, aka who you love doesnt automatically equate sex. Things like a partner definatly has a place in RPG, it’s part of the roleplay aspect to have an alive world that the characters have families and loved ones.
LGBTQ+ doesn’t immediatly mean sex or naughty stuff.
