I’d like to applaud the effort made in this direction by submitting this post and letting Blizzard know that the right call was made.
I’d even dare say that whoever is opposed to this change is either: A) someone who makes a living off of RMT, thusly said change will impact his profits/livelihood or B) young enough that his naivety is pardonable as he yet may not understand the workings of laundering gold and its negative effects on the game.

That’s probably the very best announcement in WoW during last few years. Banning gdkp is a good move, yet Blizzard still miss few things:

good % of current community is completely rotten, they act like they are some sort of “businessman” and that every breath they take while playing the game should be paid from someone’s pocket, which leads us to the next point:

they will find the way. They. Will. Find. Some. Workaround. Until game allows you to trade with other players - this cancer will exist, no matter how good your detection is, you won’t be able to catch 'em all. Even now you can see, how they try to adapt in a plain sight, which leads us to the next point:

try to use the approach from games like Black Desert or World of Tanks, precisely - completely forbid any forms of trades/exchanges between players and fix the prices for all the items ingame. Yes, could sound mad, but just think about it for a moment:
→ no trade allowed → no “bid” raids (in any shapes or forms) → no toxicity → and most importantly - no bots and RMT. Because there is no point in botting if you can only use your gold for yourself. Yes they still can use bots for lvling, but…who cares? They can probably try to bot a toon, stack some gold on it and sell the account, but I hope in 2024 you know how to track account-selling. To remove need/greed “unfairness” - just make loot personal, you already have the tools.
→ fixed prices → no AH scamming (finally after all these years) + no way to “pre-sell” 10x overpriced units of an item from AH in exchange for a raid-boost.
But most important thing is - this will probably cut off all the “players”, who play this game for profits, and heal the community. Healthy community - healthy game. Healthy game - game you want to keep playing
That also true fro Hardcore guild where tons of consumes are mandatory. There are a lot of ppl buying gold for sure. So what should we do? instead of banning bots and deal with the real problem ,we start removing whoever promote gold selling indirectly? Asking the whole raid to show up with full consumes promote goold buying and selling indirectly. It is kinda obvious. Are Hc semi-HC next on the ban list?
You should deal with the bots and gold selling platform, not with those who like to play in the gdkp. If you wanna ban gold sellers etc. I am fine, but why the Hell forbid everyone to play gdkp.
You are also promoting a sort of witch hunt. I have seen some profile around spreading hatred against a community (e.g. gdkp) calling them crockroaches etc. I was not surprised to read some racist name “whitestguy” and so on. Funny part those comment haven’t been removed. Hope you are aware of that. You just promote toxicity in this way.
I know it is an “experiment” for the second phase of SoD, but I think you should not fuel a bunch of unexpirienced ppl spreading hatred day and night on forum against an entire community. Also keep in mind a small minority of players is here in the forum.

That’s right, GDKP lovers should be caught and banned.

Cry harder? Im literally telling a GDKP player that they can blame a part of their own community 
I’m very happy about this change. 
Also people can still go with random Raids, I don’t really see a down side to this.
I hope it works out as intended, and we see much less of the Gold & GDKP spam in the Game.
Should’ve banned this crap already in original WotLK.

i said most GDKP people dont buy gold , also its not only gdkp people buying gold , there is a lot of people who buy just because they have no time or simply dont want do farm gold. ->edited this , misstyped a lot in post before sry
I like that they are testing this for P2. Might come back for later stages of SoD
they did listen to the community there are many players complaining about gdkp
absolutly it was the biggest mmo up to 2019 with classic relaunch
