I’m planning to play ret but I think I will heal in raids at the beginning cuz it doesn’t seem that people want ret in raids from what I’ve heard.
If I gear as a healer, I don’t know how pve will be. If I quest and stuff do I have to do that as a healer?
If I change taletns I still ahve the healer gear and I don’t know if that will work. I’ve never played a healer before.
I don’t know what to do so please help.
Also, how will ret paladin be at 60?
I picked a paladin cuz I want to be melee, and I like to be able to survive alot of damage, that’s why I didn’t pick rogue.
I didn’t pick warrior cuz my friend is playing one ( we’re leveling together) and I don’t want to play the same class as him because I find that boring.
I don’t think I will ahve any problem with healing but I just don’t know how it will work with healing and dps at 60 as I said before.
Ppl might want you in raids if you are dedicated and a nice guy to have around no matter the spec. Especially not hardcore minmaxers guild always have a spot or two for the more unusual specs.
If you want to be even more of help you can go with a 21/0/30 spec. This is the one I’m using right now and allows you to get the main healing tool (Illumination and Divine Favor) plus all the PvE stuff you need from Ret(all you are missing is the hitrating from the Protection tree but this isn’t a disastrous trade if you itemize to dampen it). This means you cna bring with you the helaing gear and switch between healing and DPS depending on the situation. You’ll also be able to do dungeon in both roles without the need to respec.
If you want to be a dedicated healer pve and like to melee PvP you should try the 31/0/20 once u get spell power set T2 you can seal of command with 2h divine favour holyshock for good burst and you can heal as strong as any healer
For leveling up, spec Retribution and collect some +int gear (cloth, leather, mail, plate) for healing dungeons. You can heal just fine in Retri spec but you need another set of gear for bigger mana pool.
You definitely don’t solo quest in your healing gear. Strength is your main stat for soloing, although other stats can also be useful for a paladin. Most players have at least two sets of gear for different purposes, druids could have even more since they can be tanks, dps and healers.
At level 60 things chance a bit. If you want to raid you’re most likely a healer and need to spec respectively. Solo questing in healing spec on any class is painful, even in dps gear. You make money by healing dungeons or farm enough gold to respec from holy to retri and then back to holy. As others have said above, some guilds may accept dps paladins if that’s what you want to do.
Paladin is a great class. You have an access to every role in a group play. Just pick the way that suits for your play style.
