Gear equalization killed pvp

Looks like this is another case of “you think you do, but you don’t”. You thought you wanted equal gear, but the result is without gear rewards many players lose the will to play because power progression is the basis of mmos.

Deniers can’t explain why pvp was so much more active in SL. Even in prepatch when solo shuffle was released it was POPPING. You can’t argue it was more balanced because legendaries stacking with new talents was busted for some classes. DH was melting entire teams with the glaive legendary. There were also way more healers queueing because they wanted the sweet gear upgrades and dps queues were 5 minutes. So gear equalization is contributing to the healer shortage because they have no incentive, transmog alone doesn’t cut it.

Imagine if Blizzard did the same to pve and LFR would reward the same gear level as mythic raid. The game would instantly die and everyone knows it.

best thing blizzard ever did. GJ BLIZZARD equal gear is perfect for pvp. balancing it is the issue. players getting titles and cosmetic gear is enough

I don’t have it in me to upgrade gear, or farm months for corruption, conduits etc…
Gearing right now is best it’s ever been, and it should stay this way.

Kinda agreed. People roll over to fotm way too fast now

The only problem is the rng tier set pieces, which is ok for pve but not for pvp. This kind of rng is unfair in pvp. Pvp should have its own unique bonuses and luck shouldn’t play any role in getting them. Rng vault for normal items is more than enough if we really have to have some rng.

Gear system is the best we’ve ever had. Majority of people play pvp because they like the process, not because they need gear to make it to top 3% of logs.

Real men wants to win with skills, not because they got better gear.

2 more negatives of gear equalization:

-Many players hop to whatever class is FOTM because it requires no investment to gear up.

-It’s the reason people are complaining about constantly facing glad players at lower ratings, because without gear incentive most of the casuals quit.

yes, obviosuly the q times are halved, there is way more people playing and playing pvp, yes, terrible decision.

You’re so clueless.

Problem not with gear, but with blizz being bad with balance. You have two weeks in the row warriors being more popular across the board - nerf them by % till their population stabilize, and then address Wars with the proper balance patch,
I personally can write a server side aura for balancing using blizz made pvp damage modifier auras using data from their or other open sources, it is not hard, this won’t require patch or something for the client, but blizz just biases towards some classes like wars and mages, and don’t give a damn about others no matter if their damage is over or undertuned.

“Patient complained about pain in the left arm, so we took his right leg.”

Baffles me how you can draw such weird conclusions from “missing upgrades”.

There are upgrades btw, they increase the PVE itemlevel of you PVP stuff, which I think, is great.

Whats the point of gear upgrades in PVP, besides being a crutch for people who don’t improve and chase “number go up” instead?

If you really wanted totally fair pvp you would be arguing for templates, because gear disparity still exists right now. In a SL system conquest gear would start only 3 ilevels above honor gear, not 13. The difference is they removed gear progression from rating, which takes away the incentive for most casual players to keep playing and rank up.

I agree. Balance is terrible.

Gearing is fine as it is, Shadowlands was worst in my opinion, Gear gated behind Rating creates only problems and shady stuff going on in brackets. Problem is the Game balance, Too much random dmg/procs compared to past for example etc. My only complain about gearing is If you play PVE to you cant craft mandatory items for PVP like Precog, and sporecloak for example. I would realy like the sporecloak to boost my survival but i cant get it because i need spark for PVE gear, which is terrible system. I think PVP should have its own Sparks too or something.

I am arguing for templates, done right, not like the fake-out in legion.

Is it tho? Might be because the opposite is the case and they get steamrolled every bg when they join up as you said. And if thats truly your concern, then the solution is to increase the gap even more? Are you sure about that?

Weird take. I’d argue far more people quit because they run into people with gear they can only beat when said overgeared trashcan plays with one hand and a railway spike through their head.

Right now you have, what, a ten IlvL gap between honor and conquest gear, before with upgrades you could potentially have 30-40-50 ilvl difference. Hows that not an improvement, why do you want a candytrail so badly even if it guides you to a worse outcome?

If I remember it right, mmr was bugged af back in November Solo shuffle. You just straight up got infinite +200/300 for 4-2 up to 2.2k rating, at least it was like this with my enh, who actually was only 1.4k exp in 2s and somehow got so much for mere shuffle matches. So because of this messed up mmr, more people could q with each other. Anyways in 2 weeks I can tell you for sure if people numbers are decreased or not.
It was around 210k players in shuffle after 1st month of S1, we will see how much it will be this time after a month.
Talking about gear: well I think it’s cool, you have equal field to fight. I started playing Wow in SL and when I tried to do 2s with my friend, I just played vs some gladiators who had same spec, but like 20-30k HP more it’s for sure gear ilvl diff.
How the fock was I supposed to win vs such dudes with 1) no pvp experience and 2) not equal gear, just because this glad help his friend or idk. Nah that shiit was stupid, better when we are equal with gear.

I have seen casuals sticking to pvp even more actually…also open world pvp and ques are quite active too, I quite like it personally speaking. People I tend to come across seem to be folks who do pvp because they want to rather than I HAVE TO GRIND FOR THAT 3% BOOST

I didnt read anything but the title because I know I will completely disagree. Gear equalisation has saved PvP, not killed it. Gone are the days of getting roasted for hours on end because youre too far behind.

These are the ramblings of a player who only did well if he outgeared everyone.

You have back to back one of the worst takes when it comes to PVP.
