Gear in player vs player

Seeing the ‘what to expect in 8.2’ section on mmo champ there are once again no updates on pvp gear… Having quit for 2 months now due to raid gear dominating pvp due to their higher ilvl and better azerite, I was hoping to see a change to 8.1.5 or 8.2. Sadly it appears that pvp is becoming more and more for heroic and mythic raiders.
Sadly my life is too busy due to work and friends in order to deal with raid times, and I like to play multiple classes (2000 - 2600 exp with all classes from Legion and forward). But it appears that me not wanting and not being able to spend hours and hours on pve I have to be punished by having a big disadvantage.

Tried arena this weekend and with 375 ilvl I had 80k less health than some people I encountred, which is ~55-60% more than me. Truly horrible.

This story might sound very negative but I will have to admit that the other pvp aspects are pretty good. During season 1 of bfa and the entirety of legion I absolutely enjoyed class design, classbalance for the big majority (even weaker classes could achieve higher in the right hands), and gameplay feels very stable compared to what I’ve experienced in the past

0/10 would extend gametime with this gear system in pvp
10/10 would play again with a good pvp gear system. Legion’s system or pvp vendors all fine by me, as long as 100% pvp players can have fair games based on skill instead of gear.

Skill hasn’t been a true deciding factor in pvp in a veeeeery long time. Class(es) and gear has become bigger deciding factors over time by taking over what possibilities to outplay used to represent in the gameplay.

The emphasis on comp and gear is so much greater these days than in the past.

While i still want PVP vendor for conquest gear to be a thing again, i have to disagree to some degree with you on this one, your ilvl on your gear scale according to your rating, the first month of 8.1 the highest ilvl player was a 420 Death Knight who had never set foot onto raiding or M+ soil.

tho sadly i’m more disappointed in the PVP content as a whole this expansion, nothing intrest me in PvP anymore as there’s nothing new, no goals or sense of purpose, classes are just beyond broken and now they even removed elite gear… I stopped playing for high content a long time ago though, but having the opportunity to get my chance at obtaining one was enough within itself to make it intresting, these days i hardly even do PvP for fun because there’s nothing fun about it when its just so heavily Horde dominated, sure queue’s are very fast as Alliance but when your avg team is based on half Russian who dont speak English, the other half English who don’t speak Russian, avg health is 90k and 0 healers against Hordes with an avg of 180k and 3 healers it just defeats the purpose of balance or fun.

So instead of trying to put some effort into your character (ie: 1x +10 mythic every week for residuum to have 3x 415 azerite which is hp chunk between u and others) u decided to quit. Then came back jumped straight into arena with 0 gear -> get suprised that players on other side of the arena have the gear that they worked for …get stomped and decided, instead of gearing, to quit again. Pvp needs a vendor and a specific pvp gear - yes. But your example is a extreme, its not cs:go…its rpg and it should be visible on your character that u put some effort and time into it.

What is good ilvl now? I am still around 370.

Anything above 400

We got it. You are a pve type of a guy. No need to bash for not doing m+ or raids.

I think some of the replies are going a bit off track here. I do agree with the poster. Back in the day you could gear up equally and some had better gear because of them being pvp elitist or when people did some PvE offside to get that 1 trinket which was better.

Yes maybe a DK had 420 iLevel w/o doing pve content but I bet he spend a lot of time in it. And ofcourse you need to spend time to get better gear but being in higher arena levels you should be rewarded with better gear iLevel too. So when you do have time to play arena and you’re actually good at it yes, get a high item piece as reward.

Dont get me wrong. I do pve and i do m+. I dont think 1 m+ run per week is somrthing unheard of. Also i dont get why pvp weekly chest doesnt provide residuum.
I absolutely wanna see comeback of pvp oriented gear that distinct pvp players from pve players. Butnit have to be a gear , not some shady scaling or templates. I love spam bg some arenas etc but if u join bg and all are same then it isnt fun since classes arent balanced and never be …gear wont help you anf you are completely dependant on your, very often bad, team.

My point of that post is that OP clearly wanna join arena after a long break and be on same field like evryonr else that inset time and put effort into their characters …in an mmo RPG.

I agree with you. Have to say in battleground things will never be equal tho, you’ll always have a less experienced player, a pve’er and alts/worse geared people inside.

And yes, you cant expect to still be viable after a long break :stuck_out_tongue:

Your point is garbage. PvP is about skill, not progression like PvE.

What if the OP stated has no time for this ?

What if this stated below also happened to me ?

What about if u can’t join the Mythic +10 dungeons because these PVE noobs like for example you are watching a website for a raider io score and simply don’t invite low scores… ?

What if u you need to grind a long time all sort of dungeons till u got a decent raider io score to do get an invite for Mythic +10 dungeons otherwise there is simple no invites… ?

Refer again to the limited of time a person has and that he got to choose between PVP or PVE content and what if he is a PVP-er then he is forced to do both content “especialy PVE content to gear up”

And its even ridiculous we got to do this PVE in order to gear up for PVP, this system makes no sense @ all for the PVP community.

Well that is my opinion. And i like to be able progress my character even in pvp by gearing learning leveling neck etc. Thats why i like wow and rpg in general. Wow isnt a pay to win game. Everyone has a equal playfield to get to the point where we are satisfied with our characters. U just have to play and give it a time. …and in legion + bfa is about luck too which is ofc retar ded …thats true.

@ Duzurîx

Ofc if the gearing was equal in pvp as it is for pve I wouldn’t mind it to much but now the rewards from pvp are way lower in compare with ilvl and stats / traits from pve atm.

Its not equal scaled out when entering pvp combat, as again what I mention in pvp there shouldn’t be such cap between skill / gear since its a different gameplay as it should be content / competive wise so to say.

Its not possible to gear for a PVP-er in pve content while have limited time for most of us next to living a real life…

Ok. It seems ive been misunderstood.
Im not defending current or legion system of pvp gearing at all. I think its stupid, bad, rng ridiculously complicated for new guys to understood. I also think that pve gear!! has no god damn place in pvp whatsoever nor doing any pve stuff to be viable in pvp!!!
Pvp needs its own gear, its own stat (resil or pvp power worked just fine) and be absolutely dominant in any pvp scenario over pve items. Thats my wish.

My response and reason why i even posted here is the OP method of testing or playing pvp atm. If he or you or anyone else doesnt have time to play then wow isnt that much for you anymore. Thats how it has ever been.
I absolutely despite current method of catch-up systems in form of some shady scaling that nobody knows how even work. If u just dinged did absolutely nothing and que up for bg where others struggle to kill you, net because you are a god but becase game itself somehow decided to scale your stats and power…how is that even fair for others that put time and effort into their chars? Look at it from the other side aswell. What is so skillfull about that?

He have experince in pvp(atleast he claimed so) so what did he expect. Wow with exception of legion to an extent was always the same. He quit, then came back did absolutely nothing and expected to be on same level with others. Got stomped and instead of putting some effort, he went to the forums to make a wow-hate topic about him quiting again. Thats in my eyes straight up idiotic.

Then there was a point where he said something in a sence ,im all up for pvp vendors"…at this point like what the hell…If u quit and then come back after some time what do vendors change about the fact that your gear is just behind? In the past…FE: in mop…if u went into arena with griveous gear against players that were full pridefull, then u got absolutely exterminated…and that was with pvp vendors. The point is(atleast in my eyes) that getting full pridefull was something that everyone could eventualy get and be at same level. But u had to work for it and atleast play the game. Not quit for x months then come back and expect that meanwhile you were offilne gear magicaly dropped out of the sky and kept u updated with others.

And for other that responded to me and called me names. Only real way how to get geared for pve, pvp is to do pve - that is true and it is absolutely bad! Im not defending it.

PvP progress is player’s progress, not the character’s.

You can devote your life to training like Daigo (Street Fighter) or play casually, PvP has its own useless perfection niche RL-pointless skills, but it is not about getting gear.

In fact, I’d argue that PvP player’s one-dimentional progression is more damaging to human erudition and personality than a PvE grind, but it is a different subject.

your point is garbage. Since this is an rpggear should matter, but PvP gear should be equal to the pve one.

Gear really doesn’t matter that much

Yawn verb.
Involuntary open one’s mouth wide and inhale deeply due to tiredness or boredom.

Ex. “He began yawning and looking at his watch.”

Gear ‘does’ matter, you get more hit points, traits are more potent, Maledict hits for more and absorbs far more healing.
