It’s not changes that make sense from within the universe or are brought on from inside the story.
It’s not Gorakk the ork who got fed up with being called a greenskin and started a movement to combatant the racism of azeroth.
It’s Steve in real life that pops my immersion bubble, shakes me and yells at me that racism is bad.
I know it is. I’m aware and dealing with that in every moment of real life. But this is not real life, this is fiction, this is made up and sure there are inspirations and parallels between real life and what’s in here but in the end it’s a separate reality and what makes sense in ours doesn’t always make sense in this one.
So to keep the immersion intact, what happens in this made up reality has to be brought on from within that reality and make sense from within the rules set by that reality.
Changing things out of the blue for reasons in our reality tears down the ability and enjoyment of losing yourself in the imagination of a different world.
It’s no longer the magical, mystical and adventures World of Warcraft! But real life with bad resolution.
It’s like you’re reading Harry Potter and you’re totally lost within that amazing fictitious world of wizard and spells and you’re right in there , living the story in your imagination as it unfolds but then your phone buzzes as a tweet has been released by J.K Rowling saying that Hermione is black and your veil of immersion is shattered as you’re no longer thinking what it’s like to fly on a broom or cast spells but rather where it states that Hermione is black, if it’s even mentioned, why it would be, why Rowling felt she needed to add that etc.
Your head is no longer in the story but disconnected from it thinking about real life politics and agendas.
Take the woman/fruit painting.
The character that decided to get that painting done and hung it on his/her wall obviously liked it with the lady so what prompted him to change into a painting of that of a bowl of fruit?
Did he suddenly become obsessed by fruit and started decorating the entire house with fruit.
Was it stolen and replaced by a different painting in hopes by the thieves that no one would notice.
Maybe the house has been taken over by fruit beings and they started hanging up family photos.
No it was changed by RL Steve for RL reason and has nothing to do with the character or the painting inside the reality in which it exists.
*sound of immersion shattering *
But that’s not what they are doing. In present time, Undercity is gone, with these NPC’s probably dead. If we go back in time to the Cataclysm timeline with Zidormi, then we see the ALTERED dialogue. It’s like if in Star Wars for example, they made a new Bluray edition where Anakin doesn’t murder all the Jedi kids because that would be too evil, but everything else in the future stays the same. It’s a retcon.
That’s what they are doing, because that’s the only thing they are capable of. There’s not a sliver of creativity in the woke brigade, all they care is to not offend someone.
I will enjoy the day extremists will face their interior war, and not force it on others since they are not capable of facing it. Trust, the day will come.
Louis CK’s comeback was greater then other normal specials, so people will sit and don’t talk until they have enough of these extremists.
The forsaken questing experience portrays them nigh universally as sadistic monsters who murder out of mild inconvenience, treat prisoners as test subjects and plot long term to exterminate “the living”.
Meanwhile, in places like Before the Storm we see some very human forsaken genuinely trying to do what’s best for those around them.
The latter are later killed to destroy forsaken hope in anyone but Sylvanas but Voss (another inconsistent character) seems to want to steer the leaderless undead toward a better place.
The problem is that the cult of sylvanas seems to have been written as the monoculture of the forsaken, if not the undead as a whole and then you end up with a population seemingly wired to cruelty embracing something contrary the moment their god-queen looks the other way.
Curious.
So we’re reaching the point of more removals. It’s not going to stop now, it’s just going to keep going until we babyfy WoW entirely.
Say goodbye to any deep stories now too.
What a whole load of nonsense. Was anyone being offended by term ‘greenskins’? What in actual heck is wrong with this world?
Do we have real life orcs somewhere who protested against this? I mean I am beyond curious now, who the heck is dictating these changes?
What’s so baffling if there’s slavery in game? WE’RE NOT TALKING ABOUT REAL LIFE INCIDENTS HERE, WE’RE TALKING ABOUT A WHOLE DIFFERENT FANTASY WORLD ARGHFUGHISUFS…!
Brainwashing is now offensive??? Are we going to remove Lich King?! Rewrite lore?!
Ah but no…no let’s not look upon Madeleine Roux. Let’s keep eyes closed on that shall we? Keep her NPC around, because it’s TOTALLY OK TO BE RACIST TOWARDS WHITE MEN?!
Geesh! What is this, is everyone drunk or something?
She’s allowed to insult white people, she’s allowed to say all kinds of horrible things to them…but she’s gonna get away with that because if racism is directed towards white people then it’s ok? I guess that’s popular now!
BAH! I am so angry I just want to explode now!
Also notice how it’s all just one-sided?
Comments getting removed, people getting banned and silenced.
If you’re not on the same page, they’re gonna paint you in worst possible light.
Problem is that we’re talking about a very disturbed minority here that is being offended at every little thing. We should just erase everything at this point.
