Getting 9% hit chance for rogue without the precision talent?

Is it possible, or is that talent a must have? I’m playing a 31/8/12 rogue which I love, but I’m concerned about not being able to reach the 9% hit rating without the precision talents.

You don’t need hit cap. There is always a small chance to miss and at some point in gearing more damage is simply better than hit cap. You will rarely miss and do more damage per hit.

more hit = better up to max. i had a rogue with 22% hit and it owned every one.

9% hit is only for the abilitys to not miss. u want up to 24% hit if wanna land most of your main/offhand attacks. Hit is bis.

Wrong info. Correct info here: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/rogue-hit-cap/361901/7

You should probably check out a guide or take a look into the rogue classic/tbc discord. Id say this tho, you cant get enough hit early for combat swords, so get all you can, including talents

Also thats for yellow hitcap, theres also white hitcap

Not wrong info. and value of hit is even stronger in SoM as every boss fight lasts longer as well. think what ever you want, read what ever guide u want. but hit is extremly op and underrated. but what ever =)

Correct. Most (rogue) DPS comes from white hits, boosted by SnD, procs, WF, consumbles etc. Not a suprise - specially given (like somebody mentioned) SoM fights being longer - that hit is the sh!t. Being able to get 5 of talents is the biggest boost you can get, period.

But people only see a % and would much rather have a big yelllow number infront of them.

Thank you. I’ve decided to go for the +5% precision talent build.

Source: wowhead guide. Wowhead guide source: dude trust me. Open some 99-100% rogues logs for classic. They went way over the soft hit cap, because white hits are really important.

exactly, best way to see whats good is find some top parser rogue and inspect his gear.
