a year and a few months ago i created 2 characters on some classic server and lvled them up to 60. Back then i didnt have much time for raiding since i was in my last third of university, so i quit and hoped to pick it up from there and reach my goal of beating aq 40. Now that i haved finished my studies and i am free at least for a few months i wanted to get back into it. But now all my characters are gone. The deletion-restore dosnt help, and in the other forum posts i couldnt find much since i dont now when, how or where they disappeared. So i dont now if the server was closed it became tbc or whatever (I also forgot the server name.)
Does anybody now what to do?
If i cant retrieve them, does anybody have a server-recommendation for an alliance druide, who is mainly into raiding? Really want to beat AQ 40 for several years now…
Try checking Mograine on the WotLK server; some realms were closed and characters was moved to that server.
If you start from scratch you will have two options:
Create a new character in Classic Era (Level 60 classic = here), or
Create a new character in WotLK (up to level 80 you know).
If you chose Era (yay!), you should know that servers are connected into bigger clusters. This means all PvE realms works as one bigger realm, so PvE wise it doesnt matter what server you chose: it will be same guilds, raids, dungeons etc.
If you chose PvP then watch out: there are two PvP clusters, but only the Firemaw cluster is alive, so unless you like levelling alone, you should pick a realm in that cluster.
There is a third “unofficial” option:
Level on a Season of Mastery (SOM) server.
SOM provide 100% XP buff and 50% discount on level 40 mounts. The catch is that realms are empty and will be shut down soon, but before that you will get the chance to migrate to an Era (or WotLK) server.
When you look at the list of realms, don’t you see a number in brackets beside some of the realms - that’s where your characters are. Check both Classic Era and WOTLK - hopefully you will find your characters. I believe Blizzard doesn’t just delete characters.
That is true, the characters are there. But most likely somewhere in WotLK, and since OP wanted to go AQ40 it looks like he (she?) will be going the Era way.
Until now Blizzard haven’t deleted characters, but they WILL when the SOM realms closes down: all characters which havent migrated to Era or WotLK will be eliminated.
So those players taking a break until January will most likely loose their characters.
Yeah you were right, they were transferred to wotlk. Really great to have them there without a way to transfer them back.
Guess i have to start a new one. Thanks for the advice with the clusters, didnt know that. But its nice that i dont have to sweat over which server to pick.
… and make the new toons in SoM 100% Xp bonus and money too - and you can transfer to Era (Firemaw for PvP and Pyrewood for PvE probably) once it closes down - earliest date Nov. 1st.
