I am just disappointed to spend excessive time farming gilded crests on my 5th Alt when I have 100 plus on my other characters that are obsolete.
I hope my feedback which is mostly likely shared by the wider community to make crests account wide does not fall on deaf ears, making the game more friendly to play more characters is an aspect that both can increase player base and keep the attention of players who are bored but are not in the mood for excessive alt grind.
I have my main and 4 alts and I want to do another alt but i know i wont have the time to maintain all of them in terms of grinding mythic plus etc.
*Mythic plus has became a mandatory part for guild players if they want to raid to maintain their characters, for players blizzard should at least make the game Alt friendly by making currencies account wide.
I really wish Blizzard takes this feedback onboard and I would like to take this moment to remind them this was the case in Wrath, *all that we are asking for is to allow excess crests to be transferrable.
I think that they have not done that because it would be pretty bad for the game for players to farm their alts by playing their main.
By doing this the best way to farm crests for a character would be to farm on the main in order to send to the alt. That would be fine in a single player game but would make backfire pretty easily.
After gearing alts and crafting their items, people usually want to play those characters, problem is that they would have no experience with those specs. That would lead to a pretty bad experience for those players AND the players that do content with them.
I think it would be a way better idea to spend crests on your main in order to increase the crests that you get with alts (through a buff or something). I also want to make it more alt friendly, but farming a character without playing him seems kind of bad for the game.
They could still do a lot for alts, but I don’t think it’d be good to let people gear / acquire items from XYZ content without having actually done XYZ content on that character.
The question is: why are you playing your main if you need crests on your alt? Just change the char… and stop playing your main if you no longer need crests.
Yes, it’s probably due to some premade grouping that requires you to play your main, right? See, that’s why I only pug, that way I can play the char where playing it is actually still useful and not just the one that others want me to keep playing.
There’s already a solution for your problem, you just have to make a decision. Making crests account wide would be a terrible idea. It would just make alts undesired in group content, as everybody would prefer getting an overgeared main instead of a badly geared alt in their group. See where this is going?
All currencies should be transferable between your characters whether or not they have ever seen the content they dropped from.
I will agree to a transfer cost (it’s 20% for honor, could be 20% for crests/conquest/whatever, too) if we really have to be stingy for no reason whatsoever, but all currencies should be transferable on your account
66% fee, just like the up-trade at the vendor (pay 45 crest to get 15 better ones).
And it’s for a reason: you progress the character you play, not another character. By that standard, I should be able to put my unused Gilded Crest onto the AH.
No, you should not be able to put them on the AH; they’re a currency, and as such they should be transferable between the player’s characters - they should not be shareable with other players.
If they weren’t a currency they should be warbandbound, and still not shareable with other players.
By all means, keep the 90 crest conversation and make the bag with the 15 in it be warband shared.
No. It might be a “problem” for M+/raiders, but honestly I couldn’t care less (and let’s be honest, based on the gazillion other threads here, this isn’t what’s going to break them), I simply want to be able to use the things I get on alts rather than be annoyed by them.
Then maybe alts just aren’t for you. I’m never annoyed by them and if I want to gear an alt, I also want to play that alt while earning said gear. Then again, I also stop doing content with one char once they’ve got what I wanted with them, so maybe that’s your problem, because lazyness or premades cause you to keep playing your main.
I could say the same to you. Maybe alts aren’t for you if you feel they’d be made undesireable by making all currencies accountshared.
But here’s the thing: I’ve done a few delves on alts because I like delves and I want the 250 chest achivement. That means those alts get runed crests, maybe even 3 gilded if they get a map (which is soulbound bc Blizzard can’t make up their mind as to whether it’s the player or the character that achieves things), but my alts don’t really have anything to use either for, why shouldn’t I be able to pool my ressources where I can use them?
It’s not about “lazyness” or “premades” - whatever you even mean by that - it’s about me, the player, getting to use the ressources I gain from spending my time in the game.
It’s not how I feel, it’s about how others act. It’s already harder to get into M+ groups with an alt with low ranking… now imagine ppl can just request you to come with your best geared char instead.
Well, see, that’s the thing about alts and delves, you can “abuse” the system by fanning out your runs across several chars, since keys can be earned on mutiple chars a week. If you’d want those drops to be account wide, key/map/crest drops would most likely also be capped to your account for a week etc. It happend with other stuff before. Making things account bound often comes with a very undesireable drawback… or simply wouldn’t work in different content.
Then put a cap on it. You can only move 15 of each type per week per account. Not enough to hinder your beloved M+ alt, but a help for those who aren’t touching that with a ten foot pole.
I think the issue here is your making an assumption about Mythic +, you assumed that a large portion of “raiders” want to do mythic plus when thats not the case.
I have many guildies, friend etc who dont like M+ and dont like the grind but blizzard has made it compulsory, so playing an alt in M+ is not appealing when all you want to do is just play your alt in raids.
And in regards to Game play you join a raid and if they dont like your performance they can remove you, you dont learn to play an ALT in M+:
You can read up about how to play your ALT
You can do it on a dummy
You can do it on LFR/Raids
Making me waste a bunch of hours on my 5th alt when I have to maintain other Characters is not feasible specially time consuming if you have other commitment and additionally it makes all the crests you have as a currency void and not of any use.
I mean I thought that it would be without question that this would be something implemented after a character was BiS and upgraded every items/when the crests were uncapped.
If you are advocating for being able to send crests to other characters throughout the season that bypass the weekly cap, that is most game breaking thing that I have heard in the last months.
That would mean that the optimal gameplay is to have in the first week 10 alts ready to farm dungeons/raids, that after u farm the gear on your main, you farm and send all the crests from your alts.
True. Tbh i dont eveb know if it is still capped. As long as it doesnt bypass it sure tho dont see why its capped. Your saving thw. For the one specific drop generally
