Gilded Crests - Hero > Myth track upgrade

I would love to see the ability to use crests to boost the track item of an already owned piece of gear.

Something like 90 Gilded Crests, can be used to increase a piece of gear from 6/6 Hero, to 1/6 Myth

at this point in the season, most people are in a situation where they are somewhere between 626/633 (unless you are mythic raiding i imagine and u have more pieces)

As someone who doesnt raid, im basically at the point now where the only upgrades you get, are out of the weekly vault which is hit or miss. (and a crafted maybe if you have a suitable slot)

im at about 755/990 Gilded crests used, so in this situation allowing us to buy an item track upgrade would be cool to upgrade BiS items to the myth track, but we will still be capped so you cant just spam up to 639 instantly.

even if it was something ridiculous like you need 90 of each crest, to merge together to make this special item, i wouldnt care, at least it would give me some kind of controllable progression.

This should have been the case since day one…
Let us actually upgrade gear by farming the required tokens.
Heck, I don’t even need a change in the rate at which we obtain them, just the possibility.

Yeah I don’t raid (except the odd LFR for weeklies) or do high M+ and I feel that I’m about to hit a wall on all of my lvl 80 characters when it comes to progression real soon, and once that wall hits, I’ll probably unsub, at least until the next season.
So much for this being the best expansion for solo-players…

Why do itemlevel/track item grind to a halt at T8 Delves when there are 3 more tiers already in the game? Not having T9-T11 Bountiful Delves drop Hero-gear/Runed Crests and Delvers Bounty have a chance to drop Mythic-gear feels like a missed opportunity for increased longevity for the game.

Why is there no option to upgrade track items with Crests or Valor? I don’t care how grindy it would be, I would rather have something to grind and look forward to (I’m not adverse to grinding, I’ve played on and off since 2005) than to simply hit a wall where there’s nothing else I can do to improve my characters on my own.

And before some random schmuck goes “but why do you need better gear, you don’t do Mythic Raids, fufu”, it doesn’t take a neurologist to figure out that without a sense of progression, people will stop playing their characters, and by extension, the game.

Most people who play this game are adults with families and jobs, they don’t have time for dedicated Mythic raiding guilds, nor the patience to deal with the current atrocity that is M+ (there are exceptions of course, but you are not the norm.)

Give us something to do once we hit ilvl 619 Blizzard, please…

Edit: I guess technically there is the smallest of holes in that progression-wall; Once 619 I could start converting Runed Crests to Gilded Crests, and continue that way up to ilvl 626, but given that it it would essentially take 45(!) T8+ Delve Runs to upgrade one piece of gear +3 ilvls, or to put it into perspective:
To upgrade my gear in its entirety from 619 to 626, would require 2880 Runed Crests, or 1440 T8+ Delves completed … and thats for one character.
…Yeah, I’d honestly stop playing at that point instead. Thats not grind, thats slow death…

delves are too quick and easy to provide myth gear or crests.

upgrade with crests would make sense and at least should be unlocked in a .0.5 patch.

the vault casino is quite annoying

Most classes can’t do T11 Delves solo, so it would become something similar to M+ where you party up, except with max lifes instead of a time limit.

The Delves themselves shouldn’t reward Mythic, but Hero in the Bountiful Chests, + 2 Crests. (hardly “too quick”, 6 Delves take longer than 1 M+, for an equal amount of Crests))
Mythic gear should be Delvers Bounty only, which is RNG and pretty rare, so it would give a sense of progression without turning other sources of gear redundant.

Basically, it would go from Champ Gear (Chest) + Hero Gear (Bounty) in T8 to Hero Gear (Chest) + Mythic Gear (Bounty) in, say T10 or T11.

Good, that means you have the option to not do them and instead do something else.
Now give the rest of us a similar option, that is, to not have to do something we find boring or flat out horrible due to the community that participates in them at large (M+).

Thing is that delves have basically no mechanics. if you are forced to group just to survive autoattack it wont satisfy the delves crowd anyways, because they want to do it solo anyways.

rng mythic gear would be the worst idea.
not only are 90% delve items garbage trinket but it will be absolute change progrrssion between people. one get lucky and gets 4 myth items per week another got nothing in 10 weeks.

currently the only people who have that option are myth raiders.
m+ is far behind raiding as well.

delves cannot reward myth gear until they change how they work.
I can farm hero gear on a char that cannot even get into m+ because he is ilvl 560.

as long as delves are just about surving autoattacks by shear gear, the should not award high gear for little time investment.
make them more challenging like mage tower or green fire quest and we can see.
pretty much like “??” difficulty could reward myth gear but eben zekvir is a bit bare bones where it just comes down to surviving his autos.
dont know, i think delves need to be more engaging to reward more stuff.

2 crests / delve isn’t what I would call quick and easy…
And there’s absolutely no myth gear rewards from Delves.

T9-T11 feels like it was intended as a personal challenge, something you clear for bragging rights mostly.

Also keep in mind that clearing T8 solo can be a challenge for a lot of people (not everyone is a god tier pro player), putting gear behind a T11 would probably mean it would end up being out of reach for those, which is not something you would want to see in content that was meant to be for “everyone” to enjoy.

I’d say this would be more of a “player” problem (once again, not everyone is pro and there is nothing wrong with that), not the class being unable to clear it, you have to press more buttons in a T11 than in T8, you may have to plan your pulls, utilize CCs your class has at disposal and maybe even get consumables.

That is perfectly fine, considering the game calls it “unfathomable challenge” in the tooltip.

As I said before, some players will struggle even with T8, grouping up with others for T11 would eventually end up in their inexperience showing, bricking the run and people leaving because revives got depleted and there is no reason to continue.

Something that can happen even in T8.

What you would be getting is a watered down M+, people will go for meta comps, blame others for failure and leave when revives get depleted.

Also the increased rewards would bring even more people from the M+ crowd since it would give another source of hero track gear, and with myth gear from bounty it would probably make M+ obsolete, since you can only get myth track from vault doing mythics.

This would in turn cause even more toxicity in delve content, which would most likely completely ruin it for you.

This is a legit issue, the crest drop from delves is like Brann yelling “found a bit of crests” instead of gold, you barely notice you got any, it probably wouldn’t hurt anyone to actually up that by quite a bit.

Something decent, like if you are required to fill the vault with 8 runs, it would be nice to cap the weekly amount in similar number of runs.

that they dont drop crests basically is a different story.
with hero gear you can at least skip a lot of upgrades.
i dont like the crest system anyeays, even if you run m+ like me you will hate it.
I mean you have to run over a hundred dungeons to upgrade your stuff or even more if you craft stuff.

delves are so easy that you must run into 10 mobs to actually die if you have 600+ ilvl. i mean what rewards do you want from 10-15min solo auto completion content?

Simply keel progressing, it’s not that hard to understand. Remove the carrot and people will stop doing stuff.

sure if you just want to progress gear by doing delves over and over that is fine but you hit the end very soon anyways because there are basically no crests and that wouldnt change if myth track was available.
the difference is if myth track was available, they would force a ton of player to run this content instead of the content they like to do.
delvers are not forced to run m+ because they never did it before either even though it was the main prog system.
m+ers would need to run delves either for more myth loot or for better chances to get good vault stuff
and since delves are so easy, everyone would run them regardless of they are fun or not especially because they are so accessible

nobody is forced to run anything.
Please stop using this as an argument, because you have options to get mythic gear:

  • M+
  • Mythic Raiding
  • Potentially T11 Delves

Nobody is forced to run any of that.
People really need to stop this behavior and chasing the meta like chickens and just play the game.

They don’t, fix the M+ loot system.

If you’re at 619 my advice would be to swap delve difficulty to 1 and blast through them so you can get 45 runed crests a week from the coins with minimal effort

Still only 1 upgrade every two weeks beyond 619 but better then doing 45 t8 bountiful delves for the same amount of crests (as opposed to 16 t1s every two weeks assuming you do 0 world events)
Started doing it this week, t1 delves feel like legacy dungeons and its a massive time safer & if you’re still completing rep grinds, bountiful t1s give full rep

Personally I am just calling it when reaching 619, imo delves dont give enough gilded crests to justify having more then 2 maybe 3 hero track items (I’ve only gotten enough to fully upgrade 1 hero track) nor do they give enough runed crests to justify farming them to conversion once you can convert to gilded crests.

This is most likely what I’ll end up doing.

I have suggested this feature no less than 4 times, and been ignored.

Given Blizzard has no interest in making m+ a route to upgrade to 636 properly, this should of totally been in from the start.

I’d only be worried about some world items being way too strong to pass on spending all your crests on. Something like the Candle Confidant at 639 would be absolutely busted. Even at 619 and 626, it’s often on par or even outperforms fully upgraded BiS myth track trinkets.

Because if they did this, they’d have to also allow it with lower tier crests for lower track items, like champion → hero, meaning you’d be able to upgrade the lowest track gear all the way up to max. And I won’t lie, farming RNG world drops in trivial content and spending tons of crests on them is not very high on the list of things I’d want to do.

You don’t have to.
It’s just another possibility of upgrading gear, alongside everything else we already have.
You either get the drops/rewards at the appropriate point, or you upgrade a lower tier to a higher tier.

Nothing mentioned here removes or changes anything of that.

Let people use enchanted crests to upgrade items to the next track, as long as…

1: if it’s a m+ item they have sufficient rating to match the difficulty of the ilvl they’re upgrading to.

2: if it’s a raid item they’ve killed the boss on the difficulty they’re upgrading to.

3: upgrading champ delve items to hero requires all delves on +8. Delve items cannot be upgraded to myth.

  1. No, don’t force people into M+
  2. No, don’t force people int Mythic raids
  3. Fine for me

1: Its an m+ item you’re already doing mythic+
2: You shouldn’t be able to have items at ilvls from bosses you haven’t killed.
