(Gilnean RP) Nightfall Brigade

For Gilneas, by Gilneans .

This is our motto, by it we shall aid all efforts to secure our homeland firmly back into the hands of its rightful ruler. We shall spare no cost, personal or material in achieving this goal.

FOR GILNEAS !

About the Nightfall Brigade

As the motto says, Nightfall Brigade ranks are primarily comprised of Gilneans, be they afflicted with the worgen curse or not. Rarely, a non-gilnean may be allowed to join the Nightfall Brigade, but that will be decided on a case to case basis, when and if they should come up. Every class is welcome to the Nightfall Brigade, aside from Death Knights (whether a Death Knight IC or not), with certain limitations imposed to Warlocks and Shadow Priests ( they will be informed of those limitations IC during the recruitment process ), as for their own security and that of the rest of the Nightfall.

It must be said that our RP mainly revolves around two things, restricted RP PvP and the restoration of Gilneas. First is done via any number of campaigns that regularly happen on the server or something we plan out our selves with our Horde counterparts. The restoration of Gilneas part is done via a prolonged chain of DM-ed PvE events led by our members and its unknown when and if the thing will ever be done.

Brief History

The Nightfall Brigade was formed in the months that lead to the Legions demise on Argus. With the Horde forces still present and in great numbers in Silverpine and Hillsbrad, the Brigade took refuge in the township of Surwich, in the Blasted lands.

From there, they joined every major campaign that was held by Alliance against the Horde or any other force that threatened the Alliance forces. They took part in the Strahnbad campaign, Stonetalon campaign, Southern Barrens campaign, Northrend campaign, Uldum campaign and many more. Among the latest once are the defense of Ashenvale and Darkshore and the assault on Lordaeron.

With the fall of Undercity and the somewhat lessened Forsaken forces in Hillsbrad and Silverpine, Nightfall Brigade made a daring thrust towards Gilneas, where they now reside, using Keel harbor as their base of operations against the Forsaken in Silverpine and any danger that might befell them in Gilneas.

Nightfall Brigade structure

The Brigade is led by the Marshal and the lieutenants of specific units within the Brigade. Every unit within the Brigade has its purpose to fulfill.

Assault :
Nightfall Brigades main weapon and shield. Be you heavy or light in armor, if you engage the enemy in close combat, then this is where you belong. Whether from a shield wall or a flanking maneuver, your task is to engage the enemy, stop their advance and push them back.

Recon :
Nightfall Brigades eyes and ears, a subgroup of the Assault group, the unseen, the unheard, the silent blade that is hidden and will strike when least expected. This clandestine unit is tasked with many things, be it a simple recon of the enemy, fighting the enemy head on to the more unsavory jobs, that may include sabotage and assassinations. If you are a skilled in slight of hands or hiding in plain sight, this will be your unit.

Ranged :
The long arm of the Nightfall Brigade. The silent arrows or the ear shattering shots from a rifle, arcane spells or hellish demons, these are the Ranged. They use their skills and spells to feed and clothe the Brigade as well as serve as their long range weapon, steadily forcing the enemy to take cover behind their shields as they rain projectiles and magic at them.

Support :
The pillar of the Nightfall Brigade, whether you heal your allies or strengthen them in combat, you belong in this group. All those that use their skills to heal other members of the Brigade, be it with magical skills or the more mundane ways, belong in this group.

Nightfall Brigade does not have a set uniform in any of the units, but a surcoat of the Brigade is mandatory. We also prefer darker themed apparel, whether brown, black, dark blue or a mix of it.

It is expected from ALL soldiers within the Brigade to act cordially towards their fellow soldiers, officers and towards outsiders. While on a battlefield or a training exercise, discipline is to be held in the utmost regard.

Joining the Nightfall Brigade

Those that wish to join us can do so in two ways.

  1. You make your way to Keel harbor, which is known to be the Brigades base and talk to the officers there about joining our ranks.
  2. Approach our recruiters in Stormwind who will then decide if you are a acceptable candidate and you will then be accepted into the Brigade and sent to Keel Harbor. Our recruiters will most likely recruit there every Tuesday.

ALL recruitments are done via an IC interview.

Nightfall Brigade is currently on Kalimdor, doing their training there. While there, they may assist in the night elven struggle against the Horde invaders. We will be based in Farwatchers Glen for the time being.

“Any friend of Greymane is a friend of mine.”

And you can be our friend too! As long as you’re no backstabbing sailor that tries to take over our ship, Liam’s Spear (named after our brave late Prince Liam), while traveling to Kalimdor. Braxigan may have been too careless with them but when you mess with one hound you mess with the whole pack. A mutiny that had no success against the Nightfall!

For Gilneas!

We did some restructuring so i’ve made some changes to the original recruitment post. Also a small update, we are still in Farwatchers Glen, doing our forest training.

Still in Stonetalon Mountains, but preparing for the Jessinas Northrend campaign!

Good luck.

“No matter what, we are not returning with fewer soldiers”

As the Nightfall gathered at the Farwatcher’s Glen, the plan was discussed near the moonwell. The Horde reinforced their patrolling groups in the area, the plan was to force the incoming Horde Smugglers into our chokepoint for an ambush. Darthias brought up the idea of making blockades out of boulders and rooting trees, which would force the Smugglers to our ambush and hinder any reinforcing patrolling groups. The Nightfall saddled the horses and took off, with one last thought everyone agreed upon with this mission: ‘Abort the mission if it goes wrong. No matter what, we are not returning with fewer soldiers tonight.’

They set off to the ridge overshadowing the Sun Rock Encampment. As Roldric and Darthias went to move the boulders and overgrow the trees, Kelly Astesie and Braxigan overlooked the pass. As soon as Kelly spotted the incoming Smugglers the other two were done just in time with preparing the blockade. To make sure that any reinforcements would be hindered to aid the Smugglers, Darthias stayed behind near the eastern crossing and made sure to root the trees over eachother to block the road north.

Now at the chokepoint, the brigade made it just in time to hide and wait for the Smugglers. The smugglers were like ducks to be caught by eagles from above, as the Nightfall charged at them. Grunts protecting the supplies tried what they could and fight back, but Asie’s holy prayer healed any wounds caused and the fight was done before it even started. The noise and smell of fire burning caught them as they captured the Smugglers’ wagon of supplies, they rallied the horses and took the wagon back to the Glen. Six grunts slain and a goblin taken for interrogation, and more importantly: all five soldiers made it back. A night to rest, as Brax walks back to his companions on the balcony with all the worrying away. More danger might lure in the Nightfall’s near future
but we will not back down!

The sunlight shining bright into his eyes, Braxigan puts his right hand just above his eyes as he looks at the letters sent to him. The young sergeant’s emotions run through his mind as he reads then all.

Sorrow, for the report of recent resigns. Sorrow to be turned into relief, for the report of our recent victories in Northrend. Relief turned into fear, for the report of the Westfall Encampment. Fear to remain in his mind, being so far away from his company
he stood on a balcony somewhere near the Feathermoon Harbour as the supplies were boarded onto the ship.

“Hawkcrest,” an elf approached Brax, “I forgot to give you this with the other letters.” He was given another the letter, this one bearing the sigil of not only the Nightfall Brigade but also that of Gilneas. He reads through the letter, the fear in his mind disappearing for a moment as he read the last sentences.

To Sergeant Braxigan Hawkcrest,

Your lost equipment during the War of Thorns has finally been found by our scavengers. You will be able to collect your goods at the Stormwind Bank, this letter to be used as your official reciept.

For Gilneas,

-The Greyguard Officials

PS: congratulations for your one of year military service, may you bring many more years of military service in the name of King Genn Greymane and Gilneas.

‘Has it already been one whole year?’ He could still remember the day he was recruited, the warfront on Ashenvale in the north. His heart raising in his chest as he reminded himself of all the days he spend as a soldier. The days of pushing into the lands to Lordaeron, to the skirmishes in the Dwarven Lands, to the campaigns in both the Howling Fjord and in Silverpine, to the missions in Gilneas itself

Fear turned into pride, proud for what he stands for. Proud of the company he belongs to, but most of all proud for the band of brothers and sisters he spends so many of his days with. With this pride, he sails off with the Nightfall ship. Proudly, he will return to his company once again

During these last couple of weeks, something noteworthy has happened within the guild. Where new recruits joined the garden of the Nightfall and start sprouting their promising nature among us, some older flowers in the garden were picked and to be planted in other gardens to show their bright colours elsewhere.

As someone who just reached his one year membership within this guild I can see the difference one year makes. So many new faces that joined us, but unfortunately many other faces that left us. Some I just got to know for a day, some for weeks or months and even a few for my whole year.

However I can say this for certain: the time I spend with these 12 months was so worth it and I dont want it to end at all. Every time I wasted roleplaying it was actually never wasted at all. As a wise person once said:
"Don't be sad that it ends, be happy that you were able to experience it."

But our time here has not ended yet, as a new era dawns on us. The gilnean garden is here to stay and so is this Brax-tulip. Those who left have passed the NFB-torch to those who came, and who knows may we meet the former members in future campaigns or just sudden wonderful interactions.

Here's to another great couple of months with the Nightfall Brigade, as always feel free to stop by and say hi whether you're a friend; stranger or even a former member. Any friend of Greymane is a friend of us. :slightly_smiling_face:

-The Braxman

Started out Roleplaying in this guild and I must admit, I haven’t a bad thing to say about it. Congratulations for cementing yourselves as THE Gilnean guild on Argent Dawn.

Gilneas will rise again!

Thank you for the praise, we try to do our best. As of tomorrow, we will be back in Gilneas.

We have returned to Keel harbor, after long weeks of absence. All of those that wish to RP with us or join our ranks, you can find us there. Or inquire among our recruiters in Stormwind city.

As the sails were lifted and the anchor dropped, the sailors carried the supplies from Liam’s Pride over to the Stormwind Harbour. Crates and barrels of Gilnean coloured scarves wrapped around them, signaling them as supplies to be given to the refugees. Braxigan carried a few himself, the heavy weight and the harbour’s awful smell familiar to the former dockhand. He took a moment to take in the aroma of his past, closing his eyes as his mind drifted away from the present.

But that was interrupted by one of the Farwatchers who took his attention by rasping his voice oh so loudly, making the young sergeant snap out of his thoughts and focus his gaze on the large worgen.
“Sergeant Hawkcrest, my pack thanks you for taking us on the journey east. We hope the supplies granted for the refugees would be enough during these dire times.”
Braxigan smirked, “I bet they will appreciate anything they can get, maybe you ought to take some with you to the northern Wetlands.”
But the worgen shook his head. “Even if the city is packed to the brim with refugees, our glade in the swamp is no safe haven for the refugees.”

The two of them shook hands, before the packleader departed to lead his pack to a small band of night elves and worgen nearby. Looking like druids and harvest witches respectively, probably an escort to guide his temporary companions. One of them kept staring at Braxigan, her blue eyes meeting those of his. Their pack looking quite familiar, but as they dissapeared in the distance he couldnt figure out who they were or what the one staring witch wanted from him.

“Oi, 'sarge, now that we dropped them supplies for the refugees are we to sail to Gilneas right now?” a sailor asked, staring at Braxigan with his left eye and brown eyepatch over his right eyesocket.
“Get a short rest, find the Nightfall supplies and bring them aboard. I will be visiting the Bank before we embark again.”
As the one-eyed man goes to yell to his fellow sailors, Braxigan set off to find the Stormwind Bank. Walking through the Cathedral Square his gaze met a lot of different banners, from bearing the sigils of so-called noble lords to newly formed regiments. Amidst them individuals gathered around the fountain, going about their day.

The bridge carrying him over the canals, he made his way towards the Stormwind Bank. The crowded ground that seperates the bank and the auction house was even more populated than the Cathedral Square, not only people but also various animals like horses; sabres; donkeys and even a few exotic elekks or yaks. Squeezing his way through he got into the bank and made his way in front of one of the officials.
“Tally ho, this letter here told me I could get me stuff that was salvaged up north? From the attack on Lordaeron.” He handed over to the clerk, who went off in the back of the bank to search for his goods.
After a while they returned with a large brown bag, inside he could see his old stuff:
-The grey headband with the sigil of Gilneas.
-His old shortsword and buckler he fought with.
-a waterskin, with an unfamiliar dark wooden root reaching out.
-his journal, wrapped with the same kind of looking dark wooden roots.
Thinking it probably was caught by a druid’s spell, he packed his things and he head back to the ship. He was heading back home again

The Brigade has finally had some rest from the recent adventures and has recuperated. Training has resumed as well as gathering reinforcements so we can keep the area around Keel harbor secure.

Also, this.

The Nightfall has halted their training for a nearby threat: The dark woods of the Blackwald are infested with spiders once again. And while we’ve slain double a dozen already, the arachnid force doesn’t seem to give up. The future is uncertain how we can stop them
but we may have a lead: yesterday evening we were able to retrieve the notes and documents of a Harvest Witch that mended and monitored the region of and around the Blackwald. Unfortunately the Harvest Witch was the victim to a forsaken force months ago, so it is our job now to find out what can be done to halt and destroy the infestation.

Interested in joining us? Our recruiters are looking around Stormwind for brave Gilneans to answer the call to arms, or find us in Keel Harbour yourself. Regardless of joining or not, feel free to swing by for happy hour at the inn! :beers:

After aiding and donating to the Refugee Support Gathering, the Nightfall Brigade has returned to Keel Harbour. While our field of work is on the battlefield and in the frontline of war, as fellow Gilneans we would never pass on aiding our kinsmen in need.

Be sure to swing around some time, and do know that we are still open for recruits eager to join our military band of Gilneans!
