Give casuals a chance - Siege of Boralus

It’s not that bad, you open the menu, choose dungeons, from the drop down select the specific mythic you are after. You either apply to an existing group or create your own. People rarely put any requirement in as it’s just M0.

This is how one of my guild members felt in Legion, when pathfinder required you to do part of a raid and a dungeon to complete required quests. These quests have since been removed, as there are less people queuing for Legion dungeons and raids nowadays, but the point is that some people simply do not want to do group content to experience the story. I agree that quests that relate to the story of such a major character of Jaina should not be dungeon locked.

As DPS they play the game surviving by their own most of the time… pack of mobs, rares, elites, hard quests, world boss… going to a mythic it’s the same thing… just shoot and kill. Maybe you’ve got to overcome some mechanics and a wipe or 2 Is in the normality.
The struggle in these dungeon quests is not the dungeon, but the endless queue to enter one.

Edit: you’d say… what about tanks and healers? And my answer is why do you play those classes if you’re not planning to do dungeons or raids?

Is it really that bad if the game pushes you just a little bit out of your comfort zone? I mean you might even gonna like the dungeons if you give them a try.

God knows how many noobs - including me - started raiding just to see Ragnaros at the end of his lair. And let me just tell you this. Even if you think otherwise we probably can agree that it gonna feel much better turning in that quest, knowing you overcame an obstacle and not just killed another 5 boars somewhere.

And if you mainly play this game for the story you might not like dungeoneering but you have to acknowledge the fact that tying certain quest to dungeons makes the story more immersive. I mean, you are already a one-man army by yourself, but sometimes it’s good to know even we the players have limits. We cannot stop the Legion by ourselves, we had to team up. And we cannot stop the Ashvane attack on Boralus, we had to gather our allies to fight by our side.

WoW is a multiplayer game nog a single player game…

so how is it “strange” that at some part u need the help of other players ?

and to be fair a M-0 dungeon really aint hard even for the most casual players…
if u use the LFG tool u need to have ilvl 305 to join a heroic dungeon group.

me and some friends who played from legion ( and some since vanilla ) went from “normal” into M+0 we skipped heroic so we could gear faster.

we cleared M+0 dungeons when we had ilvl around 280-300 ( yes it was dam hard with low ilvl and not knowing the dungeons )
at this point even if u just use the LFG, LFD tool & clear warfronts + WQ u wont have a problem to atleast reach a ilvl of +340 @ that point a M+0 is nothing it is the same as a heroic dungeon when ur ilvl is 305…

again WoW is a multiplayer game when they start hiding storyline content behind mytic raid of even heroic i would complain but so far they only locked storyline & quest behind LFR or behind M+0

makes me think of vanilla wow… some quests u just couldt complete unless u had a raid guild… hard times

I agree with OP, there is no inherent benefit to having this dungeon exclusively locked at mythic, give people the choice, lock it behind a questline if you must.

Add it to the confusing game design philosophy pile.

I have to disagree with this. I’ve seen plenty of people, both on forums and in game, who haven’t even fully cleared LFR yet, or not even stepped into LFR, and have never touched a Mythic dungeon, and yet they’re running around with 355-360 ilvl.

I Disagree with this as well. I’ve been able to easily get into Mythic groups on ALL of my 120 characters from around 310 ilvl. At this point, barely anyone cares about your ilvl, as long as it’s over 300, since, as stated above, they can pretty much be soloed.

If I have a friend healer/tank come with me on my Warlock, I can EASILY carry the damage of the other 2 players. Normally I do more damage than both people combined, and I’m only 364 ilvl and pulling 15-20k dps. I’ve seen some DPS doing 30+ plus on boss fights.

If I’m not on my Warlock, then I can tank it, and me and my healer friend can carry all 3 DPS through most, of not all, Mythics. I’ve soloed bosses on a 355 ilvl DH tank, because the rest of the group has died near the start xD

As an Alliance player you haven’t missed anything, because there isn’t anything to miss.

All the story behind the raid is on the Horde side.

Edit: dafaq is up with this new forum and picking the char you post on seemingly at random…

There are some random issues when first switching over to the new forums. Suggestions include logging out of both the current and old forums. Clearing your cache then logging back in to the new forums.

If problems persist, you can change the p/w on your account, that forces everything to reset. You can change it back after if you don’t actually want to change it.

Putting part of the story behind a mythic 0 dungeon is honestly the least confusing bit of game design in all of BFA to me. It is completely intentional to try and make people who usually do not do them, try them.

I am the perfect example of that, until Legion I only did RP and quests cause I played for the story alone (legion overall was a bit of a mess but The Suramar story in a vacuum was great) Had I not been sent to the Arcway and Court of Stars I still might be doing only that.

I did however give it a shot and it was actually a load of fun, I met new people and eventually found myself a guild to do m+ and heroic raiding, something I thought I would never be interested in.

Now of course that is not the same for everyone and I am sure a lot of people who have tried it before and did not like it will not change their mind but it is a good way to motivate people who have never tried it to give it a shot.

Plus I am pretty certain they will make a heroic queueable version at some point just like the Legion mythic only dungeons.

Just imagine the nerd rage if any sort of tiny kind of story was locked behind even 200 cr…

I’d rage about that, since PvP doesn’t really have a story behind it, so there would be no reason for stories to be hidden behind a rating :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: But, if they did add a battleground that was story-driven, kind of in the sense with how they’re doing the next raid, then I think it might get more people into doing PvP

Like having to get 2 BG wins for the MoP Legendary Cloak chain? That was the last time I actively did PvP content.

I remember that and all those orphan achievements that involved BGs

Story within a game should be entirely solo or have Group content at regular points. While a standard Mythic Dungeon isn’t the hardest content in the game, it still requires a totally full picture view to understand that some players who have different ‘multi-player’ interactions to yours may find that anything above Heroic Dungeons is, to them, a challenge. It sometimes baffles me when others choose to look at the game only from the level of content they regularly play.

Yes but that was queueable. Not like behind mythic dungeons

And if it could only be completed in rated?

If they only made it a 5-10 man rated BG, then I think it’d be alright. But, you say getting a 200 rating in Arena’s, but this can be done just by queuing up and playing with random people as well.

True… but from my point of view I can’t stand PvP and only did it ‘because I had to’, if I wanted the Cloak. Like OP said, I don’t get that a Mythic level Dungeon was required as a last ‘episode’ to what was, up to that point, a soloable venture.

I have to agree with you there, most if not all of those saying that M0 is very easy have at least current curve, if not a lot of mythic kills in raid and M+10 under their belt.

And fair play to them for playing at this level; however I do feel that they are generally so far removed from the content the average casual does (and finds “difficult”) they don’t understand the perspective I am viewing this from.

I also think from a business perspective that it is poor decision making. After all wasn’t the reason quoted for LFR being so “players could see the story”?

I agree with it as well. If most of the story is soloable, then it all should be. Putting it behind Mythic dungeons is a little annoying, since people have to MAKE groups themselves. If they added a LFG section for the story parts dungeons (So, SoB for Alliance and King’s Rest for Horde), then it’d make more sense. Keep it on Mythic difficulty, but have it so it can be queued up for, rather than trying to find a group.

And I’m not saying that that M0 is easy for everyone, I’m saying that it has been easy for me and 1+ friend to help 30+ people run SoB for the storyline, because they’ve struggled to find groups for it. I’ve even solo helped a decent amount of people by playing as a tank to help them get the story complete.
