…if you want to bann people for mind controlling them-,-
So what happened/s? tl;dr: You get banned if you mind control the quest giver for the rallying cry buf and kill him.
You all know this cute buf that gives you some ap, 10% spellcrit and 5% meele crit - rallying cry of the dragonslayers! A lot of guilds use this for their raids, and “world buffing” has become part of the wow classic raiding experiance for many.
Now, this particular buf has a little annoyance: It can only be dropped once each few hours. (I think its four?) - So, if all the guilds on a server start to raid at 19:00, but some random dude that doesn’t know this mechanic turns in his pug ony head at 17:22, this random guy ruins a raid evening (or at least parts of it) for a lot of people.
Luckily, there is a sollution some of the most dedicated guilds can do! Level up an alt priest on the opposing faction, mind control the quest mob, kill him, he respawns 5 mins later and you can turn in the head again and the entire server gets the buf (Again) and everyone is happy and wins!.. everyone… exceeeeeeept… the person who decided to level up an alt so everyone on the server can raid with this buf up. Because they apparently get banned.
So happened today, our guild leader got a 3 day bann for “grieving” - obv. at 20:00, where no live support is available, and during our raid.
So… Blizzard… if you don’t want people to mind control the mob please do one of the following:
Immunity to mind control
Remove cooldown from buf
Give the priest a big fat warning on mind control cast that this action might get you banned
could you elaborate what you mean by the comment “go retail on their asses”?
If you mean “don’t bann someone for a mechanic almost all big guilds are using to get their bufs without any announcements or warnings that you might get banned for it” - yes
Break dungeon groups to use hearthstone that is on cooldown
Hamstring kiting
hamstring spam for windfury
solo hunter / mage / Wl DM North / east run’S.
Worldbufs in general
-Boosting in ZF / ZG / Mara one pull runs / Dungeon sin general
I think I’d prefere it if blizzard would just leave the game as a sandbox as it is, just not bann people for enhancing the experiance of other players (because… noone is at harm… if you don’t want the buf you can rightclick it)
Uhm, the email guildlead received said something else ^^ Since the priest exists solely to mc this npc, and he hasen’t used mind control on something else and the bann-email specifically mentioned “destructive use of mind control”
There is no live support. They may act like support, but all they actually do is send canned responses and close tickets. If you want any support your best bet is always to raise hell on reddit and the forums, and hope enough people upvote your stuff so some Blizzard employee decides to look into it.
Thanks for firing your suppport staff Activision-Blizzard. I bet you saved lot’s of money.

Blizzard stated long time ago that they won’t take actions against these resets.

Nonetheless, any change to WoW Classic has to be very carefully considered, so for the time being, we’re going to leave this functionality in place. We will continue to monitor this situation, and we may have to change it in the future. We will not suspend players for resetting the buff or attempting to prevent others from doing so. We will continue to take action against players who send hostile or offensive chat messages.

Your guys might should upload the e-mail on a image and throw it in here, could be quite nice to see that the gms ain’t following protocols and just another prove they have a simple machine to auto generate the ”bans” now and then when flagged enough by other players.
With the simple, right click and report in-game function.
