Gnome aggro range - bug

Hello,

After spending the obligatory 5 hours in queue as well as the 20 mins corpse running past 2 horde raids ganking the DM entrance and area me and my group finally arrived in DM north.

First 2 runs all mobs were bugged and we couldn’t attack anything and nothing attacked us, the third time the entire instance came running at us as soon as we entered. We decided to reset a forth time and hope stuff would work as they should and lo and behold it did.

Up until Captain Kromcrush I had this weird feeling that I much easier pulled mobs than others, had the same feeling in BRD back when I farmed that. Since our group consisted of me a gnome as well as one or more from each of the other races we decided to do some testing regarding this. All of us apart from a hunter walked into a corner as far in as we could and then the hunter pulled Captain Kromcrush so he walked past us, none but me got in combat. We tried this 4 times with the same result, then everyone but me walked a tiny bit away from the wall so it visually was very clear that all of them were further away from the wall and thus closer to the mob than me. The hunter tried once more and I still got in combat while no one else did. Since DM is so buggy we decided to try this outside the instance with a similar setup and the same result occurred.

We had no buffs applied, no hots, not a single thing that would cause threat still I as a gnome appears to have a larger aggro range than other races which seem very strange and unintended.

Tell that to the gnomes exploiting all the guards in the different neutral towns.

It’s not a smart solution considering the queue wait time, but maybe a relog would help with an issue like that.

Aha I know your issue. You’re level 11 so the aggro radius of dire maul and brd mobs is going to be massive

@Tabs, not sure how that’s relevant, but sure I’ll tell them.

@Benix, nah wasn’t just my group that had issues with DM, loads of people had similar issues. Seems like it was closely tied to how large the online population was since as soon as peak time was over and the servers got less stressed most bugs disappeared, however the aggro range on gnomes did not.

@Harrand, funny I give you that, but yeah obviously it was on another character.

So yeah stressed servers, crashing layers and instance bugs aside, it seems that gnomes have the largest aggro range of all races on alliance side according to what we found while testing. Sure we were a consistent group of the same lvl 60 classes and talent specs which might play a role somehow, but I still find it strange that me a gnome mage have a larger aggro range than a human prot warrior.

Sounds like you have the same gnome aggro range as in PvP =)

You don’t get put to queue again if you just relog, so its safe.

Its not about gnome. DM north has retarded agro ranges, no matter you class or race. And dogs there sometimes seems to have wider agro range against steathed player than nonstealthed.

True Nuckchorris, but we also tried this outside DM north and saw the same thing happen, while all standing in a corner the hunter dragged a mob past us and none but me the gnome got in combat.
