Gold per hour Dungeons vs Quests?

I’m level 38 with still only 60g despite selling loads on the AH and not buying more than half my skills so I really need to optimise my income for the next two levels.

Am I likely to get more gold from questing or grinding SM arm/cath? The silver drops from cath are nice but I can’t say I get much good vendor trash and I’m sharing the greens with 4 other players.

Questing can be a bit unpredictable when it comes to income though.

Not sure which will serve me better?

I’m not sure about quests specifically but mob grinding is actually effective.

Dungeons are supposed to be pretty good for money but not as good as grinding.

Again, not sure about quests

Edit: Your gold amount isnt bad btw

You don’t think so? It leaves me needing to find 30g in two levels. That’s not an easy ask.

I’m not yet setup for AoE grinding, was planning to try that after I get ice barrier and a mount at 40 given both make the process infinitely safer.

Maybe I should persist with SM for a while at least and hope for decent gold.

If you really want the mount as you hit 40, you should start taking your time then. It’s not actually the norm to be able to afford it straight away.

Things like fishing are big money makers right now since it’s not effective for levelling

Even if you don’t get it at 40 you’ll probably get it at 41/42

I’ve noticed players leveling too fast in SM runs “outlevel” their gold intake.

You are on the curve or above it. Every level you gain will ramp your gold income. On early 40-levels you will start getting greens and grey weapons vendoring for above 1g. Plus more from rewards and more from mobs.

Questing, even getting mount at 41 or 42 but just questing. If you want optimal income farm good vendorable things like basilisks on shimmering flats, next to path to Gadgetzan. They can drop up to 10-11s of greys per mob plus bonus of skinning and they can also drop greens, and if it’s a weapon - big bonus. You farm until bags are full and go to Gadgetzan to vendor.

I had like 68g when I hit 40 but I had bank alt full of bars and some leather. By the time I got 40 some AH market actually developed and managed to sell all of my bronze and tin plus a bit of leather. By the end of the day and one shimmering flats run I had the mount.

Play aoe spec, you only need to learn blizzard and cone of cold, no need to learn other spells. farm humanised mobs

Sell conjured water and food in different low level areas cheaper than vendor by 50%.

Drop all the professions, even first aid and just sell anything you get.
