Why not just enjoy your time and report those you see instead of dedicating and wasting your time? Nothing will change sadly.
Cause I believe that to not be true! I do report those I see when I just play too, but using 5 mins a day to report a bunch does a huge difference.

Hey there, one of the TRP devs here. I found out about this post after looking up why we got those questions about parental controls and trial accounts, so Iâll quickly chime in, mostly to repeat what I said in response to the questions.
Right now from the addon, we canât check all of the parental controls settings, we can only see if the shop or voice chat has been disabled. We have the mature filter as a potential barrier from profiles with improper content, but it was established as an opt-in as the first implementation of the filter was flawed, and was never switched afterwards.
We donât really want to shut down the addon for all trial players just because a portion of them are bad apples, and we donât have a way to do so properly anyway. Whatever we would do to lock them from using the addon could easily be bypassed as you cannot check if another player is on a trial account.
We know that they are taking action based on reports for harassment (assuming theyâre done through the appropriate support page that we link when you click on our report button, and not just through a simple in-game ticket). Unfortunately, weâve seen instances where a GM would say erotic content in addons is fine as long as itâs not targeted or pedophilia, and we havenât been able to get a straight official answer one way or the otherâŚ

When are you adding the feature to play loud, ear breaking music while our profile flashes different colours to cause epileptic fits just like old websites from 2000âs?
They did make TRP turn some weird colours like a year or so ago, aprils fools or something like that. Could turn it off in settings.
Let me summarize the suggestions put forth so far:
- Report ALL of the ERP, including TRP profiles with any sexual content: no effect on people making trial alts anyway (as demonstrated above); possible effect on regular RPers who might have different standards of what counts as âeroticâ from people who like to report TRPs en-masse
- Publicly display and shame anyone even suggested of even just being okay with ERP: absolutely no effect on the main issue of this thread; very possible negative effect on a decently large portion of the RP community; also, lots of threads like this
- Station GMs in Goldshire/possibly on every corner, jackboots optional: not really feasible; plus, if you put one just in Goldshire, people would find some other place anyway
- Parental controls, make it the parentâs responsibility to monitor what content their children are exposed to; disable chat for them (which would also disable TRP) if there is fear of⌠whatever the parent is afraid of: this would work, sure; kind of a boring way to play on an RP server though. Parental controls generally depend on how much knowledge the parent has and how much time theyâre willing to invest in the whole thing anyway, so in a lot of cases theyâre not too reliable; as demonstrated, even many people in this very thread didnât even know parental controls were a thing, so imagine how much someoneâs non-gamer mom knows
- Make the game/RP servers 18+: Again, this would work, but it would make a lot of people (Blizzard executives included) not very happy
Personally I think the last option would actually make sense: have a mature content warning on RP servers, with parental controls enabling parents to lock their children out of these, if they really want to. ERP aside, this would allow players to explore various forms of RP content that may not be exactly appropriate to a 12 year old, whether that be violence, religion or something erotic. Rules would still be in place to prevent any kind of âdisruptiveâ behavior (same as they are now), so people emoting weird stuff at each other in the middle of Stormwind would still be a no-go.
Realistically speaking, I see the issue this thread raises; even putting aside the âthink of the children!â hysteria, a lot of people donât come to an RP realm for that kind of RP. But at the same time, there is not a lot you can do about it (short of squadrons of jackbooted GMs patrolling the streets around the clock, which I frankly would rather not happen): there is clearly a need in some portion of the community for this kind of RP, so itâd be more constructive for us to think about how we can make it non-disruptive, rather than trying to squash it by forceâŚ

Thereâs no need for this âtype of rpâ anywhere in the game, if a couple of sweaty dudes want to jerk off to the thought of their lesbian characters having sex they can go to one of many seedy forums dedicated to this stuff or take it to private communication on a third party app. There is no need for people to be content with this filth being pushed by predatory perverts on random players just trying to play the game.
Get your rocks off elsewhere, I would like to be able to actually use the areas like Goldshire for roleplay for a change.
This kind of thing is a blight on our server and community, to sit there and try to defend it on the forum is truly a low point in anyoneâs career.
Update: I can at least confirm Blizzard are doing something with the reports, as I found out when I came home to find my account mistakenly banned for 3 days following a ticket I sent for an inappropriate TRP profile; luckily they were good about it and fixed it quickly.
