Good old quest drop rates :)

Damn the memories are coming back now that I started my warrior in Elwyin forest.
The mobs like in the past almost always destroy their quest items to spite us.
I am looking forward to the mobs that miss their body parts. (yes I know that in the end we need to kill those extra mobs for the XP anyway)
.
I remember an urban myth circulating back in the old days that the drop rate for murloc eyes was higher if you punched the murloc to death instead of damaging its eyes with weapons

Getting the insignia from Skull cave took forever. Then found out that when it did drop, it was only for one person in the group, not both of us. Doh.

It is still worth grouping to tag more things though

Yeah, the warlocks with their big blue blobs are tough as nails.

Attempting to pick herbs and failing too 5 times in a row.

There is a good ol’ comic for that

The one that REALLY got me…granted I’ve been surprisingly lucky with most of my quest drops…but that damnable Lieutenant’s Insignia for the Hidden Enemies quest in Skull Rock…nearly grinded from 2/3’rds into lvl11 to about 1/3rd into lvl12 just trying to get that thing to drop for me…after 9-10hrs of playtime and 6hrs in queue…I about ready to give up…I miss these feelings of excitement and joy from working SO hard for something and nearly giving up, then you get it.

Old and gold.

Could you imagine how aware you would be of the need to hard grind exp if the items dropped faster, in that regard its balanced really well.

It took me many years after I first started playing in the TBC prepatch (before the cap was raised to 70) to realize that the bad drop rates are saving some mindless grinding.

I failed at my first 3 attempt at skinning and thought what the heck is this!!

The gold dust quest took forever but the 6 red bandana quest was brutal. At least the kobolds spawned fairly quickly.
