Two bars away from 79 I came to the realization that I dont like wrath. My raiding days are over, and I dont give a toss about PvP. But Im missing “vanilla” and the arthritic mess that is vanilla dungeon tanking, which I absolutely love. Ubrs, scholo, strath, dm. Maybe some aq20. Are ppl still leveling alts and doing dungeons in Classic? Or are you somehow past that? Any server recommendations?
If you like PvP choose the Firemaw cluster. If PvE then it does not matter as they are connected. This is speaking of the English realms only:
Classic Era EU English servers are combined into 5 clusters. Here ranked from most to least populated:
1 - PvP servers cluster: Ashbringer, Bloodfang, Dragonfang, Earthshaker, Gandling, Golemagg, Mograine, Noggenfogger, Skullflame, and Firemaw - inhabited
2 - all 3 PvE servers - inhabited
3 - PvP cluster: with Dreadmist, Flamelash, Judgement, Razorgore, Shazzrah, Stonespine, Ten Storms, and Gehennas - quite empty
4 - RP-PvE Hydraxian Waterlords - quite empty (but the HC community is playing here)
5 - RP-PvP Zandalari Tribe - Dead (maybe reviving)
Funny you post this in Classic (lvl 60) forums and not the WotLK forums.
But yes, Era is alive - welcome home
He asks for Classic Era recommendations, It sure belongs here.
Yes there are people playing alts there are a lot of dungeons from brd up to ubrs going on all the time, however for the lower dungeons you might need to wait for a group and it’s a bit of a struggle sometimes for things like rfd, gnomeregan or uldaman, but they still happen now and then when people put in the time to get a group together.
Ironically, this is where the RDF tool would really help!! (No, I am in NO way gonna suggest adding it to Classic. No way )
who asked?
Was this question somehow aimed at me?
Just don’t touch the PVP ranking it’s officially PAY2WIN the jobless monkey with the most accounts wins.
Right! Thank you for all your replies!
The definition of salt.
Firemaw PvP is where I play at - You can find a recent post named WoW Classic Era Update October 2022 with infos regarding the server.
Hope you find a home mate!
ill probably end up unsubbing after just 1 month too, did everything i wanted in retail and im not into time gated daily routines.
i would’ve sticked longer in Wrath if it had RDF since that was the main thing i enjoyed doing back in wrath, also i just gave the group finder tool a try, it just doesnt work. been in queue for a hour now without an invite. and in retail i just get rejected all day long for mythic+ runs.
edit: it looks like wrath classic is already dead too btw, i can count the people who i saw questing in teldrassil on 1 hand
Have you tried whispering people to invite you? There is even a button to ask somebody to invite you to a group.
Firstly: Layering. Secondly: Why would a lot of people be questing in Teldrassil right now?
whisper who, theres 2 other people listed for the same dungeon and they are all dps.
as for why people would be questing in teldrassil… new characters? i sure counted a lot more in retail and it makes even less sense to see people there
Thanks. I was looking for this info casually, which server to roll on. Kind of weird that my WLK and Era server could be the same.
Also a good question, might as well try and stickify it.
One more thing, what’s the typical group finding method? Chat / Bulletin, or did they add the group finder? Guess I’ll find out, though.
I don’t think it’s a relevant metric.
At this specific moment it makes the least sense to start new characters. At 80 there is pressure to get geared, while those preferring less populated zones can also start leveling 70+ by now. Especially with having had Joyous Journeys, most everyone should have been prepared.
(I do see low level people during my lowbie sessions, just not many.)
As for dungeons, I think we all expressed we would love RDF - you can unsub to add weight. But for now, the best things to do are forming your groups and befriending a few people to run with, who will organise those groups. As for low level stuff, I would fire and forget. If at any point there are enough players, the last one coming will pick some people. Likely there are many damage dealers, though. Otherwise, since leveling as tank or healer is better but still not great, I generally don’t expect things to happen. Get a boost (friend) or stomp it yourself at some higher level, if you desire the quests.
Basically, if you want dungeons these days, roll a tank class and be on the lookout. Even better if you have plenty of gold and don’t mind spec flipping: paladin and druid can play all roles. 50g per run is silly but it’s in the name of fun.
Most people I know quit somewhere around level 75, I guess the questing was too much for them. Those who hit 80 mostly did a few days of HCs, a Naxx run or two and then haven’t logged in since week 2 of Wrath. Haven’t heard from those who are playing arenas, but that scene sounds pretty quiet too.
Another idea would be to go and pick a SoM server. the +100% XP buff is still active and the transfer to ERA is imminent
And can you make it to level 40 before transferring, then the level 40 mount is half price compared to Classic Era.
thats clever. i hadnt thought of that
also, SoM is easier to level up fishing/cooking/alchemy due to the extra drops. other professions as well i guess as there is 0 competition
