Got bored?

Week passed. I’ve reached 80 within 4 hours lol. And here the game starts to be boring…
Spam heroics to gear up - done. What next?
(heroics  since game release tank just pull half of the dungeon and can handle them. So it is 5-10 minutes to finish one. It’s so HEROIC)
The only thing I can do is wait for campaign to move forward. The only thing what really impresses me and want to play.
The game has no new ideas. We are playing still the same game over and over again. Farm renowns? Is it even worth? Dragonflight took months for me to struggle with those renowns and did not feel properly rewarded at all.

Don’t get me wrong but there is no new interesting feature which players would love to spend time on. Remember Legion? The first time on prepatch when burning legion attacked random spots through the world? The first time we saw world quests? Bruh, I’ve spend thousands of hours on those. Since then (and especially since DF) we have nothing new. It feels more like a DF patch, not new expansion.

I KNOW, I KNOW, it’s been only a week, let’s wait. But we can wait for seasons to come, raids to be open, mythics to access, but not new game, new features. We can already know how the game looks like and will remain this way.
Thank god there are few classes that received some new/changed machanics so you can have fun testing for some time.

Dont worry soon you will have people saying new seasons is underway so you can jump into M+ and spam dungeons you alredy killed in heroic severail times over again and again and again so you can get gear what you dont really need becouse entire purpose of gear is to get stronger so you can increase difficulty just to get stronger so you can increase difficulty even more till you gear progress reset in new patch and you can do it all over again in patch.

M+ are the only thing which really keeps me here for a long time. It is interesting gameplay, rotation and difficulties make it really demanding. Same as raid (when all be released). So I’m not talking about specific feature but overal game state. What has changed? Nothing. Just look how many people are in Dornogal city jumping around for no reason. More than ever before.

I am finding myself in a very similar situation. I am very active in the PvE scene and find m+ to be the majority of my content fix and though I don’t mind a break, I find myself without a grind to replace it.

I kinda liked that during Dragonflight I could endlessly rep grind to achieve my reputation goals early so when the new season started i could focus 100% on that. I feel myself without that this season and I’ve hit all my caps and I’m kinda like… “Welp… another week and a half before I can do anything I guess.”

Give me my dirt grind to fuel my ADHD brain dangit!! I want my red and gold hallowfall kitty mount!

Just go & do what I’m doing at the moment.

  1. Finishing off any remaining professions to get them to 100 (of if you need to get fishing up to 300).
  2. Farming materials for your profession
  3. Farming wax for material boxes/pets
  4. Grinding mounts (bee, Siesbarg & Alunira)
  5. Completing treasures
  6. Random zone achievements
  7. Weekly rare reptuation & WQs
  8. Leveling Brann up to the current level 15 cap

And I’m sure there are other minor things to do, while waiting for the 10th of September to arrive.

So like… what happens when you’ve done all of that?..

I guess I don’t have to worry about the materials cause my guild provides that for me… but Like… Yeah, I’ve kinda finished everything I care about. And I don’t think “I guess I can farm this bug mount because I have nothing else to do even though i really dont want it.” Is a good way to approach the game.

The problem is that so much content that much of the community is either timegated or just straight up not available for 3 and a half-4 weeks into the new release.

Again, as someone utterly addicted to mythic plus, I don’t mind a break. But I really wish my rep wasn’t timegated and there was a way to endlessly farm like in Dragonflight, when it is basically just for cosmetics.

Welcome to World of Warcraft? The same applies for every expansion. It is an iterative game, not a revolutionary one - is this genuinely a surprise?

Congratulations on racing to 80. There is plenty of stuff to do, but clearly not all of it is to your liking.

And most of what u just said can be done in less than 24 hours :stuck_out_tongue:

You don’t have to every day play the same game.

I have like 2-4 games i play on the daily depending on the day

Even with me doing every single quest in each zone, watching cutscenes and randomly farming herbs along the way, I was max level on the 2nd day of EA. The leveling process is unfortunately far too quick, in my personal opinion.

Very true. I know I’ve been rewatching a lot of tv shows, that I never got to finish. I’m a stay at home dad, so I also take care of my disabled child. So for me WoW is really the only game I play, as she likes to sit on my lap and watch, when I have those quiet periods

I did mention how there was at least something i could properly grind for a few weeks and was satisfying… in dragonflight. Which was the last expansion.

That’s the point of PvE play now. You await Wednesday to go on raid, do mythics and… watch some XX awaiting next Wednesday lol.

I totally do not enjoy new prof system since DF. (but its only me).
Farming mounts? Are mounts even something special now? You get mounts totally everywhere. I’ve just bought like 2 mounts from trading post. It’s not the time where you spend days and weeks to complete all glory achievements.
Achievements? Well, After 17 years of playing wow I see completely nothing fascinating in doing backflip in water to get some cool achievement.
(as I said, it’s only me).

100%. Alchemy is horrible in this expansion. I’m doing my 24-hour cooldown and then wait for the following day, as the repeatable experiment is a waste of materials as you blow up 90% of the day xD

Bruh. Isn’t like… that the approach you DON’T want to have as a MMO video game company or the players in it? Don’t you want people playing your game? Don’t we want people to have a want to play the MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER online game we all love? Especially in the first few weeks of a new expansion?!

The main reason I still play the game is because I play it with friends (and potential friends I have yet to meet). Without that, I’d probably not play. The game is very formulaic, very repetitive, and it eats up a lot of time and headspace. As a video game, I don’t think it’s really a good product.

I think WoW sometimes also becomes a habit for me, usually a bad habit, where it turns into a low-effort requiring, comfort food-like default activity. No doubt there are traces of addiction, too, and that is why I had deleted my previous account and started over. I don’t know if it was the best decision, either of these.

I normally have a period, where I stop playing the current game and move onto another game I play for several months, before going back. So I’ll end up playing WoW for like 2 seasons, skip the 3rd season and play GTARP for a season and return as Season 4 is about to begin xD

But I guess we’ll see how this expansion does.

If they wanted that, they would not lock M0 & M+ for so long.

Blizzard is very backwards in how they do things.

I guess I see the same people telling people “Go play another game Lol” in response to many straight up running out of things to do will likely be the same people who will be complaining in a few months that WoW is dead because all their friends left. Maybe that is a hot take, iunno it’s just a bit crazy to me to have a response to a new game releasing is to “Go play another game” and that feel normal and healthy for the state of the game.

I roleplay, I do high end PvE content which requires a lot of grinding, I do professions, I hunt mounts and I hunt mogs. I feel like I do quite a lot in this game and I am still finding myself running out of content and enjoyment and I am not the only one. It’s very nice some don’t find themselves having that issue but to disregard the people who are is a bit silly.

Edit:
This isn’t my first new expansion launch. I loved Dragonflight, I didn’t feel deprived of things to do like I do now. I even took things slower and still find myself weeks without things to do.

and me, None of the things Canju listed sounds any thing worth my time.

Why do you interpreted what i said like that?

I said i play 2-4 different games per day, War within is one of them, Currently i am going through the campaign since i pretty much LFG’d my way to 80.

I also play some Overwatch 2, Blade & soul daily and raid logging in cata/SoD on those specific days.

I did play Diablo 4 season 5 a lot, but that’s pretty done for me now.

You can space out your time and play many different things in a day or in a week, there’s never any need to keep 100% one game, Unless that’s what you feel like ofc, But most don’t when it’s all pretty pointless outside of M+ or raiding.

Maybe touch grass if you’re out of things to do not even a week into the expansion? Personally i got to level 80 yesterday, now i’m just further exploring the new zones, doing most of the side quests while getting some better gear and leveling my professions. I go in blind, i don’t look up anything about the expansion, i like to find things on my own instead of having 7 youtube videos and wowhead tabs open on how to get everything FAST FAST FAST and 56 tips before you start TWW, just no, this ruins the experience.
