I must say I could not be more unhappy!
I was an uninformed client trying to get my wow sub back when i notice i had 15£ of blizzard balanced.
Subscriptions in this game cost 52£ for 6 months so i guess i just add like around 40£ and i get 6 months sub right?!
Well it’s not informed anywhere or even explained the fact that if you do that you only allow to get game time!!! AND GAME TIME IS 19£ for 2 MONTH!!! I cannot get my money back after this mistake and only option left for me was to get game time, a cannot get mount for sub for 6 months, I am paying more and getting less for my money.
I don’t understand why me as client is not informed that if im gonna use your blizzard balance I am not allowed to buy subscriptions!
And NO I am not forced to guess about your wow token system before i buy something It would be the same as steam making a game more expensive with steam credits because in that game people earn point to gift to others for free.
Please someone tell me that this actually makes no sense!!!
Quoting one guy I spoke with today in a separate topic, you are just poor and jealous and can’t afford a 6 month sub and this is a proper business practice. It is pretty obvious why this is done - so you can’t just drop the game after a month. If you just want to check out the patch, that’s minimum 2 months or resub.
Limitations
Battle.net Balance cannot be…
- converted into cash
- transferred to another account
- combined with another payment method to make a purchase
- used for World of Warcraft subscriptions (but can be used for Game Time)
- used in:
- Blizzard Gear Store
- PlayStation Store
- Xbox Marketplace
- Nintendo Store
You can use the balance towards just the mount which is £19 on its own without game time/sub so you would only pay £4 cash
The reason you can’t use balance for a recurring sub is because they can’t guarantee that there will be any/enough balance available for the next payment unlike with a credit/debit card.
Eh?
You can not have money on your card as well, you know.
But that is much less likely isn’t it?
Your credit card or bank balance is more likely to be refreshed on a monthly basis as you get paid from work and pay your credit card minimum payments so the the money you have to spend on it for subscriptions is more likely to be available than blizzard balance which relies on either gift cards or gold making.
Who even puts their pay on the account that’s tied to your card?
If I want to make any purchases, I often have to transfer money from one account to the one with my card attached to it.
Oh wow I am so glad I could find that in their convoluted website.
Hidden behind 10000 options where it won’t be useful to anybody. To be honest i cant possibly imagine a moment where that page comes handy.
Are you guys serious? Do i need a masters degree in blizzard page navigation(yes that page is just that bad) and another degree in terms of services of blizzard before buy anything form this company?
Because maybe I am crazy, if there is a limitation that needs to be mention should be displayed before you buy for you to know exactly what you getting?!
I dont know a single person who doesnt do this.
From my perspective youre the odd one here
I just clicked support and typed battle.net balance into the search box, it was the first hit.
It is as Afenton states… any company that operates a subscription service will only offer that service with a financial institution like credit/debit card, direct debit or payment gateways like Paypal. Battle.net balance is like store credit or a gift card… those can never be used for such I am afraid.
But anyone malicious that comes across your details would be able to use all the money you have on there. Why would you expose yourself to a risk like that?
I only keep money that I can afford to lose on it.
Exactly. I remember when I joined the WoW community. But my problem was not the amount of money spent, that is totally fine btw…
My worries were set on the auto-resubcription, so I contacted Blizzard to change my payment method after the 6th month to monthly instead of 6 months alltogether.
Paying ca. 16€ (or whatever the 1 Month price is) is cheaper than a one time payment of 60€
My pay goes into my bank account it automatically has a debit card attached to it like most modern bank accounts do and for my wow sub I use paypal.
If I had a credit card the minimum payment would still have to be paid every month or I would have bailiffs knocking on my door.
The point is, blizzard balance isn’t a guaranteed source of funding for a recurring sub but a debit or credit card (or paypal) is.
You have to physically go out of your way to either grind gold to convert balance, add gift card to balance or purchase balance in the blizzard shop and that is why you can’t set up a recurring sub with blizzard balance.
No, like I said; These can not have money on them. My card only has enough money on it for purchases I’m about to make that day they are transferred there.
And I told you that is more unlikely than blizzard balance not having money on it
I guess the best way to explain is you want fruits you go to fruit store and guy in store say
- ‘‘hey buy my fruits can use real money or dodge coin’’
and you will be like
-‘‘i guess i buy in dodge coin’’
guy in store
‘‘so what you want young man?’’
you
‘’ i want oranges’’
guy in store
‘’ sorry cant buy oranges’’
you
-‘’ but you said…‘’
guy in store
‘’ Yeah but no oranges’’
Now let’s see what you think when i ask this…
does dogde coin makes any sense to you now?
You’re the one saying it’s a guaranteed source of funding, I point out it’s not.
Just because you don’t keep money on your debit card doesn’t mean the rest of the world doesn’t and if you can explain how a credit card can not have money on it be my guest.
However, I feel you are just being pedantic for the sake of being pedantic.
Fact: debit and credit cards are more guaranteed funding for recurring subscriptions that blizzard balance whether you like it or not. Now have a wonderful day not using your debit card because it has no money on it because your pay goes into an account that isn’t linked to a card…
I don’t know anyone that keeps money beyond what they need on their card.
And the only people I know who has a credit card are people who have gotten themselves into debt because of it, lol. Like 7% transactions are with credit card where I live, 80% are with a debit card.
Virtual cards because some people in this world have common sense to realize that this predatory recurring sub meta is too much, with virtual cards you generate one pay to get what you want and cancel the card as soon as you get tired of it.
