Would group finder like in retail wow be a bad thing in classic? Not saying it should completely be the same as in retail I.E. all the classic version would do is cross realm you with other players looking for a similar dungeon. You would have to make you own way there etc so no teleportation. It’s sometimes difficult to find players at your level and ideal spec etc. This for me would make leveling ALTs a better experience as sometimes I like to mix up leveling questing with a dungeon or two. Just wondering how others feel about this and have blizzard ever mentioned anything about it
Yes. /thread
jesus H christ… delete this thread.
I mean, people have been using the LFG addon since the Classic launch, nothing has burned down and there hasn’t been a single flying mount, heirloom or barbershop in sight so surely it can’t be that bad an idea.
(/s for the humour impaired)
The worst.
Yes, socializing is one of the challenges of a real MMO. Being on other players’ friendlist to get group invites needs more effort than pushing an ‘enter dungeon’ button.
Classic is not about pulling up multiple ALTs or cutting corners when leveling. There’s nothing wrong about playing with ALTs in classic, but the efficiency of leveling ALTs was not and should not be a priority for classic development.
Dungeon finder played big part in turning retail into a boring solo game and introducing it to classic would push players back to private servers.
The part I cant wrap my head around is this you asked: “crossrealm”
WTH? So you want retail, go retail.
With cross realm bgs being in the game and server balances going down the drain it wouldn’t have any negative effects at this point.
No, it’d have longterm consequences on the social awareness.
BGs are bad enough, don’t need it to spread to instances. One of the worst things Blizzard can do is turn the people you’re supposed to socialize with, superfluous.
Yes please
Do it
Do it
Having cross realm bgs at all and their assumptions with layered realms that clearly was not something they had considered a core element to the classic experience. I’d rather have neither but when they already have bgs being cross realm, which is a far more social thing than a dungeon as both your opponents and teammates are supposed to be people and not something that could be substituted for bots and you would not know the difference, adding cross realm dungeons would not make any difference for me.
This would be helpful for dead realms and faction imbalanced .
Already done this for BGs and made the cross language aswell which was not in vanilla either so # nochanges is a mockery already .
Hard to socialise when nobody to do it with and no rerolling or buying a move isnt an option for some.
you already got your paid server transfer. cut your losses and consider yourself lucky.
Not surprising a horde would say that on a very imbalanced realm which has a sizeable population and easy to find groups .
When you grow up you will understand for some money is not easy to come by, so telling people to do that is a silly and flippant none answer .
Try learning to be empathetic towards others people might like you .
Btw I checked few weeks ago out of curiosity and in the span of several days not a single person has used the LFG addon to form a group. All the groups listed in the addon were chat detections, not a single group originating from the addon itself.
Let me ask if I undetstand you correctly. You prefer no cross realm but because BGs are cross realm and the opponents in them are humans, that is why you now want cross realm dungeons?
Something does not add up. To me it looks like you always preferred cross-realm and just try somehow (no matter if there is no logical link) to present your preferences logically justfied from design perspective.
In case you didn’t know, there is LFG chat channel, /4 will get you any group you want. I realize that it might be too much effort, as you’ll have to talk to people (yikes, I know, right?).
We kicked a guy from the guild that left the raid 3 sec after rag was down.
Retail mentality aint welcome.
g o t o r e tail
I’m sure blizzard thought it’s great idea to develop LFG function in WoW, but in fact it was the main thing that killed the WoW community. If you need to communicate with people to get a group, your are interested to be a friendly and nice player, because then you’ll be invited again. “Would you like to join BRD run as healer?” - it is the part of classic experience and it is great. And vice-versa, if you are an a**hole, you’ll get into people’s blacklist and it’ll be harder for you to join a group.
In retail it works completely different. You think group is too slow? You leave and find another one in 3 min. You don’t like player for even minor fault? You kick him and get another one in 3 min. It is no problem any more. You can be a completely toxic imbecile, nobody will remember you because of cross-realm. You don’t care about people, they are just battle units for each other, they don’t bother to explain their strategy or something they know, they dont’ bother to help each other, they don’t say even “hi” or “bye”, because they are too lazy to do it. The game motivates you to be a selfish elitist, not a nice friendly player. And it totally ruins the true MMO experience.
That’s why you will get a full bucket of sh** on top of your head every time you say about LFG in classic on this forum
Just look how toxic people are in BGs.
Why?
Because they can be.
With cross-realm instancing you won’t see the same group again, so your actions and words have no consequences. You can be the no1 as…hole of your realm or you can be the nicest person it doesn’t matter, because teams are build randomly instead of based on personal reputation.
This leads to many issues:
-
if players’ behavior doesn’t matter, people won’t wait for others to reach the instance, if it takes too long they kick them out or disband, so teleporting needed
-
if players’ behavior doesn’t matter, people will ninjaloot so personalized rolls needed
-
if players’ behavior doesn’t matter, people want to be carried, will sign up at too low level or undeargeared, so itemlevel filtering needed
You see where I’m heading at: lot of thing that are wrong on retail are a logical consequences of the dungeon finder.
