I rolled an undead mage at launch, and by the time I was mid-twenties, all the quests I thought were available were done and I had to grind, so I quit.
I was using Questie addon at the time and while good, it didn’t show where to go at each zone. I also bought Joannas guide previously, but didn’t follow it to the T, and so it messed up the leveling process for me, as I was constantly tabbing out, to see where to go.
However, I found this new plugin called Guidelime, that holds your hand through the whole leveling process, with an optimised leveling path. You just add Guidelime to your addons directory and choose a specific leveling addon to add with it too. I am using Sage’s Guide.
I’ve gotten to level 20 already on an alliance paladin.
Finding it really good. If you are like me, who hates the leveling process, but just wants to do battlegrounds endgame, then perhaps this addon is for you too.
Don’t want to blatantly advertise an addon, but I found it so worthwhile, I thought someone else reading the forums might also find it useful.
Guidelime is a life saver, such a useful addon when you’re miles behind everyone else and just want to get to 60 ASAP so you can play with your guildies.
I did the vanilla thing back in it’s day. Leveled my toons by googling the quest, looking up the map – it was painstakingly long and tedious.
This addon is great in my opinion and I don’t see how using this addon is honourless. Someone went to the trouble of creating an optimised leveling path to get to 60, and creating the add-on too.
A lot of people just want to get to 60, having already leveled toons previously. I don’t really see a problem with using it nor do I have a problem with others using it.
I’m merely just putting it out there, that it’s a good find and I personally have found it useful, and probably would not be playing without it.
I find the whole leveling process quite boring and tedious. I probably will quit before I even get to 60. I only made 2 levels yesterday and that was using the addon and I’m in my low twenties.
The problem nowadays is that this generations doesn’t like to be called what they are. Even if they had a servant to hold their wee while they pee, they would still not accept being called lazy.
i got to agree with you on that one tho. But in this case it’s just about having fun, and if this is the way people want to level up, who are you or me to tell them otherwise.
Reminds me of a famous Irish series called Father Ted where Mrs. Doyle, who is famous for her cups of tea, is told to use a tea maker instead, with the comment “Takes the misery out of making a cup of tea”. To which her response is “Well, maybe I like the misery”.
Just goes to demonstrate, some people are open to change and other people like the ‘old way’ which may include the misery and drudgery. Isn’t there room for both in World of Warcraft?
After playing with the addon for 23 levels, it’s not perfect, but it works. I have a few issues with it and you have to work with the addon too while leveling up.
Like I said, I like clever, new innovations that make life easier for us. That doesn’t make me stupid or lazy for using them. I’m sure most people are using some kind of addon that provides raid or pvp utility or whatever. Are they stupid and lazy too?
Classic seems to be emerging as something quite different in our modern age, than what vanilla was. There are some clever addons that people seem to be unhappy about, yet using the same API that was exposed for the game as back then.
Perhaps, people are just thinking differently than back in vanilla.
