Even the event of a successful GDPR suit, the end user rarely sees the compensation. The company just pays the fine and life goes on.
The fact this thread hasnāt been closed by now is worse than if theyād closed it, as it shows they arenāt even reading it anymore, they are just going to let this echo chamber burn itself out.
Liked as a form of demonstating agreement. Weāre now at the same faces posting stage of this fizzling out. Sadly.
Its a joke? so it can happen again??? to all the people involved i suggest to DONāT STOP posting and sendind tickets until they solve THEIR mess. This is unacceptable, is as they want to look if this scalates to something or we shut it and they can carry on like nothing and save a lot of money without solving that.
Thing is we need to bring bigger attention to it. So far not many players know about this mess unless they were affected.
Blizzard is doing good job to sweep it under carpet like āpoo is poo, only when you start poking it with a stick it becomes a messā.
Ask questions on twitter, post during live events, hell even make MS involved as a parent company. Also some strong voice from twitch / popular people would be really appreciated.
As I understand it (I might be wrong, but I think someone said it earlier) many bigger streamers affected did get their items back, so they probably believe the problem is solved.
Kurnmogh has contacted the writer of the IGN article. Hopefully they do an update.
Weāll see. To me its still baffling the outrage tubers arenāt covering this.
Itās been a full 4 weeks now since the original bluepost was written and I havenāt had a single item restored. Nor have we had a single blue response to any questions or concerns.
As Iāve said before, I can understand an extreme case where data becomes unrecoverable after a data migration and backups get corrupted, but the severe lack of communication and possible compensation is unacceptable.
And also made an excellent post on the US forums:
This has also recently been posted on the US forums ā¦ Iām waiting to get clarification though. Itās difficult to assume the bug is back based on only one or two reports ā¦ and the previous similar report turned out that they just hadnāt checked their bank since the bug (that was the one reported here earlier from the 2nd October).
Ai wrote this, and blizzard donāt care for our replies, game is still happy to eat our money and items.
So further to that post
So it is possible either this bug wasnāt fully fixed, or another one has sneaked through. What some on the US forums have been doing is split stacks up so they can cover every section of their vault, to make it easier to notice if anything is missing, although I suppose screenshots would serve, too.
It would be nice if this issue received more attention.
Iām really curious about how many guild banks were actually affected, how many items were truly restored, and how many players just quit the game (after almost 20 years) because of this.
Itās so sadā¦
The thing is: I have a few guild banks, some of them very old. Some are on characters on other realms that I havenāt played in a long time (for years now). I have no logs for those guilds, and I donāt really know if I wasnāt affected. Some of my bank tabs are empty, and Iām pretty sure I would never leave them unused!
So, since thereās not enough information to truly trace thisāno logs for my banks or anythingāI choose to believe I lost something too. Thereās no evidence that it didnāt happen. Thereās no real information about any of itā¦
Prove me wrong, Blizzard!
Oh and BTW : i know we all suspect it, but ā¦ i asked āchatgptā how realistic it is that a restoration wouldnt be possible (as blizzards support seams to use something like it to create answers too) ā¦
this was created using chatgpt - but it is its own opinion (short form)
" Itās hard to believe that Blizzard truly cannot restore the data.
Blizzard has repeatedly proven in the past that they have detailed logs and backups to reverse data losses or restore player progress.
There are likely other reasons behind their response:
- Resource Management: Restoring lost items for all affected players could be very time-consuming and require a lot of effort, especially if many accounts were impacted.
- Backup Complexity: While Blizzard probably has backups, restoring specific guild bank data might be technically complex or expensive to implement on an individual level.
- Technical Issues: There may have been technical challenges, such as corrupted or incomplete backups, making it difficult to recover certain data.
- Public Relations Strategy: Blizzard might avoid admitting that recovery is possible to prevent setting expectations they canāt meet for all players. If they help one player, theyād have to help everyone.
This explains why Blizzard might claim they canāt restore the lost items, even if they technically could."
Soon ā¦sure -.- I keep getting empty mail messages saying item found in the twisting nether ā¦ with nothing attached ā¦ Iām our Guild leader and still waiting ā¦
Iāve been playing Cataclysm Classic for almost a year now. I wasnāt planning on playing the retail version. But after what happened, I need to go check ALL my Twinko Banks. Iāve been wasting a ton of time, even though itās become clear that any of my Banks could run out at any moment, judging by the posts on the US forums where things can disappear right before your eyes!
Iāve said it before, but I believe that is actually symptomatic of auto loot being buggy.
But, if it is auto-loot being buggy, there is no excuse for the failed to loot item not being present in said mail message - unless it is a currency in which case it would really help if it actually said it was a currency item - and of course it doesnāt.
More than 2 month have been going on now and no mails or anything -So still waiting on 8 tabs worth of 7-8 mill gold worth of pets/toys/boes/mats/bags etc I had this bank since 2011 now all gone, and all i get is chitty replies more or less from an A.iā¦ if ya cant recreated all the items, at least make some sort of matching compensations for the affected guild leaders.
I expected more from Blizzard tbh
Same here 8 tabs all emptyā¦
Just started playing TWW after being busy since its launch and im honestly pretty devasted by this. Iām a solo player who only used my guild as extra bank space/ block to other guild invites but i dont care about the mats ill probably never get around to using, i care about a tab i kept all text stuff like books and lore stuff but most importantly i had old letters from friends back in BC and wrath i had saved in that tab. Really sad to see these gone as some of those friends are not even around anymore RIP.
I am really tired of thisā¦ after this much wait i got no items restoredā¦ even game itself knows, that the items should be thereā¦ for example, if i type āāskāā as for sky golem, which i stored in the brutosaur tab of GB. It highlight itself, but the tab is empty. So even the game recognize the items, but blizz cannot restore them? Really dont understand thisā¦ (would post link to the screenshots, but it doesnt let me post anything)
Edit: /a/fQpg4zh is link to the screenshots, type imgur .com before it
