Guild Bank Missing Items Bug - Aug/Sept 2024

No, I’m not. It’s an issue that cannot and will not be resolved, so why would I?

First of all, as far as I’m aware, this has only affected guild banks, not personal banks. Any items I’d consider of personal value would be in my vault, with lesser important items put into alt-guild banks. Any items placed in the guild bank, like professional materials, should be easily replaceable or items you have no connection to. If you consider those worthy to make a fuss about, then that’s a problem you have.

And yes, I’m aware that personal banks can quickly get packed, especially after 16 years, but if I were you, I’d do some spring cleaning and either sell or destroy any items I don’t want or need every so often.

Second, I’m not arguing with you that you haven’t lost essential items that meant a lot to you; I’m arguing that attempting to continuously whine about said items when nothing is going to happen about them is pointless. That, and they don’t have any actual meaning.

You spent 16 years playing WOW.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, they messed up.

I’ve repeatedly tried to make the point that nothing is going to come from it, that your whining is pointless, and that you’re wasting my time.

So I’m going to do the best thing for both of us and block you because you’re delusional, and I deal with enough of those kinds of people at work.

I mean, I agree, but I don’t think it’d cost that much to do it.

I honestly wish they had explained in detail why they can’t do what you’re suggesting in their original post.

They can’t/don’t want to because then the people who actually know their stuff about databases and data integrity would tell them instantly: you’re lying. That is if they try to bamboozle us… coming clean would mean them admitting they don’t want to spend any resources on it.

Happy anniversary! 20 years of World of Warcraft. 2 months of empty guild banks.
Ignore me, sarcasm and cynicism is how I cope with life.

You’re assuming it cannot be resolved because that’s what a lying corporation has told us in the most dismissive and uncaring possible way. I don’t assume that, so that’s why I’m discussing the issue in a serious way.

In the first point you just tried to put the blame on how I managed my personal guild bank (btw, did you know trade twinks are a thing? because you almost blamed me for using guild bank for personal items, also) so I’ll leave it to that.
In the second point you believe that “whining” is useless, and you might actually be right on this, but you have to understand this is the second-to-last resort before actually giving blizz the finger and quit this company games for good.
I’m not ready to give up what I’ve done in so many years, I’m struggling not to. But if the feeling about this company is betrayal and they do literally nothing to try and make up to this, I understand that the only sane option is quitting.

And? Did you forget this game has been released in 2004 and some people have started playing in the same year, some later?
Gj making the worst possible point of all your post because that shows how much you’re biased and unaffected by this issue. Your opinion is clearly out of place here.

Dude, you replied to my post. You wasted your time just to try and blame me about it.
You did the best thing by blocking me, because this discussion is pointless. You literally sound like an agent paid by Blizzard to try and tone down this discussion, pumping up the unexistent number of posts in this thread that actually justify and excuse Blizzard’s behaviour.

Yep
i am waiting for those players coming back for winter season, 20th aniversary, or just other returning players finding their banks empty.
Or at least think … “i had more stuff in my bank, didnt i?” …

And most of them will say …
"i dont remember exactly what i had … blizzard would have told us if there would have been an issue or something… and they would have fixed it by now … so … must be right this way. "

i mean: did anyone of the affected players get an information about: “hey, there was a bad bug, some of your stuff got deleted - but we are working on it”?

im still not sure if my really old guild banks werent affected. There is no way to check this.

As i see it, only some players got some stuff back when they told blizzard that something is missing - right?

But they WILL care, when their m+ stuff gets whiped some day.

We just need to wait -.-

So it’s been a some time i don’t say anything here, but in my case 1 GB, on this char, the GB on my chars its vital so if i need something from other expansions i have it and not on thing here other there, but the thing, and in my case its that, Classic, BC, Lich, Cata and Draenor mats were all gone from 6 tabs, has i tated early, but the strange thing, and i hope it stays that way, none other GB of any other expansion or other “kinds” of materials and consumables were missing.

I can only say that to me its benn since 2009 i started playing… but its the memorys and some of them with people that are gone, and yes dead, so its for me a trust matter then everything else, i just “moved” everything from DF to a GB and now i don’t know because… Trust…

Many of us me and many other see the game has some way of letting everything outside, so I just “ask” something from Blizz directly if for work of miracle happens, talk to the playes directly and show the Blizzard of that made so many start playing over a decade at least…

To all that been respectable on this post lets go on and get some strenght, for those that were not respectfull, even if they were not in the intent of being, respect, maybe this is a game, but some day it can happen something “outside” and your attitudes made people leave your side and you will be alone.

Another week has passed. I still haven’t received a single letter with compensation for the wipe of my two guild banks. Happy anniversary! Blizzard has been working towards this success for 20 years…

Blizzard :arrow_right:you suck absolutly donkey balls.
Mother fraggin bastards.

The fact the no response and no other reply than a thin waffel for people who has been happy enough to pay for your “promised” safety of items in guildbanks.

How can we ever trust you again?

I have closed use of guild bank and promoting people to come here and dismiss your totally inapt response to this matter!

and look at this … just to rub salt in the wounds … they’re wanting people to fork out a huge wadge of money to buy an “Anniversary mount” …

That’s the type of thing they should have been sending to every affected guild leader …

Plot twist: maybe guild bank wipe was on purpose, targetting people that used it as a personal bank to promote using Warband bank.
Remove big chunk of gold from all those people, make them buy Warbank tabs instead of having free Guild Bank.

It was very random, I have 10 banks for alternative enchantments - all were unharmed. Usually I put there all sorts of small things that I don’t want to put in personal banks. But my daughter and I shared a bank where our friends from the Guild kept their stuff, and it was completely empty.

Slightly unrelated, but this really buts a layer of concern for any products people have bought digitally, things like Movies on Amazon Prime, Steam games etc, as they are just license tokens saved in a database in the same way as Blizzard saves what’s in people’s guild banks.

I’ve been lucky enough to never need to contact Steam support, but I wonder what they would do in this scenario with the many 100s of games in people’s accounts.

In a way its a bit sad to see people lose their mind over the store mount (to be fair be annoyed by that price, it is ridiculous)… but people losing their data… nah that’s fine.

I know for a certainty that some people I communicated with in the past… rather have me piss off so they don’t get reminded about this issue or don’t have to see me ‘whine’. Blizzard would still be the first in that line though.

Ah well, to me data loss has always been a severe issue. Maybe to some it doesn’t matter in a video-game… but I do wonder what will be next or where they draw the line. It will probably be too late already, as I see more and more companies with this attitude.

Be prepared for the world where we don’t own anything, its already bad enough that they load expensive products with advertisements and locked down softaware, turn off features that are already installed… buckle up because its going to get way way worse and most people won’t care until it properly hits them.

But why only the guild leader? How about guilds with hundreds of members?

I’ll be honest, if they gave me that mount for the 4 lost tabs, I’d consider it a proper apology and move on. It’s not like people affected by the Great Guild Bank Heist are going to pay Blizzard for it anyway, so they could probably salvage a few customers this way.

Indeed I mentioned this at other places as well, along with people losing: reputation, honor levels, gold. It’s unbelievable how bad Blizzard has handled these things.

And what are the people most annoyed about: a stupid store mount that costs too much and a boring Anniversary event. Meanwhile the people whom actually lost valuable things and time spend… that should be a warning to all: mostly ignored, not even mentioned when they complain about how they’re done with TWW.
