[H/N?] Rastakhan Memorial Service - Saturday 16th

(Notice: This small event has been launched to coincide with the second LFR wing in which Rastakhan is slain.)

News spreads quickly from the fresh battleground of Dazar’alor. As the Alliance retreat, it becomes known that amongst the dead is King Rastakhan, slain after a last show of defiance against the aggressors in his home.

A notice goes out, both to Horde lands and assuredly neutral territories.

'To all who might listen. Rastakhan, king, father and the slayer of the cruel prophet Zul has fallen defending his people from the Alliance attack on his city.

Though the Zandalari were once considered by many of us to be an enemy, the arrival at their shores showed us how the majority of them, loyal to their crown, are truly hospitable and kind people. In this difficult time for their people, we must show the virtue of forgiveness and let the Zandalari know that we support them as they mourn.

People of the Horde, regardless of your opinions of one another, let this be a time that we might come together, however briefly, to let the trolls know that we are there for them.

Those of neutral lands and creeds, if you wish to pay your respects to the slayer of Zul, saving potentially all lands and people from further invasions and dark rituals in Zandalari name, you too are invited. However, it is advised you seek approval from a branch of the Horde to attend without fear of persecution.

We will gather in the Garden of the Loa come week’s end at eight drums, and voice our support for a grieving people.’

This is a small event for Horde and neutral guilds to have a chance to come together and pay their respects to the best king of all, taken too soon.

Not to be a negative nay-sayer.

But as the events of the Siege all take part on one day (the same day), and most if not all RP’ers tend to consider the events of raids as effectively ‘current’ on the release of the final part of an LFR…

Isn’t this still a few weeks premature? What’s more, there are no actual Zandalari characters yet that could effectively attend.

That tells the story about how Alliance escapes.

Use Troll for that matter and put in TRP “Zandalari”. It’s in Zandalar, not in Ogrimmar

On the same day.

Err lads the funeral of rastakhan is also part of a quest chain after dealing with jaina

and yet you persisted.

There isn’t a single option that works perfectly. If you take it to wait until the final phase then you’re also perfectly happy with the Alliance occupying dazar’alor for six weeks in total which is silly. Officially this stuff should all be resolved in basically

as release, but RPers tend to not want that for a variety of reasons (that most of them don’t raid, for one).

This week is the first time everyone can see the Rastakhan cinematic. If ya don’t want to attend you could always not. Or just pretend it’s two weeks in the future while you’re at the event idk.

  1. This is a memorial to show support to the zandalari and not the funeral the player attends
  2. due to the convoluted nature of the raid, I felt it was just as appropriate to hold the event on this wing
  3. many people attended a campaign months ago which ‘reenacted’ the battle of dazar’alor and would like closure
  4. you don’t have to attend, I’m sure there’ll be more funeral events for such a large character!

This look’s cool. As a big player in the Zandalari community - we’re planning to host our own funeral for Rastakhan once we can play our boys.

Love this initiative. Will try to be there!

I feel this clashes with the Celestial Tournament, and that the raid should become canon come the last week of LFR.

It would be silly for half of AD to be in Pandaria while Rastakhan is cremated in Zandalar following a devastating siege.

A very nice initiative, though I must echo Kelduril’s concern about it clashing with the Celestial Tournament which takes place on the 15th and 16th. Perhaps moving it to the 17th would be more prudent to ensure everyone who wishes have better chances of attending?

I am fine with them clashing. They are likely to have very different character audiences anyway.

Will defo be showing up to this one, albeit not on Chieun.

What if there’s people who have different chars one of whom would love to attend the tournament and the other wished to show their respect to the fallen king? I’d say the event is best moved a bit forwards, if the organiser can afford it.

I still vote no, for me it’s perfect exactly where it is, but it is up to the organiser.

I’m keeping it where it is.

If it was a 3-day long vigil I’d be surprised about its timing too, but it’s just a small event.

Many of us have a schedule to keep and chances are other dates have been booked or preoccupied, making the 16th the best choice if the organizers and attendants don’t plan to go to the tournament or can afford going there a bit late.

As for waiting until the last wing of LFR opens, this isn’t the funeral that capped the siege off but a memorial which can occur after the funeral, before the funeral, at day, at night, right after the battle’s conclusion or weeks after it. I’ll probably attend and just remain vague about its exact time when my character mentions it, only going with saying it happened after the battle.

Good thing that this memorial is unrelated to the ingame event where Rastaskhan’s funeral actually occurs. Why say otherwise when this was clarified by the organizer?

I’m not referring to the ingame event, I’m referring to the inevitable funeral he’ll have in 2 weeks when the gross majority of AD will take his death as canon ( and the BoD raid )

I mean sure, do as you want, I don’t want to be a negative nancy, but it’d be best if we all agreed to ‘update’ our timeline in the same week.
