[H-RP] The Rookery

The hooded woman strides resolutely through the fading light of Silverpine forest, rolls of tattered parchment slung under one bony arm and an oil lamp clutched tightly in the other, casting warm candlelight and illuminating the towering pine trees as she passes. She is alone, the wind and the distant cawing of crows her only companions as she trudges on through the night...

Notices scrawled on roughly cut parchment have been appearing on the command boards and in the inns of Undercity, Silvermoon and Orgrimmar, each bearing the same message. Written in ink by a hand obviously not suited to the task, and a simple illustration of a plump crow adorns the corner of each:

"The Rookery is opening its services to the public. Do you have important or sensitive information that needs to be relayed to a friend/colleague/loved one? Is confidentiality of utmost importance? Then trust the discrete and hard working members of The Rookery to get your message to the intended recipient quickly and securely, confidentiality guaranteed!

In addition, we have skilled agents standing by to assist you with a variety of other tasks, including (but not limited to):
- Information gathering
- Object retrieval & transport
- Artifact research & identification
- Evictions & debt collection
- Hired Muscle
- Locksmithing
- Equipment repair
- Document "correction"
- Fence & Pawnbroking services

No job too small, no distance too great, all jobs considered. Enquiries to be sent to the Rookery Mailbox at the Sephulcher, Silverpine Forest, please include a return address. Meetings in person can be arranged for more sensitive work.

We look forward to hearing from you!"

Below this another note is scribbled in different handwriting:

"Now hiring morally flexible individuals for varied and interesting work, all skill sets desired, room and board provided as required. Enquiries to be sent to the previously mentioned address."

[OOC]

What is The Rookery?
The Rookery is a newly formed roleplaying guild focused on creating a relaxed and welcoming social environment, alongside creative and engaging roleplaying experiences. We’ve now decided to open our doors to other like-minded players who would like a place to call home in the upcoming expansion. Our style of roleplay is inclusive and beginner friendly, and we are always happy to help new roleplayers learn the ropes.

Events
Our events vary from casual meetings and one-off stories, to ongoing storylines run by a dedicated DM (Storyteller). Our events include a variety of genres (adventure, crime, exploration, mystery and horror, to name a few), and are typically loosely structured with plenty of room for improvisation. Character choices and actions have a chance to affect the plot’s outcome and we try and make sure everyone’s characters get to contribute meaningfully.

We're all pretty new to running events, but we've been having a lot of fun diving in, seeing what works and what doesn’t. We aim to have two organized events a week, a casual meeting or one-off story on one day, and a continuation of the current story-line on the other. Most of us are mature players with busy real-life schedules, and our online activity and event times reflect this.

Joining The Rookery
If you’d like to learn more about the guild or apply to join us, please check out our website: http://the-rookery.enjin.com

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Ashwood, Couvillion, Crowfeet or PhoenĂx in-game, or on our website's contact form (http://the-rookery.enjin.com/contact).

Come join us on our adventures!
Props to you guys. Good luck ^^.
"The old, scraggly crow circled the tower, peering through milky eyes at the small figures trecking towards the keep from the smaller buildings near the coast. She knew this place well, from a hatchling she had known it as home. She'd had chicks of her own here. She had nested, fed, nurtured and finally grown old.

The figures were closer now, almost at the entrance. They were strange creatures, not uncommon but inscrutable in motivation, acting on strange whims disconnected from the understandable instincts of nest, scavenge and nurture that were all she knew.

But something sparkled in her old, milky eyes. A dull ember of understanding not yet realised, waiting to be found in the dormant and disused parts of her avian mind, put there by slow and creeping things that slithered and soothed into her being, grasping, pulling, changing...

She let out a single croaking caw and circled slowly back towards tower and nest. She knew the strange, inscrutable creatures would bring food, and she was intent on getting her fill."

Great to see some Horde RP going on! If you guys would like to organize something together feel free to get in touch with me.
That would be great! It's still early days for us but once we've got the ball rolling along nicely we'll be in touch.
Looking forward to that.
Most of us are now back from our summer holidays and events for BfA are being planned!

Give us a message or drop by in-game and come join us on our adventures!
The long, faint shadows in the room flicker as the last flames of the candles die out. One shadow belongs to a lean, long-eared figure sat at the table. Her head lowered, she studies a box laid down in front of her - the disturbing music box.
Val sighs and sits back. She turns her head to the open door; to the night air sifting through the room like a curious but frantic guest.

Perhaps the vision they experienced was a gateway to understanding the purpose of the tree. Black crows falling from the sky, black liquid pooling at their feet, black roots shooting up to trap anyone who dares go further. But they will dare. It was just a matter of convincing the rest.

Her fingers yet again wander to the closed lid in contemplation. She frowns, as if physically trying to keep herself from proceeding.

No, it is better to wait.

We’re still out and about in the world! Join us in the ruins of Pyrewood to discover and weave new stories. \o/

We have just starting using a turn-based combat system using roll mechanics (roll to hit, using emotes) and had some fun with that in the recent event Couvillion described above.

You can see some screenshots from our events in the gallery on our forum: https://the-rookery.enjin.com/

Please drop us a message or apply on our forum if interested!
Good luck.
Hi all, I hope you don't mind us bumping this but I make RP video stories on YouTube every now and then - and we'd like to share our latest one with you! Here's the gist:

The Rookery Search For a Hidden Sword

After moving into the Rookery in Silverpine Forest with her friends Ashwood, Crowfeet and Couvillion, Phoenix receives word from an old contact in Stranglethorn, who believes there's a secret buried deep within the Rookery.

Their curiosity piqued, the Rooks head to Phoenix’s former home in Stranglethorn to question her contact in person. The goblin barkeep says there’s a legend of an old sword, forged with living shadow, resting within the Rookery...

News would usually make its way to The Rookery's crumbling tower on feathered wings, but on occasion it would arrive through the whispers of fleet-footed scouts, or hidden amongst the goods of merchants eager to gain a few extra coins. The Watcher would document any information deemed either valuable or useful in the Rookery's library, making sure to weed out any lies or half-truths along the way.

Tonight, as many nights before, Watcher Ashwood sat at her desk, amidst her steadily growing collection of half-empty coffee mugs, soothing her withering fingers on a newly brewed cup. When she had first arrived the constant cawing of crows had made it difficult to get any work done, but over the last few months she'd grown to find the Rookery's ambiance comforting. This was her home now, and the band of throat-slitters, misfits and thieves in the Rookery's employment were a family, of sorts.

A crow settled down on her shoulder, clicking softly as Ashwood unfastened the straps that attached a small silver scroll case to the bird's leg. The container was empty except for a few strands of auburn hair. "You did good, Esk", Ashwood whispered hoarsely as she gave the bird a little kiss atop of its head, and offered it a generous pinch of wiggling mealworms from a nearby tin.
With double crossing goblins to kill, treasure at the bottom of lakes to recover and terribly written riddles to solve we've had no shortage of work since BfA launched.

New faces and able bodies are welcome as always, so send us a mail or find us in game if you're interested. You'll usually find a few of us at the weekly Tavern night hosted by Ning as well, so feel free to come and share a drink IC.

Oh and if you're interested in coming along, don't forget to bring some coin for you to gamble and for me to win ;)
Had ridden straight through the plague lands with her unit after the meeting at Tyr's hand. Along the scarred north of Tirisfal Glades avoiding the reeking blight and turning south from the old Agamand Mills, they approach Calston estate on the (monday) evening. The entire journey was uneventful except the occasional wandering zombie or two which were dispatched swiftly than to raise alarm in the region.

While the unit sets camp by the wall of the Estate, her eyes capture the notice pasted on the wall. Upon inspecting it, she tears it off and hands it to the Sergent for safe keeping.

"Who knows, we may one day find them useful ..." she says, stepping towards the small Mannor to check with Deathguard Simmer.

There have been strange goings on at the Rookery these past few weeks.

Council member Couvillion came across an old book detailing the history of the Rookery from way back when it was known as Silverlaine Keep, and discovered that its previous inhabitants had a trading ship that was lost at sea.

She has also been trying to determine the purpose and power of a mysterious music box found within the Rookery.

Meanwhile, the Keeper, Crowfeet, has been teaching the Rooks how to train and command the crows in the area, while in return they have been teaching her the art of combat (so that she can go beyond just throwing pebbles at enemies in an attempt to injure them).

Most recently, the Rooks awoke the other morning to find hundreds of crows from the Rookery had flocked to a ship anchored outside the Rookery living quarters. This ship was acquired months back and has been sitting empty and crew-less for a while now.

What could it all mean? What secrets are the senior Rooks guarding? What work will our recent recruits be given? Time may tell…

(OOC: The Rookery (Horde RP guild) is still recruiting! We’re in the process of moving websites at the moment, but you can apply or ask for more information by messaging Ashwood, Crowfeet, Couvillion or Phoeníx in game.)
