Day-by-day

Full Schedule Coming soon!

First Day

The Magical Competiton

The first of the main dojo events is a magical talent competition, where the world’s spellcasters will be able to show their aptitude on offence and defence! Each competitor will have five minuites to prepare and display a spell in two categories.

In the first category, the spellcaster will need to cast a spell to destroy a target in the middle of the arena. They will be judged on the effectiveness, visuals and creativity of the spell by the panel of judges.

In the second category, the spellcaster will need to cast a spell without combat effectiveness, to impress the crowd and judges. They will be judged on the effectiveness, visuals and creativity of the spell by the panel of judges.

Judges Panel

  • Archmage Zyretha Snowdawn (Head Judge)
  • Stellarian Azmira
  • Sinaldra Morrowburn
  • Shylvaindae Voidrunner

OOC Note - Contact Azmira, Shylvaindae or Morrowburn on Alliance or Zyretha on Horde to be invited to the game groups!

The Ground Races

The Competitors will follow a course around the west side of the Monastery Grounds, racing first in qualifying heats with the winner advancing to a final prize race.

The final race will then crown our winners! All forms of mounts that cannot fly may be used in this event.

OOC Note - Contact Goldenfield on Alliance or Eiondel on Horde to join the raid

Second Day

The Sky Race

The Competitors will venture to the Arboretum, and follow the Cloud Serpent racing course, to find the fastest flyers on Azeroth! The first to complete the flag course will be crowned the winner!

All forms of mounts that can fly may be used in this event.

OOC Note - Contact Nomaeori on Alliance or Zyretha on Horde to join the raid

Archery Competition

In this contest, each competitor will be called in a volley to fire upon a target from a set range, selected by an official. Depending on where their shot lands on the target, they will recieve points, up to six for hitting the dead-center of the bullseye!

The winner will be the archer with the highest points total at the end of all the volleys. If there is a tie, the tied competitors will take shots until their tie is broken, with the first to land a better shot than their opponent being declared the winner!

You will also be provided with a high quality bow and arrows for this event to ensure fair and optimal competition. (You may keep the bow afterwards)

OOC Note - Contact Faelenn on Alliance or Leviasun on Horde to join the raid

Third Day

Dazzling Wand Duels (Moonball)

In this game, you will be given a wand that releases a small, harmless magic charge, and compete with another foe to hit each other three times with the projectiles from the wand. The first to do so advances along the single elimination bracket. This is inspired by the Elven game Moonball.

OOC Note - Contact Shylvaindae on Alliance or Zyretha on Horde to join the raid

Jousting

This traditional, straight line joust is a single elimination tournament that will comprise of a best of three lances, or first dismount to be declared the winner. Whomever lands the greatest strikes or unseat their foe first will advance!

Each participant will tilt towards the other three times, and attempt to land and break their lance upon their foe. Depending on whether the lance lands, points will be allocated accordingly. The knight who has the most points after three passes will claim victory and proceed to the next round! The points are allocated as such:

A lance strike upon the torso, arms, head or legs : 1 point
A lance broken cleanly upon the torso, arms, head or legs : 2 points
A lance shattered upon the torso, arms, head or legs : 3 points
Dismounting the opponent : Victory regardless of which pass

Lances will be provided for the event by the organisation team in Argent, Horde and Alliance optional colour schemes. You must wear head protection, but plenty will be freely available in all sizes.

OOC Note - Contact TBA on Alliance or Agrail, Cinthor, Astran, Tialis or Simetra on Horde to join the raid

Fourth Day

Single Combat Duels

In this contest, each competitor will be entered into a Swiss bracket comprising of an appropriate number of rounds, depending on participants. Once the Swiss bracket has ended, the four competitors with the greatest record will advance to a single elimination bracket to declare the winner.

A winner will be decided with whichever opponent lands three strikes on their foe first. Competitors may use any weapons or armor of their choosing, but may not use magic of any form, including enchantments. Kirin Tor Magi will be checking each competitor’s equipment to ensure they are not cheating before they engage in their bouts.

For those without access to non-magical weapons or weapons that cannot be made safe or dulled, there will be a plentiful stock of sparring weapons on hand.

Strikes to the head, neck and groin are banned.

OOC Note - To combat spam, you will be placed in small groups. Please keep an eye out for messages and invites from judges!

Final Day

On the final day of the event, the skills of battle will give way to the traders, educators, performers and artisans of the world, to celebrate in their craft and skills. This is also a chance for weary competitors to rest, make friends and merry before returning to their usual lives.

Main Dojo Performances

The Midnight Theatre will perform at Midnight Saturday 29th May (After the events of the 28th of May)
20:15: The Fablewind Faire will open the show!
21:00: The Quill’s Melody will be performing a play live!

They will also provide a return path at the end of the festivities.

OOC Details

Important OOC Reading!!!

Show respect: This is Azeroth’s distraction from awful events, and watched over by the combined might of the Cenarion, Argent and Kirin Tor and some very skilled monks, and probably a few Shado-pan are watching. Keep your drama and violence out of the monastery so other people can enjoy the event. On an OOC perspective, this event is organised by a small volunteer team who don’t have time to chase after trouble!

No fighting in the grounds: This is Pandaren, aka neutral ground and a major event. Guard presence WILL be stepped up logically. Anyone starting unsanctioned fights would be removed by guards from the event.

Don’t disrupt ongoing events: Not only is it dangerous in most cases, but downright disrespectful. The organisers will have to treat you as having been removed immediately by guards.

Pay attention to time and place yells!: You should always be able to refer to this page, but show business runs to it’s own timings! Keep an eye out for updates concerning the competitions!

Try out the Listener addon: This will help you pick your name out, or when the target sends a message in chat, Very helpful for competitors and traders alike to get information to you!

You MUST use the CrossRP addon: This is so the judges can see rolls cross-faction and facilitate OOC communication. If you don’t have it, you can’t take part in the games.

OOC Game Rules
Arriving Late

If you arrive late to any of the games bar the single combat duels, it is at judges’ discretion to either attempt to wait for you by moving your bout or participation later in to the round or disqualify you. The maximum any judge will wait is 10 out of character minutes for you.

If you are later than ten minutes for a single combat duel, due to the format of the tournament you will immediately forfeit the bout three strikes to zero.

Judges’ ruling on your lateness is final and not up for discussion.

Duels

All rolls are out of 100. To start, roll off. High roll starts as the attacker. Then a standard D100 roll-off between attacker and defender. Rolling a greater attack roll that the defender’s defence roll will cause 1 hit.

The winner is the first to score 3 hits on their opponent. An attacker rolling a 100, or a defender rolling a 1 causes the attacker to gain 1 additional hit scored.

An attacker rolling 1 or a defender rolling 100 causes the defender to score a hit immediately. If a 1 and 100 are both rolled in either case, both effects apply.

Once both players have been both attacker and defender 5 times each, from the 6th onwards, defence rolls will be reduced by 10, which increases by 10 with each defence roll (e.g. on the 8th defence roll, -30).

Please emote concisely as there are a lot of contests to get through, and remember losing will not eliminate you until we know the results of the third round.

Anyone who emotes intent to strike the head, neck or groin of their opponent, use foreign objects, use magic, etc. will be disqualified from that match.

Being disqualified counts as your opponent winning 3 strikes to 0. Your number of strikes you manage to score, even in loss, will be recorded to rank you.

You must remain in the arena at all times.

Unlike other events, this tournament follows a Swiss format, a form of seeded short league where people of similar win rates will face one another. Each competitor will be expecting to fight a minimum of three bouts as a result. So don’t go home after your losing, you could still win it all!

Magic

This will be judged by a panel of judges. The scores they give are their own discretion and are final. Each player will be cut off after three out of character minutes each round to allow everyone a chance to show off.

Jousting

Each person will roll out of 20 as they pass each other, following the margins below to determine how well it lands. Should both end up on the same points after three tilts, then a coin is flipped. Should both dismount the other at once, the one with the highest prior points wins, else if they are the same, a coin is flipped.

1-5 = A miss, your lance fails to make contact (0 points)
6-10 = A hit, your lance breaks upon the legs, arms or shield (1 point)
11-15 = A hit, your lance breaks upon the torso. (2 points)
16-19 = A hit, your lance breaks upon the helmet (3 points)
(Natural) 20 = A dismount, you immediately win your tilt (Instant win the match)

Your mount should be a ground mount that is appropriate for jousting. Good examples are racial mounts or variants of them. A bad example would be a shredder or Infernal. If you’re unsure, contact an organiser in advance or whisper the judges. Your character must also wear some kind of head protection. You can get some to use for free IC from the event.

Archery

A /roll will be used when you are called up to determine where you hit your target.

1: Miss (0 points)
2-20: Outer ring, 1 point
21-40: Second ring, 2 points
41-60: Third ring, 3 points
61-80: Fourth Ring, 4 points
81-99: Bullseye, 5 points
100: Dead center Bullseye, 6 points

IC you will be provided with a standard, good quality bow to ensure fairness and prevent use of enchantments or other special features of a weapon.

Ground Races

A /roll will be used to see how many markers you move along the course.

1-5: Stay in place this round.
6-50: Move forward 1 marker.
51-99: Move forward 2 markers.
100: Move forward 4 markers.

Highest 2 rolls (more if tied) in a round moves 3 markers, unless the highest roll(s) are 100.

Dazzling Rod Duels (Moonball)

You must have the Dazzling Rod toy to take part in this event. No prior quests or content is required to be able to pick up this toy.

You may not use any active movement speed increases, dashes, teleports, blinks, etc. during this game. Passive movement speed increases may still be used as the Rogue and Demon Hunter class would otherwise be unable to participate.

Speed increase gear must be removed however before the event.

You may only run around within the confines of the wooden section of the bottom floor of the dojo, including the central pattern. The first competitor to score three hits on their opponent wins.

You may only run around within the confines of the arena. The first competitor to score three hits on their opponent wins.

Sky Race

A /roll will be used to see how many flags you move along the course. These flags are in-game and used for the Cloud Serpent daily quests.

1-5: Stay in place this round.
6-50: Move forward 1 flag
51-99: Move forward 2 flags.
100: Move forward 4 flags.

Highest 2 rolls (more if tied) in a round moves 3 markers, unless the highest roll(s) are 100.

FAQ
  • Why are there no modifiers for the rolling events?: We want the event to be as accessible and easy to follow for as many people as possible. We also tend to see people pick the highest ones anyway, rendering them moot. If you need to explain any issues your character may have, remember, a big crowd can always knock the nerves!

  • Wasn’t this in Icecrown last time?: The Scourge attack somewhat ruined that. Even with the Scourge situation being unclear, running an event on the doorstep of the enemy, with the sky shattered above makes very little sense.

  • Is there a discord server?: No, there will be no public discord server.

  • How do I sign up in advance to events?: Contact the organiser in-game or via their discord, or reply to the forum thread when posted.

  • Are there in or out of character attendance/participation costs?: No. The prizes will also take the form of medals, trophies, and other roleplaying based rewards, not gold or items.

  • Can I reserve space for Trading/Teaching/Performance?: We would prefer people use the spaces that are not being used for the games on each day on a first come, first served basis. If you want to be advertised in advance, please contact the organisers and it will be added to the page and thread .

  • Will we be able to track the tournament organisation somewhere?: Each day, this page and the forum thread will be updated to contain links to the online tournament brackets, so you can view the progress of competitions where this is appropriate.

  • What about the Scourge this tournament occurs?: It is assumed by the organisers the Pandaria presence of the Scourge is relatively minor. We are aware Patch 9.1 may be released and new information given before that, and will adapt as we see things.

  • Does Tian Monastery have phasing issues?: No, This area was selected due to being diverse enough for all the activities, while not having any phasing.
