Half breeds in Lore

everyone is a self insert

Not really, I mean you’re welcome for self-inserting yourself to a char and I guest majority of human players does it. But I look at my characters like writer does and tries to bring them personalities and behaviors that are completely alien to me.

The race that has attitude and priorities that fits me the most are pandaren not trolls.

I don’t think just because someone plays a Human, that they are “self-inserting” themselves… Wow Humans are nothing like IRL humans, who have a lot of different cultures.

A self-insert would be Nat Pagle for example.

Weeelll, we don’t actually know that they can’t. I mean technically if High Elves can, then Night Elves can. The question is whether they would -want- to. I mean we know the Windrunners are awful writing, but have you noticed how it is always a Hawt Elven Chick hanging off the army of a Human male to make him look even cooler? Its like somebody read ‘Lord of the Rings’ and Aragorn and Arwen and went “Yeah, that’s how it works!”. Then repeated it. Three bloody times…

Where are the Elven males going “I want to bang a person with the life expectancy of a hamster in comparison to me, because that isn’t at all going to be traumatic for me when they wither and die, or for them when they go grey and wrinkled and I look the same as when we met. It certainly isn’t going to cause our kid mental trauma!”

Yet these beautiful Elven chicks seem to go for Human boy toys all the time…It’s a definite wish fulfilment thing.

Now this is where I go a bit grim…

You have two parents, created as a result of a magical experiment gone wrong, infused with a chaotic power of entropy and destruction, and they decide to bang. Lets assume Void Elves are fertile, personally I highly doubt that, the Void does not create, it destroys. But sure, lets assume they are.

You have a foetus gestating in the womb for lets assume nine months, every day subjected, in utero to the maddening whispers and urgings of the Old Gods. It has no defences, it has not the willpower to resist, why? Because you’re not even Sentient or Sapient in the womb, even at birth a newborn infant does not class as Sentient or Sapient, they have less self awareness than a cat or a dog, you don’t develop that for a good few years after birth.

So they are in the womb, getting these screwed up impulses and messages in your mind that has not even formed yet, in blessed darkness, and then suddenly, there is Light, you are born. You still don’t have a sense of self, but in Utero you are infused with the Void, you can’t resist, because you don’t even know who -you- are yet.

The offspring of two Void Elves would be a horrific mewling mess that cannot even form thoughts, or articulate the horrors going through its mind. There was no Alleria to save it, during those nine months in the dark, with nothing but the whispers. All these horrific urges that it cannot even implement because it cannot walk, or manipulate items, just locked inside an infant’s body with nothing but the constant hammering at their mind by the Void, not even being able to form their own personality because of the incessant clamour in their head.

The question isn’t so much -can- Void Elves procreate, it is more that of How Evil and Twisted would you have to be, to knowingly inflict that upon a child in your womb? To knowingly torment and twist a blameless innocent?

If Void Elves truly are studying the Void to protect the world, they are not going to be evil enough to do that, I mean that is next level types of horror.

I’d imagine any Void Elves ‘lucky’ enough to have a sexual partner would be -very- careful not to allow that to happen, as otherwise they are the most blackest, foulest of creatures, that makes Sylvanas look like a cuddly fluffbunny.

Told you it went grim…

I don’t think that’s true
The destruction theme is rather related to fel (opposed to arcane, which is creation).

The Void does create stuff (old gods and their minions for example).

Those pesky Void elves and their fantasies. Should’ve purge them when we had a chance.

…Kael’thas?

My headcanon is that all the races who have a connection to the Titans are compatible with one another because of “titan magic”. (it’s also the reason why everybody is able to speak common: The language is basically written into their DNA.)

Good point. Although it was Jaina. Everything falls in love with Jaina, even magic wielding flying crocodiles fall in love with Jaina.

That’s actually a pretty awesome logic. Doesn’t explain half-elves though, as I’m pretty sure (might be mistaken) that Elves aren’t of Titan origin. I love the idea of the Common tongue being hardwired into people’s DNA though. That is an amazing concept, every person’s brain is their own Tower of Babel, and it was -engineered- that way. Oh that’s good, I like that…

Jaina may have had two boys chasing her, but Azshara had her entire large-scale empire fall for her, including demons of all sorts.

Azshara is a special case, in more ways than one! She’s like Khadgar to me, one of those characters I was like “Meh, I know who you are and what you did, but I just don’t care about you” only for Blizz to release something that makes you go “Oh! WoW, I actually now am emotionally invested” I’m probably one of the few who actually -likes- Khadgar’s ‘Dad Jokes’ kind of thing, and I will freely admit that the Azshara:Warbringers cinematic was just perfect, and its like "You know what, with that cast iron self assurance, there is actually something very attractive about such a personality. When she is floating, before a very depiction of an Old God, and is clearly in awe, and yet her response is a simple “No”

Come on, tell me that isn’t sexy as hell…

Well, frankly, No. Jaina would be the right age demographic for me IRL, and with no disrespect to my current love interest who also plays WoW and sometimes frequents the forums (because this doesn’t apply to her) she does match my ‘type’ as in “Dude, don’t stick your **** into the Crazy!” (Just clarifying, that does not apply to her! more past liasons)

Even so, they do keep trying to pair her off with various male NPC’s. She doesn’t need that. A strong female character is perfectly capable of standing on her own. Jaina doesn’t need a crutch, she is a strong (if sometimes unpredictable) character in her own right.

The elves themselves don’t have a direct connection to the titans, but an indirect one in the form of the Well of Eternity. The high elves got further influenced by the Sunwell.

Following this logic however there are a handful of races who shouldn’t be compatible with anyone else:

  • Trolls (at least with humans, orcs etc. Maybe it works with night elves, but we don’t really have a source)
  • Yaungol/Taunka (the original tauren settled around the Well of Eternity as well, these two tribes didn’t however)

Pandaren and draenei are both special cases. We don’t know their direct origins. We know that half-draenei exist, and that their world had a world soul so they seemingly got influenced by the titans at some point. Nothing is known about the pandaren however.
