Hardcore PvP Option

Hello,

I know Blizzard rarely reads forums & I think even when they do they don’t read the European ones. But I would like to share an idea for Hardcore PvP.

This could be a separate server or patched into the existing servers.

How would it work ?

Key points

  1. Ability to PVP flag would be completely removed in regular game mode
  2. Upon hitting level 15 players would be given the opportunity to turn on “Warmode” similar to retail servers.
  3. Warmode would consist of all players currently in Warmode and all players would be permaflagged for PVP in all zones except designated racial starting areas.
    For example;

Alliance Zones-
Dwarf/Gnome - Dun Morough/Loch modan
Human - Westfall/Redridge/Elwyn forest
Night elf - Teldrassil/Darkshore

  1. This could only be toggled on/off in cities/towns or in an inn. All inns would be considered sanctuaries.

  2. Upon death, players would drop full loot, gold etc everything they carried at the time. This would glow as quest items do in retail. If not looted within 10 mins it despawns. Dead characters can be xfered to era but would not keep the gear they carried on them at time of death.

  3. Grouping in Warmode Is disabled and all players can attack each other regardless of faction whilst in Warmode. However there could be additional rewards for killing the opposite faction. AoE spells like Blizzard would damage all they hit.

  4. Players cannot engage a character that is more than 5 levels below them unless said player engages them first.

  5. Dungeons and PvE content like raids would be disabled

  6. Killing a player would drop 2x ears. These ears in sufficient quantities can be traded for potions of the undying, in which you can obtain Immunity from PvP in Warmode for a short period such as one hour. Alternatively can be collected and used as currency to buy raid or PvP gear…

  7. Player who defeat another player in a duel to the death in PvE mode, would obtain a similar set of ears as they do already. This would be equivalent to the ears obtained in Warmode.

Why would anyone play this

Benefits of playing in war mode

  1. Ability to PVP and obtain loot from other players

  2. Increased xp rates of 3x

  3. Increased gather rates of 3x

  4. Quest items would reward equivalent dungeon items for thier level range.
    Example -
Quests in WPL could reward pieces of the D1/D2 gear

  5. Item drops from mobs would be significantly more frequent and better quality.

This is a rough idea, but I think it is a cool concept that could work very well. It would be entirely optional for players to participate in and could exist alongside or within the existing servers…

You can do some of that now. But PvP being active on Hardcore is a stupid idea.

Do PvP for 5 min and lose 100 of hours of progression? What’s the point?

You haven’t read the post, why reply

It’s called being killed by a level 60 who enjoys ruining the experience of low level players.

We don’t need retail rubbish in Classic.

Again, you haven’t read my post. You are replying without reading what I’m asking for.

You have read the title and replied, I’ve addressed that concern in the post with two factors.

  1. This mode is entirely optional, whether it is implemented on existing servers or as new servers. Players can choose to take the risk of PvP under this system in return for higher rewards, increased XP gain, or remain on PvE hardcore.

  2. I suggested that even with toggle on warmode, you would not be able to kill characters more than five levels below you, unless they attack you first.

Every Hardcore PvP full loot MMORPG died shortly after release. It is fun on paper, but when you die to mobs you blame yourself, but vs a player you start looking for the ways he must had been cheating. Blizzard made their statement about PvP in HC by releasing no PvP realms, disabling flagging and BGs, yet you didn’t got the message. Mak’gora is only exception, but even in it you do not get opponent’s loot, because that could be exploited by gear sellers.

Yet there are wow private servers that have existed for several years, who run this sort of server and is always very popular. No perma death sure.

Besides, no new servers are needed for this. It could be implemented on existing servers and it is up to players if they want to participate.

I’ve read through it again and it’s still not a good idea for existing realms and I very much dislike the fact that players who use it get added extras. I am 100% against this.

They should not get anything extra for playing how they want, there should be no Half life type drops of other people’s gear either.

The only thing they should add to the current game is the 5 levels thing when you /pvp on. Nothing else should be done.

So popular that noone heard of them.

Because everything you added breaks the Classic with one life only vibe. Warmode didn’t worked well in Retail giving one faction perms bonuses and other being hunted.

You probably have heard of them, is it still against the rules to type PS names on forums? If not I will say the name

Yes it is indeed.

Hello gnome
I throw money into the monitor, but my monitor does not accept cash bills…
I’m willing to pay double the price to subscribe to the server you’re talking about! The only negative is the increase in experience by 3 times. I do not like this.

Another try to make classic into a lil safe zone for casuals.
Hahaha.
No.
It’ll never happen, thank GOD.

What do you mean safe zone for casuals?

You cannot die in Hardcore PvE unless you are a)bad b) have connection issue or die in hyperspawn (both blizz fault) or c) die max level content.

There is not much hardcore about a pve server

Safe zones like we have in retail where there’s 0 danger in open world.
Classic and all the amazing open world pvp (contested zones) was a part of WoW and a very interactive one.
And that argument just goes against your initial suggestion so im glad you yourself can see it makes no sense.

Yeah but the problem with this is that no one except ppl like me and you would play this.

I have no problem with normal PvP server but with hardcore, it is just blizzard ain’t gonna do it

Unfortunately (mostly for you) you know that ain’t true.
There’s a reason there’s tons and tons of private servers, and PvP is one of them.
Warmane and Nostalrius show that the popularity of pvp even in this circumstances is very welcomed.
I played WotlK for 2-3 years, I loved every second of it.
I won’t deny that being killed over and over sucked for people who don’t like or want to pvp, but it was a core part and it always raised warfare in those maps.
Call guildies, or kill them yourself.
It’s a vital part of the game and I wish it was still like that in retail.
Warmode is a sham, it’s disgusting and trash.

Neither of those servers were hardcore PvP.

I have never played Retail Warmode. I only play servers where PvP is a thing, though I might try Classic Hardcore.

You assume I don’t want PvP, but the reason this character is level 73 is because I play on Migraine as alliance. Can you imagine the PvP I have on this server ? I don’t even quest, just kill horde. I don’t even plan to hit 80.

I would love a wotlk server where it was Pvp and has balanced pop like server you mentioned.

I will never play retail wow again because they removed PvP servers. But the Warmode seems like a good solution for having PvP on hardcore servers because most classic players want a pve server.

It would at least give players like me and you the oppurtunity to play PvP on a hardcore server with rewards and those who don’t want don’t have to participate

?
What do you mean by “hardcore PvP”.
PvP is PvP.
What you ask for is the extinction of PvP in a nutshell.
Hardcore PvP doesn’t exist; you can do it or you don’t.
Dying to a player HAD always been a part of WoW.
I do not know wether Classic Hardcore has PvP on or not, but it should; having the danger to die to the opposite faction in a duel to the death should also be part of the experience.

I prefer forcing everyone to participate.
Like I said, it can suck for those who don’t want it, but it has always been the case and there’s ways to deal with it.
It’s part of the fun.
