American Hollywood mindset + gamers moment. Not the last time we see this for sure.
Yes, it’s because they said progressive things that they’re being sued by the government for, among other things, driving a woman to suicide. You cracked the code. If they’d said “We hate minorities and love racism” then clearly they’d have got off from that free.
Not to change the subject - because frankly we should be focusing on what Blizzard have done - Believe Women doesn’t mean that we should assume all men / alleged abusers should be proclaimed as guilty immediately.
It was born from a horrendously low conviction rate in rape cases, and due to the fact that the sexual abuse of women is still endemic in western society. When a woman - any woman - comes forward to say that they’ve been abused, they shouldn’t be dismissed or called out as liars or any sexually derogatory terms.
It doesn’t a long dive into the topic to find out that the whole ‘Believe All Women’ thing is a right-wing strawman.
I stopped watching certain youtubers who’ve been saying that, among other anti-LGBT stuff.
We know a woman committed suicide, I don’t really think it’s fair to blame anyone for someone’s suicide. Blizzard says it wasn’t connected and these guys says it is, Blizzard say they can prove it in court and we shall see. By bringing up such a dark topic it will ofc create an emotional response and at that point people may not see reason.
Blizzards higher ups have tried to create an image that they are very progressive because it sells at the moment. We can see this from plenty of other brands and people who have painted themselves as progressive, while also doing things not so much. If Blizz had just stayed quiet and didn’t say anything about being pro women and all the inclusiveness and what not, then they would just be seen as a company. Then the nepotism and off colour/darker humour wouldn’t be seen as one of the talking points of this lawsuit. Where most businesses have both of these things and that’s okay. If you don’t like the culture of the work place then you can leave.
You can joke about things while not harbouring malice or ill will towards those things.

Good article on it.
Humour is a tactful thing, what you can joke around about with one person may not apply to another, everyone has their own sensibilities. That goes for in the workplace too, if you’re making someone uncomfortable with your humour. Just don’t crack those jokes around them. It’s not hard.
Something tells me falling out of one job and into another isn’t really all that easy and doesn’t really take into consideration someone’s finances.
Speechless. And disgusted.
If I join a work place I don’t expect them to change for me.
“If you don’t like your job, then leave it.”
Perfect advice except - like Aerilen said - it’s completely ignorant of the person’s circumstances. Maybe the job market is terrible, maybe they have bills they desperately need to pay, dependents who rely on them.
Very few people outside of the privileged class can just ditch a job with no personal consequences.
As for not expecting them to ‘change’, then that’s pretty nonsense too. Workplaces have the responsibility to create a productive atmosphere for everyone – and to avoid noxious humour at the expense of people who neither asked for it nor appreciate it.
Given that we’re talking about a case of sexual abuse, disregard for privacy, and inequalities, I’m going to ask you to reconsider what you just wrote and ask you if you still stand by it.
Thankfully because of America’s robust social safety net, leaving jobs with toxic cultures poses no risk to health or home.
wait no
no it’s the opposite of what I said
No but it’s basic human decency to not make people uncomfortable or upset them. If you do something, knowing someone doesn’t like it, repeatedly. You’re what one could consider to be a bit of a “chode”.
If they ask you to stop, you stop. If you can see that they’re clearly not enjoying what you’re joking about then you stop. Pretty wild to see that people haven’t emotionally developed enough to grasp this lmao.
It’s just banter though lmao no harm in it
Said J Allen Brack probably
Have you read what I was responding to? I was talking about the ‘Frat boy’ culture and nepotism which exists in many work places. These are also claims at the moment, we will see what comes out of the court case.
Clearly that’s not the most important part, they’re to be read as part of a general climate which promotes toxicity - again, if these claims are true, though they are likely to be
If we weren’t allowed to challenge workplace culture or push for its change, women would have never been able to enter the workplace at all.
And that makes them “alright”?
It might not be something you or I would like to work in but different work places have different cultures. There are many different cultures I wouldn’t feel comfortable with but I wouldn’t sue them for it.
They’re being sued for sexual harassment Roj…
