Has any of you been able to create an Earthen after unlock?

Cannot create new character (Earthen)

Character creation constantly times out and then I can’t even load in my regular character list anymore. I am thus forced to close the game using Alt+F4 and then try again. I can log in to my existing characters as far as I can tell, but creating the newly unlocked Earthen is just not working.
