Has there ever been a Blizzard statement why the whole game world is synched to realtime day cycle?

I mean, it’s not even just Azeroth, right? Everything has the same day-night cycle as the real world. It has been explained before how that sucks for people who tend to always play during the evening/night, and those who never play then miss out on the night scenery.
But instead of simply asynching it, Blizzard even eventually added toy that allows two hours of forced daylight every 24 hours, which is complicated to manage, because it ends when you die, and for people whl play more than 2 hours max a day it still is quite dark.

Personally I, begrudgingly, resorted to raising/maxing some graphical sliders in order to get at least some world visibility.

We don’t even have night vision goggles, right? Kind of a lore breaker to have adventurers to their dangerous work during the night.

It gets even worse when there is lore activity clashing with it, like when someone says what a beautiful, shiny, bright day it is, even though it is night.
And rock climbing at night seems very weird, too.

Bet you’re glad they didn’t keep Darkshire as dark as it was meant to be from back in the Vanilla beta.

Because it makes the game feel more immersive obviously. The vast majority of players like this feature of night and day, they’re not just gonna change it because 1 in 50 people like yourself are weird about it. You just sound like someone who complains about any little thing for the sake of it.

I like it personally. My sleeping cycle is screwed at the moment so when it gets light outside it gets light in game and makes me feel more awake and happy.

We can use inky black potion to simulate night time (it looks pretty cool, there’s tons of light sources you never notice even during the natural night cycle).

As for forcing a daytime, sure they could add a counterpart to this potion.

I think the OP might be talking about faster than real life day and night cycles.
A certain other MMO cycles though day and night within 70 min.

Though WoW is probably not going to change after setting precedent.
But I think it would be nice to have a daylight version of the inky black potion

Unless there is a specific reason for playing in a Night setting, like Horrorgame or Stealth advantage, i dont like playing when its Night ingame.
Pandaria, WoD and BFA i liked to see much more in Daytime, but as most People, cant play during Daytime.

Shorter Day/Night Cycle or toggleable would be appreciated.

There’s Sunwarmed Sand, but I think it’s only available during the anniversary event.

Thanks for your feedback. Because otherwise this thread is full of bad reading comprehension and worse.

That could explain the style of your comment.

Thankfully I play during the day so rarely have to do stuff in the dark. My eyesight is poor so when it’s night I do struggle a bit (also when the weather is very rainy, it obsures things a lot).
I think these should be in the Option somewhere. Day / Night Cycle : Off / Slightly Dim / Very Dark
Weather Effects : None / Mild / Heavy.

I did use a console command to try and reduce the rain effect but it didn’t seem to make much difference.

I agree doing faster day/night circles would be an improvement to the game, even if it’s just a minor one. I was wondering about the same thing for people who can only play at certain times and therefore never see daylight / night in WoW. Having faster rotations takes nothing away from the game.

Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t the visibility loss during the night time removed in retail, thus I assume you are playing Classic, OP.

It was kind of annoying but also one of those core RPG things that I miss these days.

it’s a toy, i just don’t find it that efficient. way too long of a cd for, like, 2 hours of day time.

one thing game makers have yet to master is genuine blackness of a moonless night there is not a single game or pc that can master this fact absolute black is impossible at the present time

i have nothing against night and day light cycles, but sometimes it gets a bit annoying when i try to dragon ride in darker areas.

thank god for that. there is immersion, and then there is too much immersion.

unless it serves a gameplay purpose , why would you want something like that?

it’s the same for movies; all scenes in forests in the middle of the night , when you should not be able to see your hand in front of your face, have huge lights lightning the backround so we can see the story, plus dark blue filters on cameras, cause it serves no purpose seeing nothing on the screen.

I will be honest. Don’t even notice. So if they changed it probably would still not notice.

Not noticed since vanilla anyway, the immersion was different then

There is (or was) also a consumable with a 10 sec cooldown

again the problem is you have to stock in advance during the anniversary.

Yeah you are the same person who also wants every healer to be all the same, sounds like you just want the whole game flippantly altered to your whims to fill your own personal wants/needs/vision regardless of how terrible an idea it would be overall. Having faster rotations would make it loads less immersive. Just because you could do something doesn’t mean you should.

I really, really hate games that have multiple day/night cycles within a day, It is super stressfull. I mostly play durng the evening, and I want it to stay as it is.
