Is Holy Paladin as healer viable on low level?
So far (15) my only healing spell is Holy Light and it ooms me fast.
Are there some tips and tricks so I could join in a group for deadmines later (18) on?
Or are Holy Paladins just unviable at this low lvl?
You can heal dungeons as retribution Paladin for the most part up to perhaps zf, i dont know if you are a viable healer 50+ as retri. It requires however that the group adapt to the situation and use some CCs.
After ZF u can heal with downranks if u use blessing of light happy healing alliance, u will desperately need it when u meet me and im 60 and ur 20 and u try to run after 1 corruption. Mwahahahahahah

Try to use lower rank heals aswell. That way you dont overheal and you wont go oom that fast
And this is why mp5 is good, if u find items while questing, pick this and u can heal lots of dung. And if im outside dung no1 will help u from my shadow bolt crits. Mwahahahah

By MP5 items you mean +Spirit items, right?
You could do that as ret let alone holy I’ve never had any real issues except for when warriors decide they want to 2h tank and think i can outheal that.
There are som items that has actual +mana per 5sec regen, so few items, bis for resto shaman and maybe play, not sure, but thers only few of them, not sure if any during lvling phases…

Devo aura, BoW on yourself, bind about 3 ranks of HL.
Don’t spam max rank (in fact, don’t ever spam). Use your medium rank as a maintenance heal. Vanilla damage is not spiky like in later expansions, so you have time to land your heals. There’s no need to keep everyone at 100% the whole time.
Use your highest rank only on the tank (or yourself if you happen to get hit hard). Use it sparingly, only when the target drops below 50%.
Melee between heals. Chain casting will oom you, even with BoW on, so you might as well help dps to speed up the fight.
Obviously, wear full +int gear, regardless of whether it’s cloth, leather or mail.
If you feel insecure, wait till 20 because that’s when you get a new rank of Devo Aura, plus Blessing of Kings and Flash of Light.
It gets a lot better and more interesting once you have several situational auras, seals/judgements, and blessings.

Tbh ur best to wait till lvl 20 flash heal is so much better for paladin healing
It’s ok even if you’re deep ret.
Until you get to 40-ish. You need the mana efficiency from Illumination to not go oom instantly, Divine Favor makes big heals guaranteed too which is awesome. For the same reason, holy becomes much, much stronger around 40 when you get Illumination and Favor
It’s doable yes. I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I feel like my healing is fine. At this point I’d even say that Paladin feels strong, I usually heal with biggest Holy Light and let target fell low HP (half hp), so I am mana efficient and my Spirit does some work in between.
Thanks for all suggestions and advices.
There is no “holy paladin” at this low level. You barely have, what, +5 intellect?
Since Holy Light is your only heal at this point, what you should do is have different ranks of it on your bars - your max rank and the one before it should be enough. Also, as a general advice for any healer - never start dungeons without at least 2 stacks of water.
Stay strong, however, as leveling as holy gives you access to Consecration and allows you to play as a “shockadin”. Heck, if you’re sticking to mail & 1h+shield, you may even tank with Consecration and Righteous Fury on.
Edit: what Akhari said above is very comprehensive and is the difference between an actual paladin and a Holy Light bot.
+MP5 is a separate stat. This regen ignores the 5 second rule, meaning you can continue this mana regen during spell casting.
Get the cooking skill for the mana fish. Is pretty usefull
Spirit is only useful for Priests and Druids since they both have talents that let them continue to regen mana by 15% of their Spirit. Other healers should prioritize MP5 = Intellect > Spirit. Spirit is still decent for Paladins and Shaman, but it won’t help you during combat.
Ret can heal just fine 50+, with a hybrid spec of 21/0/30 (well, at 50 you would be at 11/0/30) or something along those lines. It’s more about having an alternate set of gear, which can be a bit of a pain to get at those low levels.
Down ranking your spells. I keep at least 4 different ranks of healing touch up on my druid. Tanks get the highest rank but classes like mages only need a little heal every now and then. Saves on a lot of Mana and depending on your level/spell rank, saves on cast time too.
And stop talking about MP5, please. The guy is 20lvl. Spirit is the only regen stat he has access to, which means he must use the 5-second rule or go OOM.
Int crit rating is also more beneficial to Shamans and Druids in the way that they get more crit rating from less intellect.
