Healer Talents

I’m mostly specced in Shadow Priest but when I need to be Healer for dungeons are there any fundamental healing talents that are a must for healers? Just so I can boost my healing.

Keep grinding!

Im feral tank. I have 0 healing skills. Im deep into feral. Just keep/spirit int gear so i dont oom. From what ive heard theres no problem up to 60. Pretty sure thats true for shadowpriest as well.

You aren’t a healer for dungeons though?

Shadow priest can heal dungeons up to lvl 60 just fine. Don’t worry about the talents.

I’m doing Uldaman right now and it’s difficult to sustain big heals without running out of mana. Our tank isn’t specced correctly for generating threat so just thought it might be a talent thing.

Normally you needn’t be tank spec or healing spec to tank and heal while leveling, but since it’s been very common for tanks to go with 2H in dungeons, instead of shield and 1H, in Classic, I can understand if it’s a lot tougher for the healer.

No problem being shadow specced and heal dungeons while levelling. Just get enough spirit and you’re golden.

There are several talents in the holy tee that reduce cost or increase effects of the healins spells, those are the most important ones. You should of course also have meditation

I leveled all the way to 60 as shadow, healing spellcleve mostly, you’ll be fine. At 60 though you’re really probably gonna want to go holy honestly - it becomes difficult sometimes if you have no mage drinks or a undergeared group.

This is the answers I was hoping for. I’ll always be the role of Healer in dungeons so speccing some points in Holy etc is gunna be helpful.

Also with Meditation as you recommended, which of the Discipline talents in row two do I go for? I’m thinking both of the power word ones.

Yes i have 5 points in both stamina and shield

ideal is to have inner focus in disc. it helps a ton with healing. and mana management.

and maybe this will help you.

While the talents in holy and discipline are great for healing, they are not needed at all for dungeon healing, and taking them will harm your solo capabilities compared to the standard route of wand+ spirit tap then going down shadow tree.

You will evenetually get Meditation as Shadow, but you only get there in your 50s, and it’s not worth sacrificing shadowform for it.

It depends really how much you are running dungeons, if you spam those everytime you log on, then you are better off going full healing spec.
But if you are questing alongside dungeon runs, go shadow.

Edit: a good tip for dungeon running as shadow, is to try and get off some wand shots at mobs close to dying, then you can get the spirit tap buff up quite often, which is simply amazing

100% agree

Great thanks.

I healed in dungeons as enhancement shaman from lvl 1 to 56 and had no problems whatsoever.

Thats because shaman talents only improve healing done at the bottom of the resto tree.

i found out healing as shadow felt like healing as resto up to 55.

I personally don’t see a point in min maxing talents at this stage since I had no issues with healing lvl 60 dungeons, UBRS and MC in my ele/resto spec (31/0/20).

It’s mostly about the gear at this stage and not so much about the spec you’re playing.

Meditation, nothing else.

If enh shaman can heal everything up to 60 lvl, then shadow priest can do it even better I think. Just keep your int/spr gear up.
