Healing and tank specs should have 'pet's

except you edited as I was posting . it was a bug.

If we have to allow for bugs before ever coming up with any ideas then we should all just stop right now and never bother talking.

I don’t feel like you’re meeting me haflway here so let’s stop this back and forth for now.

Was? It’s still in the game and has been since vanilla.

It’s not my responsibility to debug the game for you. if you get stuck in combat, which we al do from time to time, just alt+f4 to d/c and then you are either dead or fine. that’s the rub.

please stop with this nitpicking. I think I had a good idea, if you don’t like the principle of it, then please share, but it’s unfair to just poke holes and nitpick.

Those wings would have to be twice as big to be able to carry all that weight.

I tank only because it gets me instainvited to all content. But for prot tank you really have only one fun skill. The rest of the skills feel anemic, or have little to no visual flare. You can’t have a skill named “devastate” and have it feel like a basic attack. Demoralizing Shout, like all shouts, feels pathetic. This is why I say it’s not fun.

It is fun, I enjoy it, but the problem with prot is that all skills feel like autoattack. Maybe it’s different now, I haven’t tanked in prepatch tbh.

Sounds like you should try another tank tbh. I’ve tried warrior and definitely did not enjoy tanking as a warrior.

I would hate the idea as a tank tbh. The game does not need to teach people how to tank/heal in any single moment they are not into instanced content.

Plus pet AI is really “” silly"", so no thanks.

we’re not talking about AI. I pointed out previously, it would behave more like storm earth ad fire. the ‘pet’ would attack what you attack and it would stick pretty close to you.

It’s pretty much the difference between… I hit this mob for 5 minutes and kill it because my moves are focuse on aggro not dps.
and … I hit this thing and use my aggro moves to keep the mob from hitting this thing right next to me, and take it down in 1 minute.

I’ve played prot pala and I know I would definitely have preferred to take down the mmobs faster while learning how to use my aggro moves, etc.

Lol, “I’m just gonna skirt this rock here, i’ll avoid pulling the pack as a result too”. Pet goes “WHAT IS THIS OBSTACLE? I BETTER RUN AROUND IT!” and aggros everything in sight.

My contention is I don’t feel it’s necessary. I feel there are better ways to introduce the “dungeon role” to classes and specs without forcing it on people when they level.

When I play my mistweaver in open world, I quite like smashing people’s faces in. Just because I level as a healer spec it doesn’t mean I want to babysit a tank. Maybe I like the thematic, maybe I like the idea of being able to toss heals on others I find without babysitting them, maybe i just find it smoother for x or Y reason.

I’m sure I’m not alone. Maybe there is a need for more elegant training mechanics, but making them part of levelling is not it imo. It should be clearly within the context of dungeons.

Maybe a higher version of Darkmaul Citadel you can Q at between 10-50 that offers slightly less exp than a standard dungeon (to prevent farm) but it is gentle enough, and it has encounters specifically designed to utilise your healer/tank kit and NPCs call out to the specific role? Issue here is classes not learning skills until later on I guess.

Or they can implement GuildWars1 henchmen system.

For those who haven’t played it:

You have up to 7 NPCs on which you put same skills as any other player and if you want to you can micromanage them, or you can let them do their thing.

@OP - we forgot to mention that there’s a huge incentive for players to learn to tank and heal, and that is the dramatically reduced time spent in lfd. For tanks, dungeons pop instantly and leveling dungeons are easy enough and you can safely learn to tank.

Pally is also putting me to sleep. DH tanking was fun, but DH dps was boring so I quit the class. I tried DK and it looked fun, but I never managed to understand it and kept getting floored while tanking with it so I stuck with what I know.

maybe have this simple ‘pet’ only active when in combat?

I personally think that is a problem, because you have players tanking and healing who don’t really enjoy those roles quite so much.

a previous poster mentioned their girlfriend who doesn’t want to play the game because she doesn’t want to kill stuff. if a player could play the whole game just healing, then we would get more players who are more suited to that role and could become incredibly skilled at it and more fun for everyone.

If you’re murdering someone and I am cheering you on, I am complicit in that murder, mate. Healers are still killing, even if it is by using me as their proxy. The girl just doesn’t enjoy violence in games, let her have that choice.

Wich is like one of the most bugged dps CD in the game?

The option is still there in 2 forms already.

  • Play your dps spec.
  • Play a tank with a dps oriented build.

And please don’t use the “but then you are dpsing and not doing what you are supposed to do” excuse.

Healing an npc or tanking for it won’t teach you how to tank or heal, is just a boring pain.
Game should not be role focused 100% of the time anyway.

hmm… I guess we’re really lucky we aren’t playing a role playing game then!! … oh wait…

what has a bugged CD got to do with hte mechanics of how it behaves??

But the role play game give you a lot of solution already, and i agree with the already presents solutions.

I don’t want to do even less damage while tanking for a useless AI, i might be a tank but i enjoy maximizing my damage as well.

Because i never saw a pet AI free of problems in this game? Be it a true pet or SEF, everything not controlled directly by the player happens to have issues, so it is an hard pass for me.

Ah, you must be new here. There is a class for that. its called ‘‘warlock’’ .And they self heal like as if they are low ilvl healers lol.

i know how to tank and i know how to dps but i cannot heal for damn

so i decided to roll a resto druid no heirlooms as i’ve only collected for melee classes

tank pulls huge groups and begins shouting when my healing is lacking me spamming my heals to the point where my skin and flesh comes off my fingers and all thats left is bone mashing down on the button

then i look up everyone shouting as if i was having a vietnam flashback then i was kicked with the reason of being a trash healer

SW:ToR’s companions anyone? :eyes:
