High elves and blood elf Customization's

Well you got the skin and the model. I’d say enough inclusion and more imagination. Regardless of what you say or think those are Void Elves, not High Elves. And unfortunately for you your favorite race is in fact on the Horde side.

But considering they set you people off, it might be best they become Void Elves.

Yes, the uniqueness. And God knows what else when you people figure out you are playing Void Elves painted to look like Blood Elves.

And what’s the lore reasoning to not give the hair as well?

This statement about high elf options by Blizzard art director Ely Cannon says it as well:

Notably that it’s a matter of high elf customisations , specifically choosing where one wants to align and what fantasy to play out .

You think it’s likely that all high elves will become void elves? Riiiiiiiiight…

I can literally go and make a copy of any character in-game on the same faction. Uniqueness is never guaranteed. You just want it to be unique for your own faction.

Void radiation I suppose.

If Blizzard thinks it’s ok to clone belfs just cause nobody spoke up well, then maybe it’s time we speak up. Which is what I’m doing.

It would be for the best.

That logic is so messed up it’s funny. So lemme get this straight. You think because character of the SAME RACE in THE SAME FACTION can have identical customization options, you should clone belfs?

Man the point is to let races be more unique by not cloning them. Get it?

As a high elf fan, I agree. Not all of us want natural hair colors.

With the current customization we are getting, we do have more than enough to look like High elves, even without the natural hair.

Here is how my hunter is going to look in Shadowlands:

Tell me she doesn’t look like a High elf. You guys complaining are making us High elf fans look bad. Seriously…

I think many Alliance fans would have been totally happy with a different pose and some ear tweaks to make the Void ‘High’ Elves more unique. (Rrrright, lol, I am currently imagining a very void-‘drunk’ elf. Guess that stuff ain’t good for them in the long run)

I mean like what they did with the Night Elf model when creating the Nightborne.

(Edit, messed up race’s name)

Well don’t be too convinced. They swore they’d be happy with Velfs, the belf model. They swore they’d be happy with the skin. Now they (not including Vanalia) want the hair. What’s next after that?

Not me… I love my pose

Again, I never asked for hair colors. Please don’t group us together.

Duh, ok. Why not then if I may ask?

I get it that you like it as it is, but when the base model is the same and what changes is mainly the idle animation… what would annoy you? Besides… couldn’t you possibly find out you’d love the new pose even more?

I would personally find it cool if they were more unique. But then again I only rolled a velf for variety (I like to have one toon per race and collect heritage sets) so maybe I am missing a fundamental detail?

I am genuinely asking here, because as far as I am concerned they could change the idle pose of all of my toons and I don’t think I would care much. Just a matter of getting used to it.

Because when they change the pose it doesn’t always look good. Look at undead players complaining the old casting animation was much better.

Look at How the nightborne stand Vs how the Night elf stand (I like the Night elf better)

All High elf NPC’s Stand like this. Changing one high elf customization only to add another high elf customization doesn’t sound ok to me. Like high elf fans would rather lose the high elf pose to gain High elf hair colors? This idea is horrible.

Look at how my Void elf will look like in Shadowlands:

https://youtu.be/bFlP1--k-y0

You can see, even without the hair colors, she looks 100% like a High elf. It’s achievable if you guys have a little imagination

So basically, ‘because it COULD be uglier’?

Or because you want it to match the High Elf NPCs?

Some times they make them worse. Some times they make them better.

And I wouldn’t consider it beyond Blizzard to change the old High Elf NPC idle stance at some point, if they decided it became useful for whatever reason. Would you still want the Blood Elf idle pose then, or would you rather have yours change also, to match said hypothetical upgraded High Elves?

They may not do it all the time, but they do look at the old stuff. They already said they will be looking at all city NPCs due to the new customizations, for instance.

In Vanilla the High Elves were just a reskin of the Night Elves with upwards ears, after all. But that was changed when they preferred making them unique. Just as they preferred making the Nightborne more unique.

The funny thing being, I know many Night Elf players who prefer the male idle pose much better than their own…

But I don’t want those. who wants those apart from American Twilight Cosplayers and that ilk. A direct copy of Blood Elves on Horde side? No thanks.

You see thats the problem with the way the thread has so far gone, it is all “High Elves -Need-”, “High Elves -Should get”- even “High Elves -must-,” Whereas it is always, "Oh, Blood Elves -can- have "

Its pretty clear that what people who main Blood Elves want, is merely a throwaway part of this, like they get the leftovers and you can’t be bothered to actually discuss it or put serious thought into it.

Thats what is putting some people’s backs up, the way its always “Oh, High Elves should have x, and y and z” “Blood Elves can have, err, X, Yeah, I heard they really want those”

Think you’ll find it would be up to the Blood Elf playerbase to say what they’d like, not to just be tossed some scraps from a table as an afterthought when it comes to the discussion.

I don’t want Dark Rangers. I think they would be a terrible addition, and to make them work Blizzard would have to either, risk the ire of Men’s Rights Activists because they would be all Female, or Actually completely butcher their own Lore, as well as butchering a nation’s cultural beliefs (not the first time they’ve done that, mind) by saying that male Dark Rangers could exist too. (Nathanos is -not- a Dark Ranger, he is something unique, he was not created the same way as Dark Rangers.)

They’d also have to limit these new skin options to Hunters and Rogues. Perhaps Warriors. Ain’t any such thing as a Dark Ranger Warlock, or Mage or Priest…

How does that sound? Would people be happy if the new High Elf skins were limited to just three classes of Void Elves?

Of course they wouldn’t.

And rightly so!
So why on earth would Dark Ranger skins be assumed to make sense for Blood Elves if it was an option only a couple of Classes got?

I mean apart from not making lore sense it simply wouldn’t be -fair-.

San’layn are even more problematic.

They’re Vampires. They can create other Vampires. Know what happens when you get people who don’t really know the lore play Vampires?

Bites someone “You get to be a Vampire, and you get to be a Vampire, and Everyone gets to be a Vampire!”

It would be a catastrophic thing for the RP demographic of the game, absolutely catastrophic, and it would add nothing to it, apart from people’s Lestat/Edward Cullen/Dracula fantasies.

It would also logically mean the utter destruction of the Alliance, because once you let maniac blood elf vampires into the equation (I’ll come back to the irony of this in a moment), who can turn others into Vampires whether they like it or not. What do you end up with?

A Whole Nation of Vampires in the Northern Eastern Kingdoms.

Bye Bye Stormwind, was nice knowing you.

Awful idea.

I’m pretty glad that the Alliance killed off the last remaining San’layn during BfA, they did the Horde a massive favour there.

By the way, as a PSA for those who really -do- want their Vampire Elves, We already -have- them! They’re called Blood Elves, and the whole -point- of the Exile was that they learned how to drain the essence out of Living Things. Blood Elves -Are- Vampires, just its mana, not blood.

Err. No…you have Void Elves. If you already had High Elves in the Alliance, threads like this wouldn’t exist… You’re getting the option to make a Void Elf look like a High Elf, which is cool.

I wouldn’t put too much faith in that just yet, she is a lore character then has a new model, who knows, it may be the Sylvanas Factor at play. Sylvanas’ body would have been a putrefied corpse by the time she repossessed it… Alleria’s look might just be because she is Windrunner trailer trash and therefore has to look ‘purty’ for her Human Boy…

Thats the thing. -You’re- not, because you have always been very reasonable and sensible about the likelihood of certain options, the thing is, -everything- you list there, -has- been asked for, by more than just one random maniac, I must add. Everything you list there, has in seriousness been asked for/demanded.

I think essentially it is a problem we’re not going to see easily resolved, because nobody can pin down what amount of customisation is ‘enough’ to satisfy everyone. And y’know, thats like, annoying, but also understandable, because everyone’s vision of what is a ‘proper’ High Elf is likely different, and people want different things. Some say the current options are cool, and allow them to play a High Elf, some say the current options are cool, but they need natural hair colours, some say they need that and the eye options, jewellery and hairstyles that Blood Elves have, Some say they need all of the above and also Paladins as a playable Class.

After that people go really cuckoo with their demands…

But you see what I mean, every incremental step will satisfy some, but not others, so you keep following that line of thinking, in trying to please -everyone- who wants High Elves, and essentially you end up with exact clones of the Blood Elves, who are Alliance, and own Silvermoon.

That would seriously be where you would end up, if you listened to every High Elf Fan.

Now obviously the ones demanding Silvermoon are the lunatic fringe, but my point is, “Where do you draw the line?”
Is there a sweet spot at which point people will feel like they no longer need to ask for High Elves and are satisfied?
Can everyone agree on it? (Spoiler: No there isn’t :stuck_out_tongue: )

I don’t know, I know what -I- think would be a fair compromise, but other people might not see it that way…

In fairness if you want the Alliance High Elf model that existed before Blood Elves were made playable you are -more- than welcome to it :stuck_out_tongue:

Both.

And I actually like this pose, which is why Blood elves and Void elves are my favorite. If the pose was optional, I would be onboard. But I doubt it. So yeah I don’t like the idea of changing our pose.

Oh, but they already did. There is an in-game toy that turns player into Dark Rangers males. Both Night and Blood Elves.

Yeah, but in fairness there is a toy that turns you into a male Naga, it don’t mean Naga are playable

I believe the point I was making was that regardless of them coming as proper player options or not, you either disregard the toy as non-game-canon because it makes you into something that you feel should not exist in game, or must accept that the whole banshee thing was already screwed in BfA, even without looking at Nathanos.

Orrrrrrr. They could put female souls into males if they wanted? The Kyrians clearly can do that…

Just teasing here. Don’t take me too seriously. It’s all a game after all. A lovely game, with a sometimes awesome and sometimes silly story - but still a game, and an ever-changing one. For myself, I enjoy the lore (playing for 12years) but I try not to be too fussy about it. Although I occasionally fail, which causes me to feel very silly afterwards. :stuck_out_tongue:

I mean to be honest a Banshee can possess a male body, so that could be a justification, although can you imagine the howls of indignation that we’d see from the Twitch and Pol kids if they did that!

I am very rarely utterly serious in my posting, usually mildly sarcastic at best, don’t worry, I know the point you were going for :stuck_out_tongue:

I get it, but I don’t agree with it. It will literally take nothing away from anyone.

No high elf in the game has void hair.

She looks like a peach skinned void elf.

Who did?

Full high elf options have literally been our aim all the way.

*75%

Even so, she got influenced by the void HARD, and yet kept her own hair. There’s no lore reason at all that would support high elf skin tones without high elf hair for void elves.

As long as blood elves don’t lose anything, I’m not really against handing out as many options as possible. Silvermoon going Alliance would take a lot away from the blood elves, and is something I’m hard against. As for cosmetic, non genetic options, I’d prefer to see hair styles more akin to those of other Alliance races, both to appease the no-clone-please blood elf players, but mostly to add more Alliance flavour to the high elves, and display the cultural significance of being in the Alliance.

Skin tones, hair colours and perhaps racial abilities that don’t turn you to void. And I’d prefer to restrict the warlock class to those who make actual void elves, and not use the high elf options.

That was never a female soul. It was a male soul that had a female body in life.

She doesn’t, that hair color just doesn’t do her justice, if it was white like Vereesa’s i would have agreed but it’s not

I get your point, and I see what I have done wrong. Soul gender doesn’t necessarily relate to the body, and I hereby offer my apologies if I appeared tactless or offended anyone.

What I was trying to say was, that nothing in-game necessarily denies the possibility that souls are moved to a new body whose gender does not necessarily match the body they previously left.

Hope it’s clear now.

It will take away uniqueness quite literally.

Maybe it’s time that changed.

High elf fans.

I know. All those “compromises” were not really compromises but gradual theft.
