High Elves in 12.1 šŸ’™

TIL!

As an asides, I propose we dismantle that race and split their customisation resources in between more deserving races.

#VoteArethias2026

I see your point, but for my part, I’d be more inclined to consider the argument moot, if it hadn’t been raised at all or only once every blue moon.

One could also make the inverse argument: That with so many players gravitating towards elven options, the other races are in dire need of more customisation or racial variants to increase their overall appeal. This ultimately boils down to whether Blizzard are fine with an uneven distribution of players across the races, or have a vested interest in keeping players somewhat engaged with all of them. An insight I, for one, do not possess.

I think Elven players are well catered for with four distinct options, two per faction. No more are needed, no more are required. We even have all the traditional fantasy elves accounted for.

Traditional High Elves in the Blood Elves, traditional Wood Elves in the Night Elves and traditional Dark Elves in the Nightborne.

I actually agree to a fault with what you’re saying. But then I’m reminded of how lacking the Blood Elf (especially male) model customizations are. And even moreso the Void Elven ones. And that in spite of having been consistently the #1 played race in all of WoW since their addition, BElves have been paid a very low amount of attention in terms of the lore and expansions. Proportionally, atleast.

With all the incredible customizations offered to Dracthyr, they represent only 3-4% of player characters (and I think you can count them as being Elf-adjacent in their visage form? Nevermind that 3% of them are Evokers, too.). I’m sure the Harranir numbers also won’t fare that well, even with the incredible customization options offered to them, but we’ll see. Earthen are 1.3% atm.

100% agree, too. And as an ending note, I don’t see the High Elf Playable Race requests as being a hard-set for High Elves. But rather wanting more customization options overall. If they resolved that issue, you’ll invariably see far, far less threads.

High Elven customisations should primarily go to Blood Elves, as Blood Elves are High Elves, so in reality that is a tautology and is just a call for more Blood Elf customisations.

Void Elves received high elf like customisations a few years back, and that was enough. They should now get more void type customisations to reinforce what they are.

Yes. Feel free to educate yourself. And morality about Art theft aside for now. Using AI makes for many people the position of someone else less valuable.

How sad to call a piece of software your friend.

Im referring to the thalassian skeleton or ā€œrigā€.

I do not care about NE NB Haranir on this discussion. I understand the point you are making, I just disagree with it.

We already did, and yet there is always someone that is happy with it.

I prefer variety, especially when its a race that is already established part of the alliance.

Grasping at straws.

Funnier is how you guys refuse to provide any source to your claim of high elves as a separate race.

People numerously provided you with source for ingame or other sources of inromation (explaning their history, rise of the blood elves, split and creation of void elves. The sources provided even explain why both blood and void elves can have their eyes blue and have normal skin tones).

You and the ones like you just refuse to accept the facts.

But in case I am wrong, please teach me and I would like to ask you to provide your point of view, on which you’re building your claims to have seaprate high elven race.

If possible, cite some source on which you’re building those claims.

Speaking of regarding the response by Elcorynd above, actually …

You could start here. You never did reply.

Interesting. Did not know about this. Thank you.

Yeah. From what we are seeing, it’ll be the Silver Covenant fleet making an appearance for the most part? Atleast, that’s based on the NPCs that have been datamined. Which is also in line with how Silverglade’s established as a dock/haven. We’ll likely see it play out next week, when the max level content is unlocked.

I’m actually surprised the High Elves make an appearance like this overall and was certain they’d skip over them for the most part. In favor of focusing solely on the Void Elves and Blood Elves. And instead leave the High Elves’ presence for TLT’s Northrend revamp, where incidentally they were turned into a mainstream Alliance millitary force back in WotLK.

Genuine question, is there any blood elf who actually calls themselves high elf actively? Not players that is

OK cool. I was aware of the Refuge, and it being Alliance only, but its nice to have some sort of confirmation that it will be a base of operations for SC.

From what I have seen leaked, about VE and BE, I wonder if they are , and this is my conjecture without any evidence, planning to add Void Elves to the Horde. Lets not forget that Umbric was a Blood Elf Magistrate, and his followers were Blood Elves aswell.

Im not aware of the last titan expansion details. Maybe they will have a part to play. But anything on the alpha that explains Vereesa new tabard? If i remember correctly its not the Silver Covenant one, but the High Elven one.

Not really, no. The closest you can get is that there’s instances where they do refer to themselves as Highborne from time to time in quest text and dialogue.

I don’t think that’s possible. The Void Elves explicitly refer to themselves as Alliance in Midnight, and are very loyal to it. And in return, the Alliance reciprocates that support. Back in BfA, Umbric has some dialogue that himself and his Magisters were always Alliance-oriented even before the exile, and that they’re intent on ousting the current pro-Horde Thalassian government.

But I do believe it might be in the realms of possibility for them to merge the two races and turn it neutral at some eventual point, in the same vein that Pandaren and Dracthyr function off. Especially since we’re getting full class parity between them, with VElf DHs coming in the pre-patch, and seemingly VElf Paladins later.

It is the ā€œunite the Elven tribesā€ expansion, afterall. And VElves are welcomed back by Lor’themar by the Voidstorm questline.

Fair enough.

I see. Its a fair point, and plays with the Unification theme, thus explaining why Silvermoon is open for both factions moving forward, and would resolve an issue of VDH for the horde. Or will the BEDH be able to use the Void Spec?

Void elf paladins should be an interesting one at the very least, I have seen the NPC at the rift.

How does Rommath react? Poorly? Do we know?

Also repeating myself, anything on Alpha explaining why Vereesa changes tabard?

Has a meltdown, yeah. But his last words are ā€œAtleast return back alive.ā€ before Umbric leaves, so even on the front of the most anti-VElf BElf leader there’s some reconcilliation?

Nothing on that front. I feel like the answer is a bit more disappointing than you’d want. They probably didn’t want to update the Silver Covenant and Blood Knight tabards, and instead created Quel’thalas tabards to serve that purpose. So far we have a BElf and HElf variant. Maybe there’ll be a VElf too.

Think of the Dornogal tabard variants.

The Devourer spec is available to all DH races, and isn’t restricted just to VElves, so that’s fine! As for the VElf Paladin, I can’t wait for it to be added in as a playable option, whenever that happens.

I see.

It does fit with the Unification theme, as they are fighting for their ancestral home. Makes sense.

Does the lore explains how the BE can use it?

I agree should be an interesting one. Im curious about the lore implications of that.

Thank you for the answers!

Edit: Just to add, wonder what will be the Void Elf Paladin racial mount if it comes to pass.

As we are speaking about present day in TWW, no Blood Elf refers to themself as High Elf (in present tense).
