Hoist the Sails, a Plunderstorm Has Arrived!

Yeah yeah, we know you’re a zoomer. Don’t have to post all the time about moles and malding. :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Interestingly enough I’ve never, ever used this phrasing before for Blizzard, no matter how much I disliked something. It’s a phrase I hardly ever use for anything in general.

But yes, it’s so clearly predatory that I have no other word. Judge me as you like, I don’t care, but understand the sincerity of my words.

I’m a god gamer and be careful what you say next or I’ll have to cancel you with my army of tiktok subscribers

What is? Renown grind?

Oh no, my E-personality… I’m devastated. :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Although I agree it has been like this for most of DF where a patch would keep you entertained for possibly 1 week or slightly more, so I think it’s more of just people getting bored of m+ and or raiding or pvp, cause outside of that there isn’t anything to do at max level.

This is true, an objective mistake in my eyes as I’m aware the amount of plyers who play mmo’s and BR are niche at best, it’s possible they overestimated the amount of people who dabble in both

i don’t know about that one, the cosmetics do not have a wide variaty of appllications as its a single theme, so if you don’t like hte theme thats it, so in that vein I don’t know what you mean with "clearly meant ot appeal to most players. But perhaps I missunderstood that.

I don’t blame the players for wanting to acces them, I blame the players for wanting the game to cater to them as if they were the target player base, which they are not. Most of the complaints for those is just that they want to be done with it faster because they dislike the idea of FOMO but under that logic all players affraid of FOMO and therefor have to have something should all be pvpers are mythic raid sets are available after the season but the elite sets have always been FOMO yet very few percentage of players play it, my point being FOMO doesn’t mean you have to, in this case people just like the cosmetics and want it easier without having to do the content that is required, like if they asked for the limited elite set without the pvp attached.

Very good, as it should be, FOMO shouldn’t and doesn’t control you, I’m glad to hear you understand it properly.

This is a AAA company, there is of course going to be a way to incentivize players to play the new thing, FOMO being incredibly effective with wow players as alot of them are collectors who would rather die then not have a single piece of gera they’ll never use. As much as it’s a rather scummy marketing strategy, it’s so effective that they have no need to do anything else, the FOMO alone is enough to make some players spend multiple days worth of hours on it. You can’t blame the company for using proven strategies, in fact I wouldn’t blame anyone and instead say that if blizzard is to change we need to show them that FOMO doesn’t work and we don’t accept bad content even if it preys on that feeling.

MAke FOMO ineffective if you wanna get rid of it, saying you hate FOMO and then going and playing is nothing more then attention seeking cause in the end it changed nothing, they are a company who want to make money, and thisw ay they can guarantee it. Is it scummy? Yes. Will they ever stop if we ask nicely? No, why would they since we are still gonna play it.

They know humanity too well.

Too bad that any news outlets who claim to be bastions of morality are happy to lick the corporate boots while dunking on gamers

To our deficit, unfortunately yess.

This is why I urge people who dislike it to not fall to FOMO as

  1. you ruin the game by trying to get the rewards as fast as possible which reduces the fun for the players who enjoy the mode
  2. You support FOMO which will only make them think they can continue as player still play it, and although we might complain blizzard just sees the numbers go up

If you play for FOMO it’s a loose loose situation for the player and community, so please I urge you to not fall prey to such scummy tactics.

It bit them in the butt before and they changed direction. DF was a change of pace, with a lot of “We’re listening to you, we understand you want to have fun!”

And the change of direction turns out to be going from long, mandatory chores with some FOMO sprinkled on top to milking the FOMO for all its worth. I came back after a long break because I got the impression they finally understood some of the issues and meant to rectify it. And yet it seems throughout DF they’ve simply harnessed this more and more instead of making the game better and more fun.

It’s not inspiring faith in me for TWW.

Can you please implement a hotfix so that the Plunderstorm icon and mode can be hidden/toggled on/off ? I have zero interest in this game mode and if this is the stuff you prepare for us in TWW you just lost a sale.

thankfully loose situations can be easily tightened with a wrench or screwdriver.

Make it two.
I don’t fancy the idea of games outside of the actual game.
Which are missrepresented as patches of the actual game also.

I genuinely have no idea what you mean with that sorry

By the way
I nominate the Mana sphere as the best PvE spell.
If you hold it down so that it gets fully charged it becomes wide enough to slaughter lots of NPCs which means more XP and plunder

Counterargument, Fire whirl kills most mobs in its duration and give you speed while manasphere is limited to a single line fire whirl can move and is fast while it happens

Fire whirl is so good that one feels worried about using it at the wrong time. Mana sphere is more spammable and it can go reeealy far

Mana sphere can take better care of more loose mobs

Hmmm that’s true, but if you pair it with slicing winds you can run away until it’s up if you find anyone, but I guess mana sphere does have some good range.
what would you recommend to pair it with if you wanna run it?
Personally I go jump and stealth for my def, but second dps ability?

My prefered loadout is:

Offensive:
Fire whirl
Mana sphere/Holy Shield/Rime Arrow

During the early game I might use the Star gravity spelly thing cause it can really drop the health of NPCs quick but I will ditch it when I can

Defensive:
Fade to Shadow / The spinny thing that immobilises people
Fae Form

But I will also not snub on Lightning Bulwark and Repel in order to block others Fire Whirls.

My preffered loadout is:

Offensive:
Slicing winds (The mobility WHAAAAA)
Fire Whirl(so much dmg and so easy to land) / Holy Shield (And from the top we SNIPE)

Alt. Offensive:
Mana sphere (Insane dmg for how easy it is to hit late)
Storm Archon (Insane consistent damge from miles away)

Defensive:
Quaking Leap (Hehe this bad boy with the knockup allows you to land even melee almost guaranteed)
Fade to shadows (blink into sleath, aint no way I’m not using this to seak behind a rock to heal)

Alt. Defensive:
Steel Traps(such a long root, allows you to hit star bomb to basically one shot) / Windstorm(juicy stun allows you to land most things and it does some nice dmg)
Explosive Caltrops (Criminally underrated mobility)

I got to give the Caltrops more love then.

I also have not used Storm Archon as much because the visuals are so hard to see that I do not notice it often

Yeah but when you hit them and use the mobility it does a fair amount of dmg and makes you feel megamind lmao
