Check out deez clawz!

A character i absolutely adored, I even based my own nelf druid off of…

Then they gave her THOSE voicelines in Legion.

She was honestly quite a badass in Mt Hyjal in Cataclysm.

What happened?

The issue is for many (presumebly male) game developers and writers they equate “powerful woman” with “sexy lady” because that’s the way they see women as exerting influence. So even if they don’t intend it, powerful female characters (whom aren’t a grotesque race) end up sounding accidentally sexy.

It’s like

“And now, I shall punish you for your insolence and teach you a lesson!”
becomes
“And now, I shall punish you :smirk: for your insolence and teach you a lesson  ” with the innotation and inflection.

What we really need is Fem Inquisitor from DA:I and Visas Marr (Kelly Hu) from KOTOR 2 voicing characters. Those voices are quite literally

by definition. You open a dictionary and it just says “Kelly Hu”

she also voiced cheshire in young justice btw

Val’sharah happened.

That first night elf you encounter with Malfurion when finding Cenarius:

“Ohmygaaaaaaaah Malfurion like where weeeeeere you? Cenarius is like acting tots wierd with all this like corruuuption stuff that is all yuck and stuff and I literally don’t know what we are gonna do so I am like totally relieved and appreciate that you have arrived so you can do your druid thing yaaah.”

Exactly, she was an absolute badass as well as cool as a cucumber with the occasional joke here and there, (“wait, i’m supposed to be the good cop?”)

So, I made a nelf druid.

And then Legion came out and 1) the voice actress sounds like highschool teenager and 2) the voicelines themselves didn’t help.

They ruined my favourite nelf druid!

Not only that druid’s dialogue, but her voice is a perfect example of the perky highschooler thing. She sounded like it was originally meant to be a gnome.

My go-to example is always Vivien Reid, a new-ish planeswalker character from MTG who got voice lines for MTG Arena.

Her actor has a very powerful voice and would suit the night elves well - sadly I don’t know who did the performance.

Lol yeah she sounds like a Gnome.

I mean I like that all elves aren’t bad british accent I really do but there’s a ton of american accents and dialects they could have used and California Tween Dreams is not the voice I would have gone for personally, but that’s just me.

Vivien Reid is wonderful, but Im still really salty over how WotC murdered the Nissa x Chandra romance, & also did it in a very insulting manner.

https://mtglore.com/planeswalkers/vivien-reid/ - found a neat list of her voice lines when YouTube failed me.

Completely fair, I’m salty about it too.

Wish she’d teach me Force Sight :pensive:

But also what’s with youtube links no longer working without trust 3

I don’t know her name either, but I really liked the VA for Swtor’s Bounty Hunter. She sounded gruff and serious in a pretty good way. Overall, I quite liked the VA’s for both genders on all of the swtor classes.

Grey DeLisle. She voiced Handmaiden in KOTOR 2.

I seriously need to pick up Kotor 2 properly.

But yeah, her voice is cool!

To complete the holy trinity we’d need Sara Kestelman too. She voiced Kreia.

She’s also Azula and the D3 female wizard.

If only they could see me now…

When questing through Val’sharah it feels like I’ve jumped into an anime with how a lot of the nelf NPCs sound.

I do not like it.
