He OD’d right there.

Of course. I’m speaking broadly of the modern way homophobia manifests culturally, the original development of doctrine is a whole other matter and really up for speculation.

I tend to favor the belief that it was a means for Bronze and Iron Age tribal societies like Semitic peoples to discourage non-reproductive sex (hence why the ol’ Bibble isn’t just against gays, but any non-reproductive sex even for straight couples) as wasteful when those peoples tended to have a need for constant births to maintain numbers their numbers in the very harsh environments they lived.

Alot of early societies as far as we know though was pretty chill with same-sex relations/fun times. It’s also occuring in the animal kingdom from various times, one could even argue that it’s natural in a sense.

It was infact a big pressure point from early christianity that it was only things “heathens” did.

Indeed! It’s part of why I blame Semitic peoples specifically, because same-sex relations (at least a very specific kind) were considered normal in the Greco-Roman world until the rise of Christianity, which denounced it as part of the “old pagan” ways of Rome.

All of a sudden we’re no longer cool with reading the entrails of birds and men buggering their students? This is the true decline of Western civilization!

With that additional context then, of course, you are right. But we do understand that it can develop from nowhere. People can come to hate other people for all sorts of bad reasons.

My only stance on the matter really, is that as much as I oppose homophobia, and other beliefs similar to it, I don’t think the answer is to say it cannot be covered in Role-play, similar to how I don’t think other fictional media should be unable to cover the topic. Whilst it can be used by some to further spread their hate and upset and offend people, it can also be used to give insight. I imagine most of us have read, listened to or watched a form of media that covers themes of hate and see no issue in these topics being covered well, I just see it as the same for Role-play.

question mark

Unless im mixing elves together. You and Arillen are very similliar!

No it’s definitely Telaryn you’re thinking of
