Give it the proper welly
Holy crap. I looked through the replies (and felt so warm and nice) and then was WTFing at mention of a Dwarf. Scrolled up further and wtf some people are wack. You are all great, except the dwarf, for such positive posts etc.
not gonna lie, this thread has actually given me a lot of faith for argent dawn and our community to come together and be lgbt, shady and crush homophobia together. i love it, you guys are all great <3
:confused_screaming:
be gay do crimes etc
(:<
If you make gays illegal, only criminals will have gays
Itâs about the right to self-defense
Thankfully itâs impossible to lower to a smoothbrainâs level, and trying to attack their points to change their mind is pointless when theyâre that far gone.
Therefore mean spirited ridicule is the best way to deal with them. Just make them mad and feel bad and leave. No use being polite to bigots.
Tl;dr: bad take
I get where youâre coming from but at the same time I feel like treating an unapologetic bigot with civility also sets a bad precedent by inadvertently treating them with a modicum of tolerance.
You can get banned for pretty trivial stuff on the forums - I called a particular person a creepy chauvinist on this forum and ate a suspension for it.
Might as well go all out if youâre going [keeping in mind that targeting someone for something they have no control over is Bad News Bears]
Never have I heard or seen any homophobia in roleplaying.
Judging by this thread, Iâd say youâre remarkably lucky then!
Yeah on a grand scale most people seem to understand it isnât appropriate but thereâs quite a bit of it regardless.
Thatâs ultimately a good thing. This is the experience that I hope all players, LGBTQ+ or otherwise, will end up having. Sadly, Iâve seen it impact people I care about fairly recently, and have seen instances of in-character disapproval and passive-aggressive mockery of homosexual characters in the past couple of years Iâve played on Argent Dawn.
For the most part I think Argent Dawn is great at making LGBTQ+ players feel welcome. Heck, I think itâs great at making people from all walks of life feel welcome. But just because somethingâs being done well, doesnât mean there isnât room for improvement.
Donât drop to their extremely low standards of posting sewage. I have done that in the past in reply to some posters, and though you feel better briefly, it doesnât last and just makes you look like another low-life.
Donât worry, what goes around comes around in my book.
Itâs not so much about civility as far as Iâm concerned, itâs a mix of A: treading the line of exactly how much bile I can spew in their face without risking a ban and B: not wanting to descend into bodyshaming and slurs that might touch on other people whoâs done nothing to me.
For the record, I have absolutely no compunctions about what manner of terrible fates I will wish upon this particular brand of mutant. Only what I am willing to express in a moderated forum.
Never argue with an actual idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
I got a saying: âI donât care who you are or where youâre from. Carry your own weight and we wonât have a problem. And it doesnât matter who or where the idiot comes from, theyâre still an idiotâ
Now with that said, i honestly have no idea why some put in the effort to be homophobic. And even make their character have a personal gripe against it. An interesting character would be someone that overcomes a flaw, not sticks to it.
Now i get that thereâs people using X/Y/Z as a shield against their own personal flaws: âYou just hate me because of X and youâre a Y!â. Trust me, these are hated on both sides.
This character pretty much hates everyone that doesnât grant him more power.
And even in this context, there are so many better and more interesting things to overcome than homophobia in roleplay.
Well, maybe put it out of context, but agreed. All for creating characters that are different, however being homophobic for the sake of it⌠thatâs just pathetic.
