Blizzard in general doesn´t seem to be so hellbent on adhering to stuff RPers and lore nerds see as hard canon and dragons are one of these cases. There are many of them who don´t follow their naming conventions at all (there´s blue drake in Azurewing Repose whose name ends with -us, for example).
So I wouldn´t see Blizzard not retconning her name as some indirect proof of her being trans character just because she doesn´t follow vague naming conventions.

Luckily the RPG lore of dragons only being considered mature after a few centuries isn’t canon.

I’ll put in my two pennies. There is one rule for RP Realms and that is; don’t mixup RP with OOC. Also, Azeroth is not 21st century Earth.
My character isn’t adversely affected by PDAs and will treat another person as an equal. And me? I’m just happy roleplaying no matter who is behind the screen.
There is no precedent for hatred or distrust of homosexuals in lore, probably because some of the in-world institutions had more important things like, saving the world from the brink of apocalypse, or just don’t have homophobia on the books (laws or holy scripture).
Heck, you might even get a laugh from an oblivious Orc watching two male Blood Elves doing PDA and thinking they are trying to kill each other with lingual asphyxiation.
