It is more difficult to moderate homophobic behaviours outside of the game. Not everyone shares the same Discord servers, obviously nobody other than two people DMing each other can see said DMs unless one of them chooses to share them, and even then, not everyone is going to be willing to call out bad behaviour if and when they see it.
I do agree that as a whole homophobia in the roleplaying community does need to go away, whether it’s ironic or otherwise, because it does lessen the experience of LGBTQ+ players and it can be difficult to discern what is said in irony from what is said in sincerity given that text is not the most expressive medium compared to the human voice - so jokes can look like insults and vice versa. But it’s a much harder thing to enforce than guilds in game.
This isn’t to say it shouldn’t be done or cannot be done, simply that doing so is a lot trickier than going “X guild has Y members saying Z thing, bar them from in-game events.”
It is relevant when it is still an OOC element of the Argent Dawn Community. We communicate and plan events OOCly. I’m not talking about examples of this IRL, I’m talking about individuals expressing homophobic views in our roleplay community OOCly. This also makes people feel uncomfortable and attacked. It’s also a problem, whilst it may not be OOC, it still relates to Argent Dawn.
Resort to insults instead of calm and collective debate all you like. That’s just indicative of the point that you don’t like it when the finger is being pointed the other way, especially when it involves people you’re associated with. Homophobia needs to be challenged in RP and in the communities, both IC and OOC. I think it’s a pretty valid and simple point.
They do share a discord and a community though. I’m just stating that homophobia should be challenged in all communities. Maybe you should have a discussion with Morsteth? That’s if you really do support the LGBTQ+ community like you claim to on the forums.
If you have an issue of reading paragraphs, then i might suggest you might try picking up some nursery books to improve your reading capability.
There is no point being rude for the sake of rude. If you want to debunk them or prove their point wrong. Read their argument and rebuke it, not resort to dismissal and snarky uppidy comments. Makes this whole process whole lot easier. If you want to be edgy. I recommend the Stormwind Global.
I know no one is defending it. I never said that, the problem is they are ignoring it and don’t seem to think it matters in their own communities. Yet are happy to berate others and label them as xyz on the forums. It’s called hypocrisy, and I don’t think it’s particularly good for the community.
Why would I read the 5 paragraphs of some nobody alt? If they wanna gargle out the latest coad post they can have the courtesy to just do it in 1x paragraph.
Inability to read paragraphs doesn’t denote the incapability of reading or understanding harder text. As in some cases it can be related to ADHD / a simple lack of ability to concentrate D:
When Tehya can’t respond to something constructively, they just dismiss it casually. Maybe you should be less vindictive on the forums if you don’t like being responded to.
“Brain fog” is a bloody horrible thing sometimes. Gotta just wait for the “fog” to lift at points. Not sure if that’s how it feels for people with ADHD too, but sometiems concentrating on reading something is a challenge for me personally.
It merely shows your arrogance in the matter and how you are not open for a debate in the first place. Then let me ask, why are you giving any input here if you don’t care what they say. If you’re that bored, surely there are other things for you to do.
Because right now, you’re offering nothing to the discussion.
also kind of weird to call out people on the forums anyway, it goes against the forum ToS unless i’m mistaken (naming&shaming). even weirder to force some people to call out others?
think you can only name people present in the thread
or do so generally, such as ‘homophobic ppl IC and OOC are bad’, yknow, like we’ve been doing?
