WoooW… are we sharing house Korrina?
WoooW… are we sharing house Korrina?
Rift system is great. I haven’t played Rift for while either (mostly because it gives me motion sickness for some reason) but that housing system was absolutely great. I also like one in SWTOR, where you can buy either apartment at city or bigger lots with building different locations and decorate to your wish (including account wide bank etc. things that you can place there). Swtor also uses same system for guild housing which is nice on the side of having your own flagship which also is decoratable with furniture, decorations and convenience items.
For me player housing has to have (to be good and fun):
I disagree in Final Fantasy having a home does not impact immersion at all. It is more of a an addon and a bonus and you do not have to have one. If Blizzard follows this model then people can have a home if they want it or ignore it if they do not.
Important to note that there aren’t enough houses for everyone in FFXIV.
Ye, cause being alone in your virtual home while you are alone in your real life home is the main reason anyone plays MMO.
That was awesome housing true. But something like that won’t work in a game like WoW.
How it was?
You could place a house into the game world, you could place it near a “player city” for example. You’d have to pay an extra tax but you’d be part of the city with a right to vote.
Some people were actual merchants buying and selling goods.
Okay this is great since they are considering it.
Would quite like to see it done like swtor did, just minus the micro transactions for it.
You want a huge mansion with line of guards leading up to it?
Sure buddy.
You want a small cottage hidden in the woods?
Got ya covered.
And even though you could have a bank, even AH there, it never killed hubs (no idea why did not stick with the game long enough)
Or how wildstar had it, that was cool too.
Seeing how we cannot possibly see the actual size of azeroth, this could be done in a great way, like having some large flat spot which you slowly fill.
Could have lots of stuff for profs too, mostly furniture (probs engi and tailoring would get the most).
Plz blizz gib.
Just re-implement sunsong ranch, with more cutomization options and ability to inv friends.
Make it small, with mini games and useful dailies, not obligatory. Becuase it would be small we could use all racial architecture.
Sunsong Ranch worked, Garrisons didn’t.
And it woulc be placed somehwere near a place where is quite a big activity. I wouldnt mind another “Argent Tournament” like place where all faction representatives are competing.
It was fun small thing imo.
Unless it was like a Borg ship with all your other chars resting/recharging so you can see them.
I’d love that, even if it had no reason at all to go back to, I’d return anyway.
Perhaps a slightly “faster” rested bonus?
But only if you actually go into bed and /lie before logging off.
And then you have to channel 10 sec to fix your sheets.
No dailies, no resources, no nothing. Housing must mean housing. Building, rooms, furniture, customization. Worst than having a garrison 2.0 would be to have a garrison 0.5. The ranch is not housing, the garrison is not housing. For once WoW should have a feature that outlasts the expansion it was created on. Add anything that ties the new housing option to the expansion is created for and I can guarantee it will be obsolete in 2 years.
I do this a lot with my characters in inns, but the right command is /sleep . In fact, even when I’m not at an inn, I never log off with my characters standing up. At the very least they have to sit down.
This seems a bit overkill to be honest. I mean, maybe eventually, but that doesn’t seem realistic for the introduction of the system. Even if the bulk of the work would be developing the structure that allows the customization to happen, every new zone they have to build a house on just adds to the pile of work.
It’s better to first spend time developing a system that allows for rich customization and ideally a great number of player options (solo, guild, group, one character, multiple characters, for instance). Then, after they have built a good foundation, they can expand the cosmetic options.
So one big nothing but a visual feature.
Precisely.
I agree with this. Adding these would just make it second garrison or farm which had nothing to do with actuall player housing. Those were just instanced mini quest hubs.
But i do think housing should be instanced, other wise world would be just cluttered with housing areas. Let there be clickable door in SW/Org which lets you in to your apartment. Clickable gate in countryside letting you in to your lot where your house is. Would not add any extra clutter to game world. Invitations to selected people or everyone could be easily done with listings, where you can click whose house you want to step into. Instanced housing would also mean that if someone abandons their house it would not be as eyesore to others forever because no one would actually see it then.
New expansions would bring new locations where you can get new place if you wish (like now for example you could buy housing in Boralus for example) with new style furniture etc. This way this feature would carry over expansions, they could just add to it every time. Effective and easy.
^^This!! I love the idea of player housing, it was a small feature in Kingdoms of Amalur and I loved it, limited though it was. But it would have to be somewhere you could go to and decorate/work on when you felt your character needed to relax so I agree with Korrina, no dailies, quests or anything. (Maybe an optional garden to attend though just as an idea?) And absolutely one that’s permanent, as in not tied to a particular expansion. I love my WoD garrison but it’s pretty useless once you move on from Draenor.
OMG!! I thought I was the only one who did this! So happy to know I’m not alone! But yes, items you can interact with like lying on a bed, sitting on a chair etc.
I think this is purely down to player choice. Yes, to begin with you’ll quite possibly get a lot of players staying ‘at home’ while they get used to it, do it up and while the novelty is still on. But afterwards? Who knows? I guess the players who want to still go outside and do stuff with other players will do that and those who don’t, won’t. So again, it’s down to playing preference and style. I am all for a game that offers players lots of different ways to enjoy it!!
^^Some really good ideas here! I especially like the first four!
Personally I vote a huge YES for player housing, provided it’s done in a way to make it fun, non-pressured and achievable for all.
Yes!! I want this so badly lol.
Like i said in another housing thread they should add trophies to the loot table of bosses and rares you can display in your house
Yes! I can already imagine inviting friend to see my place and straight after door they bump into this huge, smelly, tad soft scalesurface filling the room.
“Uh what’s that?!”
“Oh that’s my head of Onyxia!”
“Perhaps we should drag it in the backyard before we put the coffee on, what ya think?”
Joke aside, yes, that would be really nice. I go as far that i say that without items from drops (from bosses, rares and also common items from common mobs) it would not be fun housing at all. I want to go grind for furniture! And planks! And plants (or pots for plants i can plant there from seeds i grind from plantmobs). And garden gnomes!
