The Moira stuff is general WoW lore from vanilla BFD and MC, followed by Cataclysm Dwarf intro quests and either a short story or book… the mention her son is grown up was in some TWW interview can’t remember the source.
He is King of both, the Mechagnomes accepted him as their King as Prince Erasmus(?) wasn’t interested and he now has a rip off iron man heart.
You should definitely do a lore run. Basically do loremaster on a 70, with a toy foam sword and read all the quests. It’s a long project but I really enjoy it. I enjoy the 3rd party content but I agree it is poorly translated into the game. I think in a recent interview Ion said they’d realised this and are working on making it better.
Not sure I have the dedication to do this. I have the Loremaster achievement and have done most zones at some stage or other over the years (my first character was an Orc Warrior in 2005, this Shaman dates to TBC 2007).
We need more world building type quests every expansion to remind us of the current state of each race and faction.
I wish there were Auto-Pilot type Add-Ons that would go a Lore plot line rather than the fastest leveling route. Could be a race like Dwarf or it could be a character like Arthas or it could be class related like Paladin. Would be some work to set up though.
Well this is the thing. The lore comes from the quests and in the older expansions, generally the side quests give hints at the main thread. You needn’t do it all at once you could just make a toon and decide you’re gonna play ALL of TBC and read ALL the quests and then do something else until you feel up to doing another expansion.
Not about wanting to see an alliance bad guy just for the sake of it. But before this ‘‘revive’’ garrosh thread. It seemed Horde fans where tired of always spending their lore characters to become big bads that dies off.
Then threads like these happens and I am like ‘‘Okey then… Guess they don’t mind as much as I thought’’
Some people don’t play Horde they are involved into the redemption story, they just want to play big bad warmongering monsters. Which is kinda sad, yes. Because they complain whenever the Horde tries to defuse tensions.
I once had a debate with an undead player who didn’t want Calia as a leader because he wanted Forsaken to remain cold, bloodthirsty killers.
I thought that was a shame because it would be interesting for our race to evolve in a new direction.
WoW is, at its core, a game about heroes defeating the villains, that alone makes wanting to play the villain an impossible wish, or at least one bound to end in defeat.
And the direction of the Forsaken, i’d like them to find one, now “Follow Sylvanas around like a pack of undead puppies” is off the table (At least, for now)
In fact, i would like much more lore about “What do the separate races want?”, all the lore has been about Horde or Alliance, but what do, say, the gnomes or the Tauren want?
As someone who doesn’t play on the Horde side, I kind of agree with it. It was such a nice breeze to see Voss being so nice to the Sentinel lady in the Q’uonzu quests (or whichever was it). I’m not sure if it’s OOC since “dead people can’t have feelings” or whatever, but it was a nice touch to see Lilian be worried for someone. Loved it!
It’s not that Forsaken doesn’t want Calia because she is Calia… Back in the day Forsaken where theroizing and speculating wheter she was dead or alive or not. And her reclaiming the throne was really hyped.
Its the way they have written her… The forsaken named them selves ‘‘The forsaken’’ Because thats what they literally where… After they broke free from the Lich king. Every human nation condemned them and killed them on sight.
Anduin took a huge first step by organizing the family reunion in Arathi. But the Human nations largley condemned their Forsaken relatives to their fate. And hated them as if they where the Scourge.
If Calia was written in a somewhat way that she was believable and hadn’t forgotten what becoming a Forsaken meant her people went trough by the Alliance. Maybe their fanbase would have been more aboard with her…
But this is literally what the cleaning of the plague at Tirisfal, and the heritage armor questlines showed us. She’s actually learn what being a Forsaken means and she goes along with it, while retaining her benevolent personality.
For example, during the heritage armor questline, she doesn’t forbid the use of the plague against the Scarlet Crusade, but she does want to make sure that it doesn’t kill her own people. It’s a way for her to be a Forsaken while staying true to her character, and I find that interesting to see.
They do have feeling. Sylvanas and Nathanos are still in love, even as undead, and they were kind of angry against Arthas and the Scourge, and anger is still an emotion.
I don’t think it’s OOC for Lilian. We know that she hate the Scarlet Crusade. A LOT actually. But she was always cool with others.
In fact, I think it was well done. When she arrives among the Forsaken, they don’t trust her. She must earn this trust by showing that she’s willing and able to help its people. Her place among them was not handed to her on a silver platter.
