As a casual gamer I don’t have time to play battlegrounds 24/7, however I want to try to get rank 10. Since I cannot attend any raids (most raids start at early evening and I - being married and a father - can only join the game at later times) and mainly play the game for pvp anyway, rank 10 set would be a huge deal for me.
Last August I started playing with some friends for the Alliance. Now I was left behind since all my friends quit, and I am thinking about returning to the only real faction: the Horde. But there are some things I would like to know before I reroll:
As Alliance I have nearly instant invites to all battlegrounds (yes, 90% of them will end up in a defeat, but I can get my a$$ beaten anytime I want) So what about Horde queue times for AV, AB and WSG at the moment?
Since battlegrounds have cross-realm queues, it doesn’t really matter on which realm you’re playing (regarding queue times) ?
If I get it right, the time it takes to rank up depends on faction population and how many of the population takes part in pvp. So what are better conditions to rank as solo casual player:
3.1) Playing on a low faction-population pve-realm: less competition but also smaller brackets. So if there are some hardcore pvp-players, they will block the higher brackets and it will take a longer time to get higher ranks?
3.2) Playing on a high faction-population pvp-realm: more competition but greater brackets. Though you need a lot more honour to get in higher brackets?
As far as I know, Horde queues ~1h for AV to celebrate an Alliance slaughtering for like 40min. But good times end in AB and WSG because of facing premades most of the time too. So how do you rank as Horde casual ? I have an average play time of 2h per day. That means I will likely be able to only join 1 AV. I can’t imagine that’s enough to get higher ranks.
Would be glad if someone could answer my questions and give some feedback, tips and tricks to rank on Horde.
Playing both factions ; classic isnt a pug friendly game despite what your faction is. AV as horde is long time que with a fair winrate , I expected id have over 75% winrate but i ended up with 58% winrate on horde AV because there are russian alliance pug that knows how to turtle / win av , youll face premades in 10 man or 15man games similar as alliance pug or maybe more .
Tldr ; whatever your faction is , if you want to rank up , you should find a premade. AV isnt a good source for honor per hour to rankup . Unless if there is an AV premade to win the game fast.
AV is the way to go. Against turtle Russian premades Just rush to enemy base. try to cap as much as bunkers possible. And kill as many lieutenants and commanders as possible. I have more than %50 winrate against Russians. As alliance you should also focus for the bonus objectives for max honor gain
I play 4-5 hours per day (quarantine) and got to rank 8 in two months. I estimate to rank 9 in 1 or 2 weeks and rank 10 in a month.
That’s with 200-250k honor points per week.
Sounds good, doesn’t work. I often finish games under 500 bonus honor.
But anyway it is possible to get 70k+ honor in my limited time by farming defeats. Just because I can instant join the next battleground and farm some new players and turn in loser marks.
But as Horde you cannot instant join and I don’t have the time to wait an hour for the next match. So I would end up to get less honor by switching faction ?
Sorry, this might be a stupid question. But I just want to be sure the effort to reroll Horde to do pvp is worth it. And if so, what kind of realm would you suggest to solo rank ? PvE-realm, PvP-realm, high or small population ?
Thanks for help!
Thanks for sharing! Which server are you on and how do you get the honor ? Solo AV or in a premade group ?
I am on Razorgore. Mainly play AB premades and occasionally AV. Unless you have a good premade, AV gives you comparable honor per hour and in a more relaxed way. You also can farm, watch movies while waiting for AV (30-60 min).
Grats mate.
I have better gear than what Champion set gives to Priests (I play Holy/Disc Priest btw). But I want that set for Shadow Spec PvP. I also enjoy PvPing as a team. Can’t go back to PUGing.
Some classes, don’t need (so I read) to push for rank 10. Like Hunters for example. Hybrid classes benefit more.
I agree. But what circumstances would help to get in a little less than ages ?
Interesting, because that might be the class I would go for. Are pre-raid BIS items better than the rank 10 set ? Because I won’t get inside any raids due to my unscheduled online times.
Despite this I mainly want those damn sets for style.
Yea i am supporting faction balance because either alliance or horde its the same experience solo wise. I dont know why there are people that thin faction X is superior over faction Y . And when you get to play faction X you get to see them whine over faction Y winning always when in reality its all reliant on the player himself.
Tldr ; Faction dominance BG wise is a myth , if someone loses his games 90% he is part of the problem. No offence but this is a fact.
Offtopic but I would like to congratulate you for both your epic character name and guild name!
It almost made me want to make a character in your realm to join you
Thanks mate (if that was for me).
It’s a dead guild though. My friends abandoned me.
I would have invited you to join, but please stay Alliance. To keep any balance left.
Another tip in AV is knowing when to type /afk to take deserter and que again (as alliance). A plus to doing that is it gives you the odd 15 mins break now and then
